notes words: 701 | Lilly was slowly recovering. She was raising herself out of the pit of depression and guilt with the help of her family and friends. Madelynn and Quintin were providing support, and her new found friends were thorough help. Mickey, Peyton, and Gwendolyn were nice girls and they were conversationists... except for Gwendolyn but she was trying to crack the lock. But she needed to find out the code to her own happiness before trying to find others. Of course she didn't have much time to socialize anymore. Maintaining 2 jobs to hold up her 4 dogs, 3 horses, 2 children, and 1 messed up relationship was a lot of responsibility she probably shouldn't of taken in the first place.
The woman had thrown on a shirt and some shorts, tying her hair into a messy bun she set out for her daily coffee. A hand shoved a strand of hair behind her ear neatly, walking with her palms in her pockets and thumbs resting on her thighs. Her slender frame moved freely among the crowd, passing by the blank faces of others. Bronze eyes stared ahead, stifling a tired yawn from her mouth. Perhaps taking on more than she could handle was a mistake, hm? Oh well she couldn't get out of the contract now, it was much too late for that.
Slowly opening the glass door with a thin hand, her gaze flickered around before shuffling over to the line. She stood there for quite some time, clenching and unclenching her fists in a frantic and anxious motion before finally clearing her throat and quietly ordering her coffee. She didn't particularly like making demands as she was the one who usually took commands and wishes to not set off the balance of her little once perfect life. So even now it was incredibly uncomfortable to do, she forced herself to anyways.
Her fingers curled around the hot cut, palms resting on it. She moved towards a particular table she favored next to a window. It was where her and Emmett had their actual first kiss and they had their first real date. Oh if only she could go back to those simpler times. Staring into the small white cup, she could see the wavering movements of the light liquid.
"How about... why are you so giggly today?" He asked, causing a smile to curl onto her lips. Her head shifted to rest in her hand, gaze flicking out the window before looking back to him. "Because you're here." The woman answered with a goofy grin. A hand slowly brushed her bangs out of the way in an attempt to hide the heat that had fought to rise to her face the moment he had arrived.
Opening her eyes once more with a sigh, she lifted the cup to her lips, sipping on the hot coffee. Her mouth had gotten used to the sweet and yet piping temperatures, considering the fact she got the same thing every day. Her scarred hands dragged across her facial features, feeling the scabbing rub across her smooth skin. She honestly felt like crying again and these memories weren't helping... but that's why she sat here. Her arms crossed on the table, forehead resting on them as she arched her S shaped spine.
"You should know what you get now, right?" The blonde woman asked, leaning closer as forearms rested on the table. "Hmm?" The man had answered. A small chuckle rumbled from her throat. "You know for a clever man, you're really dense." She playfully teased with a smile. "So i've been told." He answered before she leaned forward to press their lips together once more.
Squeezing her eyes shut, she fought the cries the threatened to wrack her body, frame softly shaking. If only coffee could be as comforting as Emmett's embrace, then everything would be so much happier in the morning. The sun could shine on her face when she would wake up but she was not as equally as bright, neither was her life. But it seemed life hated her, did it not? 926 words notes: so sadddd. this needs a touch of sunshine. CRACKED VENEERS
He wasn't a people person. Never had been and he knew that the future didn't look to busy in his social agenda. That lack of a social life meant talking long walks with his dog and no romantic sunsets after busting his ass renovating the house and working at the barn. Yes he lived a very diverse life of sleeping, waking, showering, eating, working - working out and then repeating. He was living the life, what more could he want and hence why he was walking in like a bed-raggled hoodlum into the coffee shop. He'd decided to switch up his new routine and had went for a morning run after waking, much to Riley's enthusiasm. He'd left the golden retriever at home and decided to be bold and drive into town for a morning cup of joe and breakfast. He hadn't bothered to change. Why should he? It wasn't like he had to impress anyone and he was just going to change again as soon as he got home so he hopped into the cab of his truck in his black basketball shorts, white tank and overlaying black jogging vest. He gave himself a sniff as he settled into the cab and having confirmed that he didn't smell like a complete caveman drove into town.
His brown hair was unruly today as he shifted it out of his face and adjusted his sunglasses, driving down the road. Slowly, but surely he was beginning to become more and more familiar with the area and little excursions like these only helped to familiarize him more. He'd noticed a local coffee shop earlier that week and made his mind up to stop there this morning and found his way there in about twenty minutes. He enjoyed living outside of the city, but then it meant his commute time was more. Simply more time to think and process was how he was choosing to look at it and he found his mind racing of today's to-do list. He had to find a trainer to help him, prep for upcoming races, reno the home....He felt a slight throb of a headache begin as he arrived and put the truck into park. He ran his hands over his face, the scratch of his scuff revitalizing and focusing him. He rested his head on the steering wheel collecting his thoughts. "Get your act together here Lee. One step at a time." Breathing in deep, he exited the cab and decided that step one was simply to get caffeine into his system and food into his belly. He opened the door and the warm ambrosia that was coffee greeted his senses and he inhaled it deeply. He walked forward into the line with an easy confidence that was all "Liam". There wasn't much that rattled or intimidated him, but when it just came to making actual friends he always just seemed to be at a retarded loss. He preferred to be alone most times, but being in a whole new city he was beginning to realize that even he couldn't live solely off of his dog's attention. Maybe today you can actually put yourself out there Lee. He teased himself and snorted at his own stupid inner dialogue.
