City to City THERE'S NOTHING ROMANTIC ABOUT THE HOURS I KEEP.
For each time she stammered an apology he whispered " One, two, three". He took in her blushing face and couldn't help bringing a hand up to brush at her cheeks again. It was the little things. The way her eyes widened in seemingly never ending surprise. The way her mind moved faster than her words and they came out in a rush. Her face a million different kinds of expressions all at once. Moving from comfort to fear at the tiniest of things. He reactions were so visible, for someone that he suspected to be so closed off she was startlingly easy to read. Then she looked up into his gaze, really looked. It was his turn to look away, to shift uncomfortably under the scrutiny of another.
He hadn't expected her to be so bold, it was a pleasant surprise. It was something that he was not used to away from an alcoholic haze. Out here in the open, sober and with nothing to distract him it was difficult to pretend it was as easy. " You make it easy to be friendly." he lowered his hand from her cheek and slipped it back around her waist, twirling her around slowly. Bringing his gaze back up he let her finish her looking within them, finding that it was all too easy to let himself get lost within her own gaze.
He resisted the urge to laugh as she whispered her insecurities, not at the content of her words. But at the sheer inaccuracy of them. It seemed to him that whilst she was grasping at anything that she could, she was naturally good at holding on. She had held his interest from the moment he had laid eyes on her, she had followed him blindly into the depths of his of lunatic ideas. She was doing all that she could to stay afloat, not unlike him. " Well whatever it is that you are doing, you are doing it well." His tone was slightly suggestive, not enough to hint at anything. But just enough to imply she was pushing the right buttons. " That reminds me" He paused and pulled back a little bit, his attempt at holding a straight face was foiled by the grin that continued to slip through. "I think three kiss are owed."
He wanted nothing more than to draw her into a kiss to take the lead like before. Surprise seemed to be her weak point and he didn't want to give her any time to think, to over think. But he knew that would be over stepping her comfort level. So he waited, waited for any sign that she wanted and needed this as much as he did. Any less and he would be content to let the moment pass. Any less would be to cheat on what could be.

i am a flower quickly fading What made her want to take a dance with a complete stranger, right in the middle of the woods? For all she knew, she could be asking for a very particular death wish. But really, did she have anything else to lose? Everything had been taken from her, from her parents, to her childhood, to any chance at a happy life. What difference did it make now to step over the edge. Just one little step...
The young woman who so desperately tried to grasp at something that could remind her that she was very much alive, instead of only living in the midst of a nightmare. "I-I'm not so sure a-about that." She stammered quietly, her hands trembling as she gradually allowed her anxieties to creep up from wherever hole it had decided to stay in before she had encountered the fun-loving man.
Her smile slowly lessened, her gaze looking elsewhere besides the man's own. "T-three kisses? I.." Her voice quieted as she tried to make sense of the man's intended actions. Wary eyes worked hard to continue to avoid the man's gaze, looking from the surface of the water, to the shore that laid not even a handful of lengths away.
There was no one around, right? No one to judge her, no one to abuse her and say that she was messing with things that she had no right to. To be told that she couldn't have at least a brief moment of happiness. She bit her lip as she continued to think a million and one things within her mind, always thinking much more than she should regarding certain subjects. But, she wanted to know what something as apparently as a kiss would feel like upon her own lips.
To know what freedom tasted like, to know what fearlessness felt like. Her gaze finally dragged upwards to meet the man's gaze, their depths held some kind of nervous certainty. Just for the briefest of seconds, she wasn't going to run away. For someone like Sienna, that was a huge, almost crippling leap. "Y-you really want to k-kiss me?" She asked, half wondering if the man was simply trying to toy with her mind, to make her feel like the lowest of the low as some have tried to do many times before. 402 | @chasehastings | cruddy postt

