Essential Information
Appearance: Perhaps his most apparent characteristic is his size. Standing at 6'3" and not lacking in any way, Lochlan sports broad shoulders and well defined muscles that would only be beneficial in his career of choice. This, paired with a somewhat tense posture could prove to be a bit intimidating. It would appear as if a stern expression has been engraved on his facial features, only brought out by his thin lips and his rather striking eyes, which are a mixture of both teal and gold and are often narrowed. When it comes down to fashion sense, he doesn't have much of one. Tank tops, t-shirts, polo shirts and jeans are about the extent of his style. He could come off as a slob to the particularly picky person, refusing to dress up unless needed and often being coated in dust from spending most of his time at the barn.
Personality: At first glances Lochlan, as stated above, probably looks to be quite intimidating from his size and an unwavering solemn demeanor. He plays the 'tough' role well the majority of the time, being assertive and a bit uptight. He doesn't let much of anything get past him, whether it be in his job in a physical sense or in relationships. That's not to say he's a hardass by any means, or even especially aggressive, he just prefers to get his point across.. and it's easy with his physique. His anxious nature would only come from his somewhat recent and traumatic history and his overwhelming sense of guilt he feels towards it.
But what would assertiveness be without the courage to back it up? Lochlan is by no means afraid to defend his beliefs and protect those he loves to the best of his ability, no matter the situation. That combined with his selfless nature would make him the ideal family man. In fact, he's actually quite the caring guy (*cough* fluffy) underneath his bulk. He has a soft spot for children and any animal really and can often be caught with his own dog, Kane.
In the same regard he's excessively goofy and enjoys having fun, being the type to 'live in the moment'. This would not be limited to drinking and fooling around (but the reason for this will be revealed in his history). Although especially prevalent when drunk, he is also highly impulsive and easily distracted. Sometimes he can even be perceived as rude due to the fact that often times he is equally as impulsive in his speech and often times will say things without thinking beforehand..
History: Every tough guy has a story. This guys would begin no differently. He was born to a single father in Chicago and a mother who soon fled after his birth. He was raised to 'stick up for himself', to 'be tough' so that's precisely what he'd done. Even as a child he was taught to hold his tears and keep a straight face, to be strong. Those lessons instilled into him would continue to take affect as an adult.
Lochlan sat at the top of the food chain in school, although not a bully, was able to hold his ground. He would often be 'go to' guy in times of other peoples' need, making him popular in general, however more so with the 'unpopular' crowd. This was bit odd for him, placing him nearly between all of the 'cliques' that existed. It often gave him a sense that he didn't belong, he was nothing but, well, a body guard. In high school he joined the football team and eventually grew used to being the jock that he was, all apart from being an ass of course. He was much to soft to ever pick on those who didn't deserve it.
His teenage years passed quickly for him, being involved in countless sports and spending all of his time engaged in such things. He was never really the 'party' type, not until he met Jenn. This pretty blonde would make him lose track of all that he'd been taught to do, to contain his feelings. It was a love story that most people yearned to have, he grew quickly involved with her and her partying antics, much to his fathers dismay. The two graduated with plans to get married and run off into the sunset together.. so they did, but this story is far from over.
He took up several jobs in various departments, the most relevant one being a Bouncer at the local clubs. It was what he'd been doing his entire life anyways so he quickly grew used to it. Several years flew by in their relatively uneventful life, work, love. They had it made, with little drama and only each other. Lochlan often had plans to go to college, filling out the applications several times, but somehow never sending them in. Especially so once they discovered Jenn was pregnant. They were young, only 25 at the time, however thrilled at the prospect at starting a little family. Lochlan put his college dreams to bed, rather spending his time supporting his wife through her pregnancy.
Nine months later he became the father of a little boy they named Declan. The bouncing little blonde became his life quickly, being the big fluff of man he was. The little family didn't have much of anything but remained happy with what little they did.
Fast forward five years, little Declan had grown from a chubby toddler into a sophisticated kindergartner who was sent him off to school every day by his two doting parents. Life was good. Emphasis on was. The man was at work when he received the call that his son had fallen on the playground and his head had stuck the pavement. Lochlan fled to the hospital, only to see the boy hooked up to tubes, laying in a coma. Before long death took Declan, and with him, his fathers life.
The grief the parents ultimately experienced split them down the middle. Jenn went one way, Lochlan the other. Of course they had every intention to mend their broken ties, but it would appear life had other plans for that, as well. Several months after their split he was informed that the woman had taken her own life in her grief.
Beside himself in a bitter depression, the now heartbroken man buried himself in his work and grew distant from the world, his own emotions even. Above all other feelings would be his guilt. Being a time manipulator, he had the potential to freeze or even slow time.. however his abilities would not allow him to prevent their deaths. He blamed himself for not being able to do so. The pleasant side of his demeanor fled relatively quickly, leaving only the 'man' that his father had trained him to be. It would take several years to come out of his depression alone, to further escape the pain he fled to California to start a new life. It was here he discovered Puzzles, hoping to be able to return to the man he once was.
