460 words for @fredrick A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI The weather was near perfection, but when wasn't it sunny in California? On odd day there would be a storm of some sort, and it was quite common for wildfires to break out in heavily wooded areas. Nevermind that, however, today was a good day and Nevaeh was going to treat it as such.
She was nearly ecstatic that she had reunited with her childhood friend after so many months of being apart. Was it kind of sad that she hadn't been able to make friends successfully in that time? "What did you think of Freddie, Sissy? It was your first time meeting him..huh?" She questioned the white faced chestnut pony that draped her head over her stall door, ears flicking lazily to and fro.
Nevaeh had a bit more dignity than most women her age, so she wasn't going to flailing about, teary eyed and all in an attempt to say just how much she had missed someone. Nor would she voice the fact that in school her heart had always throbbed a little too hard against her chest whenever she hung around Frederick, or even that she may have gotten a wee bit jealous when seeing him around other girls.
But that was in the past, so she shouldn't still feel the same way. Right? The skinny woman found herself being reeled back into reality as the mare slobbered over her light gray tank top. "Oh geez, really Sissy?" As she clipped a lead rope onto the mare's halter and led her out of her stall she realized that dried manure stains were caked on in patches across the mare's coat. "Holy crap, you reek. First thing on our to-do list is to give you a bath. A darn good one." She spoke as she led the mare towards the extensive line of washing racks.
It took only a few moments for the woman to put the mare in cross ties and turned on the water, rinsing off the mare's slender forelegs and hindlegs first before moving to her frame. "But Freddie's cute though, don't you think?" She spoke to her horse who simply yawned in response, not having a single clue as to what the woman was talking about. "Ah, but what kind of guy would have affections for his childhood friend? That'd be kinda weird, right?" She spoke as she turned off the water temporarily and begin scrubbing the mare in circular motions, lathering every inch of her frame with soap in attempt to clean the equine's filthy coat.

“ I'm In Love with my best friend. Being reunited with his child hood friend was a relief. She was a joy to have around, like a happy and bouncing bubble. She was so perky and optimistic, like a former version of his sister. He was always fond of girls that was like his sister. He wasn't sure what it was but he adored his sister. The way she was not afraid of dirt like prissy women or the way she saw the bright side of things, he wasn't entirely sure. But Nevada fit the bill quite nicely.
Her small and lithe body was beautiful, he had to admit. But! Now was not the time for babbling about her particular beauty. He had a beauty of his own, his trusty Thorough Bred, Poet. The lovely mare was nice to have around. She was trained and friendly towards practically everyone, that was something he appreciated. He took good care of her in return of her exceptional behavior.
Slowly taking out his beloved mare to the washing paddocks, his strong and steady hand lead her along to the sound of a working water dispenser. An eyebrow perked upwards with interest, intriguing his curiosity and thus bringing him closer to inspect who else was here. And well well it was no other than his dearly loved best friend!.. but the topic she was specifically talking about to her horse was what was grabbing his attention.
"But Freddie's cute though, don't you think?" Now Fredrick wasn't usually a blusher but boy did his heart flutter at her words. His eyes blinked a couple of times in surprise. His facial features could feel the heat rising to it, blood rushing beneath his skin and his heart pounding against his chest. He quietly clipped his horse to the paddock that was next to Nevada but behind her back. "Ah, but what kind of guy would have affections for his childhood friend? That'd be kinda weird, right?" Inhaling a deep breath, his casanova personality took over him. Taking a step forward to rest his elbows on the fences that separated them, he leaned closer to the woman's ear. "I heard my name?" He purred in a sultry voice.