Just like that she crumbled. Fell to pieces in his arms and he doubt that she would be there against him for much longer. Everything he had been admiring before came apart. He could see the indecisiveness roll off her in waves. Her mind ticking over no doubt thinking on everything that could possibly go wrong. Sweating out every tiny insignificant detail. He knew that he should be comforting her, reassuring her that everything would be ok. But he wasn't that kind of person, he hasn't a fortune teller and he sure as hell didn't know what had happened to her in the past. He was not the kind to be so damn insensitive to assume he knew near enough to be of any comfort to her. He was a realist and not one to save peoples feelings at the expense of the truth.
He let her words tumble out, letting her fears rolls out in every way she was capable of. He didn't try to calm her of comfort her. This was he choice now, no one was going to force her hand. He couldn't make it easier for her, it had to be her doing, so that tomorrow when this felt like a dream. When he wasn't there to hold her together any more. She couldn't blame this on anyone, she couldn't hide from the fact that she had made a decision, she had chosen life over the dark shadows. He of all people knew the importance of this.
At last he saw her hold his gaze more than she did the waters edge. It was as if subconsciously she was choosing his arms over the safety and comfort of what she knew. Then it was as if she was making a choice, her desires over riding her fear. He wanted nothing more than to answer her, convince her that it was ok, that he was one of the good guys. But no words, no matter how much she craved them would help. He knew what she was waiting for, the words that would stop her from thinking. He knew what to say to make someone feel at ease, it was simple. Yet he couldn't do it, it would be temporary and she would leave worse than when he had arrived. "Yes" that one word alone was laced with both longing and desire. Yet he didn't beg, he didn't try to convince, he wanted her to chose.

i am a flower quickly fading She so desperately wanted someone else to make the decision for her, to make the mistake that she didn't want to make. Yet instead she was forced with choosing her own road to poison, her own way to fall over her own choices. "Chase..I.." It had been a good couple of minutes since the woman had been able to form a string of words into a full fledged sentence.
Her heart only sunk more into the bowels of her stomach at the man's one worded response. "I..I.." She stammered, suddenly feeling able to relate to an army of ants underneath a magnifying glass. What did she want, exactly? Did she want to crawl back into her little world of solitude and go search for her horse and get the hell away from this random stranger?
Or did she one to venture a little further from her zone of safety, to something that she didn't know. It was then that she realized, if only for the moment, that anything would probably be better than the house of fears and shadows that she insisted upon trapping herself in, something that even the best of medications couldn't keep at bay twenty four seven. A trembling hand was placed gently on the man's bare chest, the woman's gaze following her own movements before looking back to the man.
Don't think, just jump. Probably the worst advice anyone could have given to someone like Sienna of all people. It was hard to not think about her actions, it was almost like an internal fight with her own way of thinking. Sienna leaned forward and loosely wrapped her arms around the man's neck, someone who was completely a stranger. For the briefest of moments, her gaze shifting to the man's mouth, before looking back to his eyes a certain mischievous curiosity glinting in the depths of her own eyes. "O-okay." She squeaked a verbal response finally, hopefully she wouldn't come to her senses anytime soon and ultimately kill whatever mood had been set upon the pair. 361 | @chasehastings | hurr

It was painful to watch this internal struggle. Minutes passed before she spoke again, with it came her hand, pressed up against his chest. It gave him some hope and yet he still didn't make a move. Her hand warmed up the skin on his chest and he realised all too suddenly how cold it was becoming. They had been motionless for some time now and it had't been warm to begin with. Subconsciously he drew her in closer, forgetting to care about boundaries.
He felt the cold rush back as she removed her hand, goosebumps filling its place. Then unexpectedly with an uttered okay, her eyes speaking with just as much permission she folded her arms around his neck pulling him ever so slightly forward. Sliding his hands to her lower back he brought her in closer, taking a second to flash her a smile before leaning down and kissing her. He closed his lips gently over hers, kissing her lightly three times. With each kiss he pulled back ever so slightly and whispered " One, Two, Three"
He didn't pull back after the third kiss, instead he pulled her into it. His hands moved up along her waist over her ribs holding her up out of the water so that she was level with him. The airs chill all but forgotten as he finally gave in.

i am a flower quickly fading The miniature multitude of kisses was enough to set her off balance, unknowingly leaning into the man's affectionate gestures. It sent a shiver down her spine, something that almost felt like a strong shot of whiskey. But it felt so right and wrong all at the same time that when the man further pulled her into the kiss, she pushed against his chest with her hands, a rather panicked expression on her face.
A frown wiped away what had remained of her smile, she herself looking quite distraught. "I'm sorry!" She apologized quickly, before moving out of the shallower parts of the water and back onto the safety of dry ground, the sandy shore.
She felt bad for just up and running off at the last minute, but she just could not deal with the sudden flare of emotions that had risen from the abyss of her existence. With uncertain, frantic movements she quickly slipped back into her casual attire and headed off towards the woods, frantically calling and looking for her equine companion.
After several moments of calling and whistling for the stallion he finally appeared from out of the brush, seeming to have found a new mud pool to wallow in. With trembling hands she mounted up on the horse and nudged him quickly into a canter, disappearing into the wood.
