[googlefont="Poiret One"] Okay, let's be honest.
Cody was nosy. (But he liked to call it curiosity)
After the ashen dogman had left the safety of the cabin, the wolf shifter had taken it upon himself to trail Archaic. He wanted to know where this dog lived that was so great, and who this important human of is really was.
Sure, it could be interpreted as stalking, but was there any harm in valuing companionship? Cody desperately yearned for a real friend, someone who wouldn't leave him behind. Someone who wouldn't forget that he was a living, breathing soul just like everyone else.
The fluffy red wolf had dragged himself through the streets and had managed to avoid the grabby hands of humans and the occasional lunge of a dog catcher. Sure, he could have changed into a human and made his life much easier, but that just wasn't how Cody's mind worked. He was more of a 'do it now, ask questions later (probably never) kind of individual.
He continued to move about the city, his nose planted to the ground as he tracked the canine like a bloodhound. Moments later he found himself standing in front of a door and he sat back on his haunches, his head tilted to the side. Must be the place. He thought to himself as he studied the door through dark brown eyes.
What now?
It wasn't like he could just barge in tail a wagging. He was coated in mud and to be honest, he reeked of garbage. It would be hard to tell the difference between him and a plain jane dog. He was just downright filthy at the moment.
Of course, Cody lacked common sense at times.
The filthy animal stepped forward and scratched at the door with a clawed paw, wondering if there would be any answer. It didn't take much for him to become impatient and soon he was whining and howling at the door. Perhaps there was no one home, maybe he wasn't the great tracking hound he liked to think of himself as. With an abrupt snort he turned away from the door, prepared to head on back to the woods despite rain falling down all around him.
notes: pfft i made cody a normal sized wolf now, instead of friggin barbarian. anyways i hope this is okay :3 i suck at starting. ahh i missed the bromance tho<3

The worst feeling was never the loneliness, but instead the feeling of being forgotten by someone you can't begin to forget about yourself. And, though the ashen mongrel shifter would never admit to it, that was very much the situation at hand. He hadn't been welcomed with open arms, that much was for sure; with Quintin having made another departure to god knows where, as per norm, he'd ended up leaving the mongrel out in the cold. And, he couldn't exactly barge the door open or pick the lock with this amount of people around. Thus, instead, he'd sought to venture the streets, ended up roughhoused by a stray dog, and having to poke around humans for some sort of assistance; a definite blow on his infamous manly pride.
Upon his return, the man had been present this time around, but the mongrel had generally been ignored. For the most part, the only attention he got was treatment for his wounds, being fed, and receiving the occasional pat. It could have been worse, for that he was sure, though he hated to see the man in such a way. It wasn't that he seemed upset or depressed, no, but it was more the lifelessness. The guy always seemed so tired.
Coincidentally, it was one of the only times that he had managed to fully capture the man's attention through positive means. In a final effort, his weight has slouched across the man's legs, and despite the discomfort of the position he was forced into, it seemed to be worth it. He felt teal eyes resting upon him, and turned crimson-hued irises back upwards towards them with a quietened huff of acknowledgement. His muscles relaxed beneath the frail hand, noting the way the scarred limb intricately avoided his own wounds. He didn't question it of course, enjoying the only real moment with the man he'd had in weeks.
However, said moments had a tendency to be interrupted. The sound of scratching against the door, though unheard by the man, immediately caused the ashen mongrel to jerk upright, his frame immediately tense. Audits pinned tightly against his skull, bounding from the couch and padding through into the hallway, eying the door carefully. It was then the uproar of howls and whines erupted from behind it, drawing a harsh growl from the dark crossbreed. However, he recognised the tone of the racket; he knew that whine anywhere. The sound rattled in his memory, rebooting his common sense. The defensive mindset faded, however, there was little time to react before the dishevelled human passed him, and went for the door handle.
And, there he was. The brown wolf from the cabin in the woods, bathed in moot from ear to paw. He wasn't entirely sure what he was meant to feel towards the unexpected arrival. His ears tipped forward, and his eyes glimmered with curiosity, though his frame was held in a defensive position behind the man.