314 words for @fredrick A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI Company was the last thing she expected in the washing racks, it seemed as though many people were too lazy to give their horses a good rinsing. Or else they paid a working stable hand to do their hard for them.
As she continued scrubbing the short mare in a circular motion, a masculine voice and breath near her ear, she threw the soaped up curry comb in the direction of her offender. "Stay back creeper!" She called, her sudden higher pitch of voice waking her formally slumbering mare.
It only took Nevada a few seconds to realize that it was actually Fredrick. "Jesus, you just about gave me a heart at---wait. You didn't hear any of that conversation did you?" She spoke, arching her eyebrows in mock suspicion. She bit her lower lip, feeling a bit awkward. Oh god, I hope he didn't hear any of that. She thought to herself as she took a step back.
Her eyes went to her mare whom had craned her neck so that she could nibble at the man's shirt casually. "Well, either way you must've been hearing things. Clearly, silly Freddie. I told you to get your ears cleaned but did you listen? Nooo." She added, a uneasy nervous laugh coming from her afterwards.
Swallowing her dignity she turned away awkwardly and went about rinsing the soap from the mare's coat trying to shove the awkward moment away and hide the fact that she was starting to blush as a result. "So, uh I didn't know you boarded your horse here too.." She spoke as she washed the foam water mixture dripped off onto the mare and traveled towards the drain in the middle of the space.

“ I'm In Love with my best friend. Fredrick hadn't at all expected her to squeal in fear, making his eyes widen slightly. "Stay back creeper!" He soon felt the sting of soap and a hard brush hit his face, sliding off slowly. A long drawn out breath blew threw his nose, a frown tugging at his lips. That's what he got for trying to be flirtatious with a goofball. "Jesus, you just about gave me a heart at---wait. You didn't hear any of that conversation did you?" A large hand gently wiped the bubbly soap off his face in slight disgust. He'd rather not get dirty horse-fur covered soap in his eyes today. "I heard it, Nevvy." He grunted back before shaking his head out like an equine.
He felt teeth tugging at his cloth, making his eyes flicker over. A hand slowly shoved its way into the mare's nuzzle as a sign to BACK OFF. "Well, either way you must've been hearing things. Clearly, silly Freddie. I told you to get your ears cleaned but did you listen? Nooo." Oh she lied so terribly. An eyebrow raised amusingly, a smile lighting his face. "Oh yes because you literally didn't just say you thought I was, how you say, cute while I was standing behind you. Yes I know that sounds weird." He responded light-heartedly with a gentle chuckle.
Watching the woman turn away to continue washing her pony, his grin broadened at her nervous demeanor. "So, uh I didn't know you boarded your horse here too.." He slowly hopped up to place his shoes on the bottom bar of the fence, his arms clutching the top part of it to learn forward, his face settling near her shoulder. "Well I do so you better be careful what you say now. Or not, whatever suit your fancy, dear." He answered with a big grin painted across his face. "Now what were you talking about? Affections, hmm? I dunno if it's weird because if it is I might be a little strange, Nevvy." He replied playfully, fully aware of the giant hint bomb he just dropped. It's like Japan attacking Pearl Harbor but it was more like Frepan plopping a bomb onto Nerl Harbor.

354 words for @fredrick notes: >//< A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI Lord, I don't ask for much but could you please just shoot me now? Kay thanks.
She sent out a prayer as she simply could not handle the awkwardness of the situation right now. And having Frederick repeat just about everything she had said previously only made her more eager to crawl into a hole in the middle of the desert.
A small smile formed on her facial features as she lightly punched the man in the shoulder. "Oh hush." She scolded playfully as she stepped away from her now one hundred percent hygienic mare, who had just flattened her ears after being turned away from the man.
Nevada had never had a problem meeting the man's gaze, but now here she was trying to find everything but his eyes to look at. 'You've always been a bit strange Freddie..." She trailed off as she paused for a few minutes to reconsider the man's subtle hint.
On the inside, her heart was practicing for the upcoming olympics, on the outside? Yeah, she was just speechless. "Wait.." She couldn't even bring words to her mouth, her once bubbly, hyper and outgoing demeanor had flown south for the winter. She found herself looking down at her shoes as she tried to hide the large grin that was now pulling at the corners of her mouth. No, no stay calm Nev. Stay cool. Don't get weird. She thought to herself as she cast a glance at her mare who had dozed off again, then back to the likes of her friend.
What an oddball.
She thought to herself as she tried to bring more words out of her mouth and actually verbally communicate, and more importantly regain her cool. "So, are you trying to say t-t---"She paused, interrupting with a light cough as thought to play off her stammer. "That you like me?" Finally got those words out! Jesus. She thought to herself with a heavy sigh of relief.