He walked up to the counter and gave the barrista a smile to slay. He could turn the charm on when he desired to and better to practice now if he was gonna have any kind of hope of making friends in this city. She smiled back as he ordered his black coffee and breakfast sandwich. He paid his bill and placed a generous tip as he waited. He took his cup with a grateful smile and sipped the bitter brew with relish and appreciation. He lived off of coffee. It was a good brew and he made a mental note to make this a local haunt for him. He grabbed his sandwich as it came off the press, warm and ready and he tucked in with hunger and enthusiasm. English muffin, egg, ham and cheese. What wasn't to love?! He chewed his first bite and looked about the coffee house. There were people ordering and dashing and some sitting and reading, but one individual caught his immediate attention.
She looked so forlorn, so sad and it tugged at his inward heart strings and before he even realized what he was doing he found his feet walking and his body moving as he paused by the woman's table. She had the appearance of a woman about to cry and he reverted to his natural instinct to prevent that at any cost, even if it meant busting out of his internal shell. "It's the allergies isn't it? Damn pollen in the air makes my eyes water like the dickens. People think I'm walking water works with my emotions on my shoulder." He winked a sympathetic smile at her, letting her in on his lighthearted tease. "Forgive me for being so bold. I'm Liam. New into town and you just looked like someone who could understand my leaking eye plight..." he motioned to the chair that sat across from her, "Do you mind....?" He let the question hang, waiting for her name and noting that there were no other available seats in the shop...His introverted self was screaming on the inside at the bold move on his part. WHAT IF SHE SAID NO? He let himself sweat it out on the inside, but outside was cool, calm with a slight collected smile. Masks were so deceiving.

notes yes happiness words: 463 | Lilly wasn't usually the type to outwardly show her depression but she just needed a good cry right now. She breathed softly as tears slid down her cheeks quietly. Hands clutched at her stomach, feeling the pain burn her abdomen from the scarred word "MONSTER" that had been carved into her flesh with a metal blade. Her finger slid underneath her shirt to touch at her bloating belly, where the scabbed word sat. Her chin moved so it rested on her arm quietly, shooting pain ripping through her belly with a gentle wince.
Her baby. Well... yes it was a baby but it wasn't completely hers. If she considered Emmett her other half then it wasn't fully hers. It was another man's, somebody she hardly knew. And the fact that she did such an intimate activity with a stranger was... it was disgusting. It was unsanitary and she hated herself for it. Nobody could understand what it was like to become something you had hated all your life. She never wanted to become an alcoholic or a girl who did one night stands. Two of the things she hated the most, she had become. Not intentionally of course. She didn't know it was happening until she got her memories back. Her mind worked in a strange way that would be explained another time.
"It's the allergies isn't it?" The woman jumped in her seat, hand sliding from her stomach to rest on her lap. Bronze eyes snapped to the towering man next to her. "Damn pollen in the air makes my eyes water like the dickens. People think i'm walking water works with my emotions on my shoulder" She offered a small grin at his attempt to be sympathetic. "Wish it was." She replied quietly before straightening her back out. "Forgive me for being so bold. I'm Liam. New into town and you just looked like someone who could understand my leaking eye plight..." The dark haired woman let out a snort of a chuckle. "In a way, yeah." She answered quietly with a soft smile. "Do you mind....?" Lilly slowly shook her head. "Not at all, Liam.... I'm.. I'm Lilly. Pleasure to meet your acquaintance." She greeted politely.
Shifting her weight so she could sit properly, she quietly sipped at the coffee in her cup. "So.. Why'd you want to talk to me?" She asked with a curious tilt of her head. "I'm not exactly the best conversationalist just to warn you." She said playfully and yet her tone was still quiet and low, the bright noise of laughter she once had was a bit faded away but still there nonetheless.

519 words notes: chivalry lives! LOST IN TOWN
Well, he hadn't caused the woman to curse at him, give him the finger or violently assault him so this conversation on a whole was already a win in his book. He saw her break out of her melancholy with a slight smile and then she cracked it a bit with a slight smile. She looked to be a more quiet and demure soul with a story that wouldn't just cause it's owner to tear. He felt himself soften towards the unassuming woman and couldn't stop his own slight smile at her introductory greeting..He smiled at her name and then arched an eyebrow in pique as she continued, "So.. Why'd you want to talk to me? I'm not exactly the best conversationalist just to warn you."