Teal eyes blinked slowly down at the form of the brown canid, dishevelled features knotting into that of confusion. "U-uh... H-hey?" He didn't know the wolf, that much was for sure. The canid didn't appear as if h belonged to anybody, judging by the amount of filth upon him. Something in the dishevelled bipedal's better nature had his gaze softening, and slowly, he moved himself into a crouch, extending one hand forward. Poor thing. After all, this was just a dog, right?
The mongrel's crimson hued gaze snapped from the extended hand towards the wolf, remaining tense. It was awkward, that was for sure. He silently willed the wolf to keep quiet about their abilities, and to react in the manner that the human clearly expected. Why was Cody here? Was something wrong? Had something happened? [googlefont="Poiret One"] For a moment the wolf was beginning to think that no one was going to come to the door. But, there was no use in having negative thoughts now was there?
Small, fluffy ears soon pricked in alertness as he heard slight sounds coming from inside and just as he was having second thoughts about his little "visit" the door swung open. He was greeted by a funny looking man with avian-like features which invoked a curious tilt of his head to one side.
His gaze shifted slightly as he caught a glimpse of his self-named friend, "Archie". A sheepish wolfy grin lightly crossed his features and his tail began to wag rather furiously against the concrete.
Oh wait. Someone was talking to him.
Cody shifted his attention to the crouched human and the single, extended hand. His goofy expression faded and his tail began to wag more slowly as he tried to decipher if it was a good or a bad thing to greet this man.
Okay, he was seriously beginning to have second thoughts.
What if Archaic hadn't really been his friend, and had known he would follow him and his so called master was actually some kind of animal collector that was out to make fur coats out of mammals? The mere thought of it caused the filthy canine to tremble for a few moments.
A whine came from the wolf, a language that only a fellow canine would be able to interpret. 'Is this your master? The wolf shifter whimpered as he peered at the black mongrel through large eyes. As if Cody wasn't able to hold his own in a fight, at times he acted like a big baby.
Gathering some form of courage he lowered his muzzle and sniffed the man's hand delicately. It smelled of a stale home, or at least that's how Cody would describe it and much to his surprise, he didn't smell like a bird (even though he looked very much like one). Cody took great interest in smelling the man's hand, shoving his muzzle along his palm whilst eagerly sniffing along his palm and wrist before finally delivering a friendly lick.
The shifter then sat back, his tongue lolled out as he sent out a shrill, playful bark more or less to the man's dog companion, but as he was looking towards the man it would have seemed like it was an invitation of play for Quintin.

Crimson hued irises carefully surveyed the filthy canid, his lip curling slightly in disgust; how could the kid just prance around, being that dirty? Sure, the wolf didn't like baths, but this was just ridiculous. The oddened grin cast towards him did nothing but cause a frown to tug at his features, though there was humor set in his irises, his tail giving a lazed wag or two behind him. One pinned audit inquisitively tipped forward. "What are you doing here, kid?" to Quintin, of course, it was nothing more than an incoherent grumble of a seemingly playful growl.
Sighting the hesitation of the wolf, however, he cast a warning glance towards the brown canid from behind the dishevelled man, shifting somewhat nervously between his forepaws. Talk about an awkward situation. "What, you expect me to be in a house with a complete stranger? You've met him before, anyway; you should know." His eyes drifted briefly back towards Quintin, features softening slightly. "He is, yes. He doesn't know about... Uh... About us shifters, so just watch yourself..." He met the wolf with an expressionless gaze, before giving a light snort, gaze twisting downwards towards the floor below them.
The bipedal's teal irises eyes softened slightly as the wolf hesitated, his somewhat guarded expression fading, hand retreacting slightly, but still held out before him. "I-It's alright, boy... It's okay..." His voice was soft, even for him, in effort to comfort the canid. He forced his hand to stop shaking as the muzzle lowered towards it, the faint trace of a smile creeping the corners of his mouth upwards. "What happened to you, hm?" He murmured gently, surveying the dirt and filth thickly greased through the candid's brown pelt. It had to be a stray dog, right? It wasn't as if the neighbourhood has wolves running about, now, was it? no of course not quintin. you keep thinking that.