“ I'm In Love with my best friend. so adorable @nevada 308 Fredrick felt a soft punch collide into his shoulder, making a snort of a laugh erupt from him. "Oh hush." His cheeks actually started to hurt from the big smile plastered across his face. It was nice to know somebody had a crush on him, boosted his confidence in a way. His hand reached over to flick her cheek with his two fingers playfully. She was so adorable when she tried to cover up her tracks.
"You've always been a bit strange Freddie..." He was a little surprised that she didn't catch his drift, an eyebrow raising expectantly. Always a little dense, this one. He wanted to be straightforward with it but come on, he wasn't the one to be blunt with things. That just ruined the suspense and anticipation. "Wait.." His smile lessened into a little smirk. Amusement and delight came over him as he watched her look at several different places thoughtfully. Did she get the hint? He was almost sure she did, but he had no problem telling her again if it really took her this long.
"So, are you trying to say t-t---" He fought the urge to laugh at her adorable stuttering. Honestly was she trying to make him find her cute? But of course he would never ask unless he was feeling really flirtatious... kind of like now. "That you like me?" A satisfied purr rumbled in his throat like he was happy that she finally caught on. "Hmm... possibly." He answered with a smug little grin. "Unless of course you really were lying about me being cute." He pouted like a big child trying to play some sort of guilt trip but really he just wanted to hear her try to say it again in her own utterly adorable way.

407 words for @fredrick notes: (yay) A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI Did ostriches really bury their heads when frightened? If so, Nevada would have definitely wanted to be a giant flightless bird right about now. She had never experienced this sort of thing before so it would be expected for her to feel like the odd one out.
However, Nevada knew her friend well enough to know when he wasn't lying, and he most certainly wasn't lying. "No, no I do think you're cute. Very cute actually." She hastily responded, not wanting the man to think she had been pulling his leg.
So, what was she supposed to do now? Pull out a diary and describe her immense feelings of affection for Fredrick? She almost wanted to snort at the thought. "So, if you really do like me, did this just start after you overheard me saying you were cute?" She asked with a tinge of curiosity before she turned back to her drenched mare.
The woman reached for the sweat scraper in her box of grooming items and started to drag the tool gently over the mare's red frame, swiping away water droplets. It was evident that the girl was feeling quite awkward from the situation as her hands trembled while she groomed her mare. "So, uh..are you entering your mare in the upcoming show? I've already entered Sissy." She asked curiously, trying to grab at anything that would pull the awkward tension away from the conversation.
Shaking the sweat scraper to rid it of it's collected droplets of liquid, she tossed it back into her grooming box. Moments later, the short pony shook out her frame much like that of a dog before stretching her muzzle in a huge, lazy yawn. "Yeah, doing absolutely nothing must be so tiresome, Sissy." She laughed quietly at the mare's antics before scratching the damp mare's neck.
Truth be told, she halfway wanted to run up and hug her best friend, but that wouldn't exactly de-awkwardize the situation now would it? It was all fine and dandy before the man knew of the woman's little crush on him. Now she was beginning to feel like that annoying obsessive girl who crushed hard on someone. "Did I just make everything weird?" She asked as she turned, leaning partially on her mare, who didn't seem to care in the slightest.

RENDEZVOUS - @nevada/notes/351I'm not going to run cause you don't love me Fredrick usually didn't get love stories. Not that often. Everybody over looked what were called the 'secondary' people. His sister was practically famous in terms of friendship and he was just the brother to her. People overlooked him, hardly gave him a glance. Why? He wasn't exactly sure but one thing for sure was that he was damn lonely. Nevada had brought him company which is really all he could ask for. He was grateful to have his child hood friend back. She was the goofy tomboy he had always hoped to have back. Being alone when you're an extrovert wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the world.
"No, no I do think you're cute. Very cute actually." A smile lit his face, practically beaming with confidence and happiness at her form of flattery. In her own kidish and cute sort of way. "Could say the same for you." He answered with a big grin that could make his cheeks hurt. He was just so damn happy. "So, if you really do like me, did this just start after you overheard me saying you were cute?" He paused for a moment before shaking his head. "Of course not, you know me better than that Nevvy. You're a pretty cool girl, how could I not like you?" He replied in an innocent-like manner.
"So, uh.. are you entering your mare in the upcoming show? I've already entered Sissy." He nodded, glancing back at the dark chestnut mare who was sniffing at the back of his head. "Yep, Poet's gonna compete. Isn't that right?" He cooed to the equine before stroking her velvety muzzle. "Yeah, doing absolutely nothing must be so tiresome, Sissy." His gaze flickered briefly to the pair with a small smile before continuing to pet his horse. "Did I just making everything weird?" Fredrick shook his head before twisting his frame towards her. "No, in fact I think you made things better." He responded, a hand reaching over to boop her on the nose with his thumb. ♥