He paused and took a sip of his coffee brew before he spoke, slate grey eyes taking in the woman across the table from him. Why indeed did he want to talk to her, well, best to just be honest about it. "Well, Lilly. I think it might have something to do with the fact that you don't make me want to run and hide. I don't deal with people very well and I honestly think that a woman like yourself shouldn't be sitting her alone in a coffee shop crying." He winked at her and took another sip of his coffee and felt his gentlemanly side kicking into gear. He felt the urge to offer a crying shoulder, hell, he'd even deck a guy if he needed too.
"Meeting people has never been my strong suit, most people say I'm just or tactless, but frankly I just find I usually don't put up with people's drama very well." He gave her an easy smile and nodded his head in her direction. "I know we just met, but if I need to go punch someone to make you feel better just say the word." and he meant it. "Anyone nice enough to let a random stranger sit and talk to them doesn't need to be sitting her on their own." He understood what it was internalize emotions and feelings and if left alone could create a toxic situation. He determined tight then and there to either distract her from her worries or be an open ear.
"Don't laugh at me, but I definitely got lost driving into town today. This place is massive, poor Riley, my dog has had to backtrack over the same places he could probably lead me around town. Not me though. I get as lost as a needle in a haystack. Does it ever get easier to negotiate your way around this town?" He peeked over through the shop window and saw Riley's head hanging out the window and sniffing at every passerby. He smiled and knew he was okay for now. Returning his gaze to Lilly he studied her, so demure and subdued, but he loved the soft spirit to her, it didn't make him want to shut down or run away and he felt himself relax in her presence.

notes I ship them so hard e.o words: 806 | Lilly didn't particularly want or need company, or at least in her mind, but it couldn't hurt. Besides with her incredibly needy and dependent personality disorder she needed somebody to help her become 'recovered' in a mental and emotional way. He seemed like a nice guy at first glance, hopefully he would prove to be. She needed the good company and he might just fit the bill to soothe her worries and fears. Hopefully it would wear off when this child came out.
"Well, Lilly. I think it might have something to do with the fact that you don't make me want to run and hide. I don't deal with people very well and I honestly think that a woman like yourself shouldn't be sitting here alone in a coffee shop crying." She blinked a few times in surprise as the man offered a wink. She faintly felt the heat rising softly to her face, making a hand rub the back of her neck awkwardly. You've got to be kidding me. Quit it, you whore! She cleared her throat before offering a small smile in embarrassment. "Heh, y-yeah.. thank you, Liam." She replied before her arm slid back to flop on the cold table. It's probably cause he winked at me... The woman always had a sort of a 'thing' for guys who liked to wink at her.
The woman watched as the man looked almost suspicious at her statement. "Friends, hm?" He questioned before stroking his chin. "Not entirely convinced." He responded before winking at her. She scoffed, a smile lighting her face. "Oh haha very funny. You're so clever," She answered, blood and heat lightly rising to her cheeks in a slight blush.
Now Lilly wasn't one for cheating but she'd better try and contain herself if this man had any ulterior motions or well decided to keep winking at her. Perhaps she should take more company in Emmett should this happen, hmm? "Meeting people has never been my strong suit, most people say I'm just or tactless, but frankly I just find I usually don't put up with people's drama very well." A snort of amusement puffed through her nose at his statement. "Yeah, I feel you. I've been having my own drama for quite a while now, can't seem to catch a break and I wish I had when I got the chance." She responded lightly, trying to keep the air... not tense.
"I know we just met, but if I need to go punch someone to make you feel better just say the word. Anyone nice enough to let a random stranger sit and talk to them doesn't need to be sitting on their own." Her eyes widened slightly. Oh dear... God dammit! The one time I actually meet a guy he's exactly like Emmett! She fought her emotions down, swallowing them along with the hot spit sitting in her throat that was now tightening with worry. This man was so much like Emmett that they could of been brothers (Forget about Andrew). A man exactly like her fiancé? That wasn't a good start. Emmett had been the only one willing to punch a creepy old guy for her and stand up to another at her side, now this 'Liam' man was doing the same! Maybe she should introduce him to Emmett? They could be good friends... A petite hand reached up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "..Thank you, Liam.... You know you're exactly like somebody I know." She pointed out with a smile.
"Don't laugh at me, but I definitely got lost driving into town today. This place is massive, poor Riley, my dog has had to backtrack over the same places he could probably lead me around town. Not me though. I get as lost as a needle in a haystack. Does it ever get easier to negotiate your way around this town?" She quite enjoyed this man. Serene, tranquil, placid almost. She could use normal, non-broken, or angered, (or awkward) company (that she hadn't slept with). Her gaze lingered over to the canine that was greeting the citizens passing by his window before clearing her throat. "Hah, yeah it does. I've lived here for maybe a year or two and I know this place like the back of my hand. I could show you around sometime, if you want?" She offered gently with a grin. "I uh... have a few dogs of my own. 4 of them actually. They're a handful, I can only take two of them out at once." She stated lightly as her hands coiled and unfurled around the hot and glassy cup in her palms.