As the brown canid sought to bark, the dishevelled man took that as friendliness, and gingerly extended his hand towards the canid's neck to rub gently. "... You hungry, boy?" If it was a stray, then it would likely be starving. Poor thing. But, for a stray, it didn't look that bad off. Maybe it used to be somebody's pet? Hell, maybe it still was. "I'll... Find you something to eat. How's that sound?" His stuttering had dissipated with the softness of his voice, fairly calm around the dog. With that, he raised onto his feet again and wandered a few paces in, looking expectantly back towards the dog. "C'mon..."
Typical Quintin, the mongrel noted, as the man seemingly decided that he'd take the wolf in, at least temporarily. As the man moved from the doorway, the ashen canid shouldered his way past the door, and extended his muzzle out towards the wolf's ear, to give it a friendly lick of greeting. "It's not much compared to the joys of the wild, but it's home. Just try not to do anything stupid." With that, and a snort of both sarcasm and amusement, he disappeared along the hallway towards the kitchen, while Quintin waited for the wolf.

[googlefont="Poiret One"] The playful growl of words that came from the black mongrel caused the likes of Cody to pause. What was he doing here? Could he admit that he was acting like some kind of curious stalker? Yes, of course he could. It got lonely out there pretty quick so..I came looking for you. He admitted with a muffled growl of a response as though it should have been obvious.
Archaic's next response just invited a snort from the brown wolf, as if he was stupid! Honestly, how rude. Duh old man. I ain't dumb. Most of the time. And I met him as a human so it's kinda awkward now. He responded with another light growl before shifting his attention to the human who seemed to be speaking to him again.
Something about the man caused the wolf to pause, something smelled familiar.. Almost like the fragrances of the untamed woods but not quite. Although at the mention of being hungry all thoughts were pushed aside as his tail began wagging furiously followed by a shrill bark. He loved food, who could pass up on a free handout?
Cody shook his head in response to his friend's greeting, Hey, that tickles. But you can trust me to behave Archie. He woofed quietly as he moved into the house, his brown eyes taking in all that Archaic called home. It didn't seem to bother the canid that he was tracking mud and particles of dead leaves in his wake.
It wasn't entirely his fault that he was dirty, it was raining and muddy for crying out loud. How could anyone stay clean in that kind of environment? He followed the layout of the house until he finally came upon the kitchen, the faint smell of food catching his attention. It was an old, stale smell but it was apparent that it was the kitchen, didn't take a rock scientist to figure that out.
Almost immediately he took the running his nose along the floor, finding a spare crumb every now and again to lap up from the floor. Archie? He whimpered quietly as he looked up, eagerly looking for the black mongrel. Not long after he found himself looking for the bird like man, wondering what he was going to do next. Or rather if he would keep his word and bring him the likes of food.

Awaiting the brown wolf's response, his audits drew fully forward, staring over inquisitively at the fellow shifter. However, as the reasoning was finally unveiled for the lupine's sudden appearance, he shook his head, with a snort of partial amusement. "And here I was thinking you'd grown up enough to be out on your own, kid." Though he'd certainly refuse to admit, the words struck him a little more deeply than the wolf would have likely intended. Of all people, the canid came to him for company. Him, and him alone. Uncertainty briefly passed his gaze, before dismissing both the thought and the motion with another toss of his skull. "Guess I still got plenty to teach you." A smirk that was anything but dog-like passed his features, amusement shrouding his irises. It faded, however, into a slight hint of sincerity. "I'd enjoy the company, anyway."
His ears pinned back once again as the wolf responded; though the mongrel's own words hadn't meant to be harsh, it appeared as though they were taken that way. "Fine, whatever, just don't make it too obvious you know him. He'd get suspicious." He forced the fur to lie flat against the back of his neck, still bristled from the initial shock of the unexpected arrival. Seeing the wolf lost to the thought of food, however, he huffed in an amused fashion, allowing his weight to slip back onto his haunches, taking up a sitting position, glancing briefly towards the avian-like man.
Sighting the canid's reaction, the dishevelled man allowed a faint chuckle of amusement to slip from him, smirk tugging at his features. The dog (or at least what he thought was a dog) had character, that was for sure. With that, he drew himself upright again, glancing back at the pair of dogs a few steps down the hallway.
He studied the wolf in disbelief for a moment, though not at the fact that he said he'd behave himself. "So ticklish too, hm?" He paused, experimentally nudging his nose behind the wolf's ear, before retracting his maw and studying the lupine. "You better," he mumbled in response to the fact he said he'd behave, and in noting the fact that Quintin hadn't shut the door, he shoved his weight against it, grunting lightly as the familiar click sounded. With that, he trotted along down the hallway after the dishevelled man, only briefly turning back towards Cody. "As soon as he takes his eyes off you I can show you around the place. I don't know how long you're planning on staying but..." He trailed off with a shrug, before disappearing back into the kitchen.
Following the ashen mongrel into the kitchen, the man noticed the filthy paw prints being walked around the floors, but silently promised he'd clean it up later, instead focused on the task at hand. What did he have that the stray could eat, anyway? He had dog food, obviously, but Archaic himself never seemed to like it that much; not just the brand, but generally all dog food. It was a bit odd, but he didn't question the mongrel's preferences. Chicken and rice seemed to be one of the mongrel's own favourites to eat, for whatever reason, so that'd probably do the stray just fine. Didn't take too long to prepare either. So, he went about boiling the rice and such, and with ready-cooked chicken, he had two fairly generous bowls done in about five minutes.
Though the mongrel had briefly departed into another room, however, the sound of the wolf's call brought him trotting back, casting a questioning glance over towards him. "What?" He lost that train of thought, however, as the two bowls were set down. "Dig in," the dishevelled man placed them on the floor before the two dogs, teal eyes set upon the pair of canids Not needing encouragement, the mongrel did just that, immediately digging his maw into the meal. He savoured the taste, only pausing to glance up at the brown wolf to check if he was eating himself. "I know it's not exactly fine dining, but by domesticated dog standards, its pretty good."

[googlefont="Poiret One"] It didn't strike the brown canid as weird that he had dragged himself this far out of his comfort zone in order to reunite with his new friend. Although his train of thought was derailed with the mongrel's comment. A somewhat disappointed snort came from the canid as he continued his trek towards the kitchen.
At the last touch to his ear, the canid viciously shook his head side to side. "Ah, stop! He yipped as he walked (more of a run) towards the other room not wanting to be the result of some tickle fight.
You know, it wasn't like Cody didn't know what a house was like after all he had lived in one a couple of times. He wasn't a caveman of all things. "I know what a house looks like Archie. Rooms, couches, beds, tv, carpet. Toilets. Food." What an odd choice of words to string into a sentence.
He watched the avian-man move about the kitchen heating up food as he went, oh a human that fed real food to their pets? Interesting. His best friend Lilly, the frail mentally broken woman (who was fully aware of his human side) fed him kibbles and bits like he was some kind of pet shop animal.
When the bowl filled with fresh chicken and rice was set in front of him he didn't even need reassurance from Archaic to persuade him into eating the food. The brown canid didn't even hesitate as he shoved his muzzle into the food and began devouring the food without even bothering to chew. Of course, after a few seconds more he found himself hacking and coughing like an old man as he choked on a morsel.
After coughing for a moment more he finally got a hold on himself and managed to devour the rest of the meal like some ravenous animal. He held no shame in licking the tiniest fragments that remained in the practically empty bowl. Finally deciding that there was nothing else left in the bowl he sat back on his haunches, swiping his tongue over his maw.
Jaws parted in a yawn to reveal sharp ivories. "That was absolutely delicious." He woofed quietly as he got to his paws and butted his muddied head into the black mongrel's shoulder. Would Quintin think it was odd that the brown canine was so friendly already to a dog he wasn't even supposed to know? Then again, for all he knew Cody could have just been super friendly (which he was).
A back paw came up to furiously scratch at a spot just behind its ear, dirt and fleas flying every which way jesus cody. "I followed you out here because I thought I wouldn't see you again. The wolf finally admitted sheepishly as he lowered his head, was he really giving Archaic the puppy eyes? Yes, yes he was.

The mongrel's darkly toned audits switched forward at the sound of the disappointed snort, and though he barely gave a physical reaction to the noise, the notion somehow sat heavily on his chest. Maybe it was purely the fact he didn't want to disappoint, maybe it was just because this was Cody. He didn't know, but the thought dissipated as the feeling faded. However, as the wolf shook his head, the mongrel released a quietened huff of amusement, hesitating briefly, before ambling after the brown canid.
As the shifter retorted, however, the mongrel's ears immediately pinned back against his head, tail ceasing its light wagging. "Well, y-yeah, I know... I-I just thought..." His vocals trailed off, his expression falling slightly. He turned his back to the wolf, feigning false interest in the man pottering about the kitchen. Crimson hued irises trailed the dishevelled man, haunches settling on the ground, saying nothing more.
Upon his irises twisting over to the wolf, a faint trace of a smirk briefly passed over his facials, before returning to his own food; the sound of choking drew his attention back upwards. His frame tensed, and his muzzle extended towards the wolf, though as the shifter managed to sort himself out, he retracted it promptly. He looked briefly as though he wanted to say something, though silently returned to his own meal, keeping one eye on the wolf.
Hearing the yawn of the wolf, his gaze twisted upwards, swiping the final mouthful of his own food. He snorted lightly at the shifter's words, and upon feeling the bump on the shoulder, a subtle grin briskly passed over his face, despite the dull, throbbing pain in his wounded shoulder. Thankfully, his ashen pelt did a good job cloaking the wound, due to its length. "You should be here on a sunday. I don't know what the hell he puts in that bowl, but I can't say I've tasted better."
Granted, the friendliness between the dogs immediately did seem a little odd, though the dishevelled man sought not to question it. Teal eyes surveyed the pair of canids, though he said nothing, allowing a trace of a smirk to pass over his facials. That was, until the wolf flung dirt and god knows what from behind his ear. "Whoa, okay, you need a bath, that's for sure." With that, the man disappeared upstairs, presumably to run said bath.
Crimson hued irises followed the man, chuckling light heartedly. He knew the wolf hated water, baths, and whatnot, but he'd have to deal with it if he was going to stay here at all, nevermind the length of time he was here. Speaking of which, how long was the wolf planning on staying? It couldn't be forever, that would be absurd. Or was it? He didn't know what the brown lupine was planning, after all.
The wolf's statement, however, caught the mongrel offguard. He knotted his gaze back onto the brown canid, brow furrowing slightly. "Cody, why would you not see me again? I wouldn't leave you behind." The sight of the puppy eyes caused his gaze to soften slightly, though he gave a huff of amusement at the notion. "I promise you that." He delivered a gentle, friendly lick to the wolf's head, before slumping down onto his side with a deflating huff.

[googlefont="Poiret One"] Archaic's words fell upon deaf ears as one of the most dreadful words in existence came out of the avian man's mouth. It was as if the brown canid's entire demeanor changed within a split second.
His ears fell back against his skull and his tail drooped. "A bath?" He whined as if it were a fate worse than the sound of nails against a chalkboard. "I don't do baths. No way, now how." As if to prove a point, he craned his body and used his teeth to chew at a particularly itchy spot on his hip.
When the itch had been taken care of, brown eyes began to search the place frantically for a good hiding spot from the dreaded 'bath'. If one didn't know any better, they wouldn't have ever believed that Cody was actually part human.
Getting to his paws, the shifter made a mad dash for the safe haven underneath the nearby kitchen table. He moved himself so that he was positioned directly underneath the center of the kitchen furniture. "This is a torture chamber, Archie. A torture chamber!" He whimpered as he sank onto his belly and dropped his muzzle onto the cold, hard floor.
A bath? Were they insane? Who actually did that? Bathes removed all the fancy scientific things that kept everyone healthy...or wait..what was it again? The shifter had forgotten the nifty little fact he had learned a few months prior, regardless of his lack of knowledge, he wasn't going to come out from underneath the table.
Perhaps the avian man, Quintin, would forget that he had ever let a so called stray animal into his house. He could just waltz on over to his television or video games or whatever the heck the man did for fun and just took a long cat nap.
"Christ..." The wolf whimpered as he pawed at his muzzle with one of his tawny colored paws. It was as if it was the end of the world to the wolf (pretty much was) because of little bit of water. The brown furball looked about ready to make a run for the nearest exit, but as he set his gaze on his ashen friend he found himself not being able to get his feet to move. He didn't want to leave, heavens know why, but he just didn't have it him to leave just yet.
After for what seemed like ages the muddied canine crawled out from underneath the table, inch by slow inch until he was able to fully get to his paws. "This is wrong, I don't like this. This is awkward, isn't this inhumane? Murder? Abuse? Something. It has to be illegal. I plead the fourth amendment!" To the human, it would have came off as a serious of yelps, barks, whines, lengthy howls and just all sorts of calls of the wild, fearing the worst from the dreaded 'bath'.

These scars are just a Crimson hued irises silently surveyed the lupine, rasping his tongue briefly over the lupine shifter's forehead, and in receiving no apparent reaction, he slouched unceremoniously down into his side, releasing a ragged huff, wincing lightly as his injured shoulder collided with the terrain. However, the throbbing pain only caused the brief notion; he revealed no sign of the pain afterwards, dismissing it promptly. Now, while he had been expecting the wolf to give a reaction, let's just say it was a little larger than he was initially anticipating.
One ear hesitantly folded back against his skull, the other perking forward, observing the brown canid inquisitively at the first whine from the wolf. "Yes, a bath, Cody." His body shifted slightly, readjusting his frame's position subtly for further comfort against the hard flooring. "Well, I'm afraid that's what people do to their dogs, sometimes." True enough. Clambering back onto his feet, he settled his crimson tinted irises onto the wolf, studying him quietly.
His sides heaved in an irritated huff as the wolf disappeared underneath the kitchen table, taking a singular pace forward, head dipping so that he could see the brown canid. "Calm down, kid; a bit of water never hurt anyone. If you think this is torture, then I don't get how you last in the wild," he snorted lightly at that thought, though dismissed it with a roll of his large shoulder blades. Though most might have been amused by the brown wolf's situation, the ashen mongrel was anything but amused. "It ain't like it's going to bite or something, jesus." pfft get a sense of humor archaic god.
He gritted his teeth in annoyance, gaze fairly stern as he looked upon the wolf. "Now grow a pair and get out here, kid; it's water. There's barely enough in a bathtub to even come close to drowning yourself. Besides, I wouldn't let you drown, you know that." It was true; he likely wouldn't be able to handle seeing the lupine shifter injured, let alone the wolf having drowned in his own home. Well, Quintin's, but technically his home too. Whatever.
Eying the filthy canid carefully, he snorted down at the wolf, unable to understand this hatred of water. It just seemed so unjustified. "None of this is fucking illegal, it's a perfectly normal thing for people to do to their pets. You hear me, NORMAL. D'you need me to spell that out for you?" He scoffed, shaking his head. "Why'd you hate water so much, anyway? You never did give me a reason for that."

[googlefont="Poiret One"] Most of Archaic's words fell on deaf ears as they did next to nothing to comfort the wolf shifter. He had plenty a reason to be afraid of water, some reasons were logical others were not. As the dog continued to speak in an attempt to get Cody to come out of his hiding place, he continued to cower in fear. In honest truth? He was afraid of drowning, numerous times he had tried to learn how to swim, but always flailed and came next to drowning. He was just a rock in the water, or else he had severe bad luck.
Eventually he found himself crawling out from underneath the table, his ears laid against his skull and his tail dragging on the floor. "I uh...baths rid your body of those important bacteria and oils." It was a poor excuse, but at least it was something. Cody had heard Archaic mention that he wouldn't allow the wolf to drown, but fear always made one ignorant of the truths that lied right in front of their eyes.
Cody heaved a sigh and was definitely considering going out one of the windows, a few glass shards never hurt anyone, right? Right. "Just get it over with already. It was nice knowing ya. He whimpered quietly as he cast his glaze towards Archaic before stepping over and butting his head gently in the dog's shoulder, only just remembering the shifter's hidden wounds.
It took a good few moments for the man-wolf to realize that he lingered in close proximity closer than what would have been considered acceptable by certain standards of some individuals. "Sorry." He woofed quietly as he stepped away in quite the hurry, tripping over his own paws as he did so.
A bark-like laugh came from the wolf as he face planted on the kitchen floor before pulling himself to his paws. He felt rather weirded out by the situation, embarrassed even. As if to hide his embarrassment, he began to scratch behind his ear and neck with his hind paw quite furiously, throwing dirt, fleas and now ticks upon the floor. omfg they're crawling. His tongue lolled out in a goofy manner as he nagged a particularly itchy spot upon his neck before finally settling and resuming a sitting position.
Cody watched as miniscule ticks hopped about the floor, and fat ticks crawled towards any crevices they could find. "Hmm, wonder where those came from." He growled softly, casually shaking a paw to rid himself of yet another tick, seemingly oblivious that he was basically a pest palace. @archeratkinson || 452 words

These scars are just a The ashen mongrel's chest heaved in a huff as the wolf practically ignored the vast majority of his statements, his words having brought no visual comfort to the brown lupine. It was evident that the canid likely wouldn't calm down, at least for a little while. He had never particularly been one for empathy, or anything of the like, to be perfectly honest, hence he was barely able to understand the wolf's apparent phobia of the otherwise harmless liquid (unless you sunk like a stone and didn't make any effort to swim, of course). But he tried to understand, if only for Cody. If only to maintain the brown wolf's wellbeing. Not to say he succeeded in that.
Attempting to fully wrap his mind around the whole thing, well, was a somewhat difficult task for him. The ashen canid snorted lightly towards the wolf as he crawled from beneath the furniture, a look of irritation briefly passing over his facials as the lupine put forth an apparent excuse. "Bullshit! Who the hell told you that, anyway?" Crimson hued irises closing momentarily, he released a slow breath. Hell, he felt like the wolf's mother, having to teach him about hygiene and whatever the hell else. Did mothers do that? Hell if he knew. Wasn't like he had much of one. "It's called hygiene, Cody, and it's necessary, especially around humans. You can't live in filth, kid. You'll get old and lonely and diseased with it." Or at least that was the way he saw it; sure, he could last a bit of mud, but that wasn't completely parasite ridden and cloaked constantly in filth, now, was it?
Staring over at the canid with a somewhat inquisitive gaze, the whine brought a light snort from the mongrel, reaching up a paw to cuff the wolf's ear, somewhat playfully. "Hell, I ain't gonna lecture you any more." It seemed as though he wouldn't need to, however, for soon after the wolf had stated that he just wanted to get it over with. His frame braced as the wolf lightly butted him, flinching slightly in response, this time, the constant pressure of it getting to him a little. But, he merely gave a grin, maintaining his posture.
When the wolf backed away from him, however, he released his own gentle whine, his audits pinning against his skull. "No, no, it's alr-..." He stifled back a chuckle as the wolf fell over himself, gritting his teeth, though allowing the smirk to pass over his facials. When the wolf began to scratch parasites all over the floor, however, the dog pinned his ears and jerked a few paces away, shaking his frame. "Keep your ticks to yourself, jesus fucking christ." He shuddered at the thought of the blood sucking critters, rolling his large shoulder blades in attempt to dismiss the feeling. He snorted at the wolf's question, meeting him with a look that purely said 'really?' "Anyway, it should be pretty much done. God knows what's taking the guy so long. C'mon, kid." With that, he trotted down the hallway, briefly glancing back to see if the canid was following.

[googlefont="Poiret One"] thread theme: Stay With Me - Sam Smith A rather annoyed growl came from the wolf, something that was quite odd coming from him. "I'm already old and lonely! He snapped even going as far to reveal his fangs. Nobody hardly wanted him around. Was it because he enjoyed life much more than others? Was it that he came off as annoying? And that was just along the lines of friendship and family ties. He had tried numerous times to romance someone, only to fail every single time. Twenty two years of running around in circles, not a single time had he ever been in a romantic relationship. Sure, he had slept around a handful of times, only to find himself incredibly humiliated not long after. It was probably one of the reasons why the wolf shifter started to favor his canid form over his human form and taken up life as a wild animal. His fur stood on end as he huffed, exhaling as he went. "I'm fully aware what hygiene is." He commented, only to abruptly jerk his head to the side to avoid the dog's paw. 'Good.' He commented, only to feel as though his very heart was being squeezed under some invisible pressure. When did Cody ever get angry? It was something few and far in between, almost nonexistent. Realizing that he had been a complete asshole, his ears fell against his head and his tail immediately drooped. 'I'm sorry. It's not your fault.' He whimpered after a moment as his gaze watched a trio of ticks take up room and board beneath one of the kitchen cabinets. When the dark canid began moving down the hallway, Cody found himself following at a slower pace. 'What's wrong with me, Archaic?' He asked, taking use of his friend's full name instead of his corny nickname. There just had to be something wrong with him that made him so dysfunctional in all walks of life. No matter what it was, he always seemed to fuck up somehow. And to be honest, Cody was tired of it. It wasn't fair that the only place he couldn't be judged and shunned happened to be in the middle of woods. Alone and filled with a harsh depression that weighed down his shoulders. He was too young to have to be beat down by another individual's opinions, yet here he was. He was a lost soul and he was beginning to feel like he didn't have a place in life. Everyone had their place no matter who they were or what they did, but right now? Right now Cody felt lower than even that of a parasite. 'Whether it's friendship, family or love, I can't do either of them correctly. It is why I prefer the comforts of the forest. No one can pass judgement on me there.' He huffed quietly as he lowered his head and followed the scent of the avian like human, Quintin before wandering into a bathroom not even bothering to fret over his fear of water. notes: ;_; @archeratkinson || 537 words

These scars are just a Crimson hued irises seemed knotted to the lupine’s facials, audits drawn back against his own school as his statement was taken far too literally. Instinctively, at the sight of the canid’s ivories, his lip slipped back to reveal his own, shoulders braces in preparation for if the canid did decide to lunge. He studied the brown lupine’s facials cautiously, his forebody lowering slightly, dipping into as much of a submissive posture as his pride would allow (which really just looked like he was hunkering over, but still). “Cody, you know I didn’t mean it like that…” the words came a hushed sound somewhere between a soft growl and whine, tail curling between his legs until the wolf eased off slightly.
Noting the bristled state of the lupine’s thick pelt, an ashen paw flew through thin air and fell back to the ground below them, to which he snorted at. He must have angered the wolf more than originally suspected, for that gesture wasn’t usually refused. “Fine, be that way.” To be honest, he payed no mind to the fact he sounded like a bratty little school kid caught in an argument. He looked the part too, pout and all. He set himself into silence, merely sitting himself on the kitchen floor and surveying the parasites crawling about, resisting the urge to shudder.
The unexpected apology, well, went unanticipated by the ashen mongrel as he moved through the hallway, though all he gave in response to the quietened words was a disgruntled grunt. When the wolf questioned him once more, however, his audits immediately pinned again at their context, and he whirled round with a snarl. “We don’t need to discuss what a good person is, Cody. You ARE one for fucks sake. The only thing WRONG is the world that you live in.” With that, he whipped round once again, releasing an aggravated huff, unable to understand how he was supposed to approach the somewhat sensitive situation carefully. Anger was usually his method of dealing with things.
Scaling the stairway easily, he shouldered his way through into the bathroom, crimson hued irises settling upon the dishevelled man, rather expressionlessly. Met with a crooked grin and a gentle pat upon the head, the ashen mongrel swiftly retreated against the back wall, seating himself there. "I was about to call you two," the man stated, teal gaze cast towards the pair, "It's ready; now, are you going to get in yourself, or d'you need me to lift you in there?" Normally, the canid would have made some sarcastic remark, though he remained silent, merely observing.