plenty words notes: finally :3 A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI Nevada found herself slowly growing red, blushing in response to the man's flirtatious statements. "Oh, you flatter me Freddie." She blushed as she stepped aside to move her grooming tools back into the nearby box.
She found herself giving a shy smile towards the man's taller mare before scratching her own pony behind the ears. "Oh, stop it." She giggled as she swatted the man's hand away playfully. "We haven't gotten the chance to catch up. I was just about to take Sissy out for a ride..if you wanted to join us? It's okay if you don't wanna.." She spoke softly, although her tone of voice made it evident that it meant quite a bit to her even though she tried to make it sound like otherwise.
The young woman took an uneasy breath, it wasn't like her to be nervous. However, with her hidden feelings for Frederick being out in the open, it made her slightly uncomfortable. Her chestnut mare flattened her ears against her skull, as though she could sense her owner's change in disposition.
Nevada ran a hand through her hair, causing it to fall back in disarray. Rubbing her arm awkwardly, she moved down the aisle and retrieved her mare's tack, hastily tacking up the mare and pulling the headstall up and over her head. "Ah, this'll probably Sissy's last show for the year. She's getting bred to one of the stallions boarded here. Glenwood Eiros I think is his name, gorgeous Irish Draught." She stated simply as she removed the cross ties and took hold of her mare's reins, looking at the man quite hopefully.

more than a shot in the dark Fredrick liked the way Nevada made him feel almost at home in a sense. Like she made him feel like he wasn't alone. Quite satisfying and refreshing to be honest. He was a natural extrovert at heart but lately he's been sticking to the sidelines. And quite frankly he didn't like the spot he had been sitting in for a couple of weeks now. His almighty sister got all the attention, as usual, and everybody forgot about her brother. Oh well, at least he had Nevada around. She was a pretty good person. A better friend to have around and quite frankly his emotions for her was nothing to be ashamed of. She was a perfect woman. Silly and friendly was a good combination he didn't find in a lot of people.
Seeing her precious face light up with a red tint only made his grin broaden greatly. "Oh, you flatter me Freddie." A chuckle rumbled from his throat. A knuckle was placed underneath his masculine chin. "How can I not with a beautiful face like yours?" The man once more purred with his deep and sultry voice. Fingers curled towards his rough palm with this big goofy grin that probably made him look like some sort of teddybear. Blue eyes followed her little and lithe frame as it shuffled around her paddock. He was supposed to be cleaning off Poet but it seemed... something was far more occupying. "Oh, stop it." He allowed her petite and rather small hand to bat his own away with a smile. "What? I didn't do anything." He protested innocently, a hand moving back to push his hair back, black locks falling naturally on a good spot on his head.
"We haven't gotten the chance to catch up. I was just about to take Sissy out for a ride.. if you wanted to join us? It's okay if you don't wanna.." An almost giddy-like nature gripped his heart briefly. "Of course I want to go with you!" He exclaimed brightly. Going anywhere with Nevada was always a joy, whether it be a trail ride or just kicking around rocks, she brought him happiness as cheesy as that sounded. "Ah, this'll probably Sissy's last show for the year. She's getting bred to one of the stallions boarded here. Glenwood Eiros I think is his name, gorgeous Irish Draught." Eyebrows raised surprisingly. "Hey, so is Poet!" He exclaimed excitedly with a big smile. If his smile grew any wider it'd probably fall of his face to be honest. In a fast manner he placed his mare's equipment on her back, doing the necessary buckling and strapping of the equipment. Light gaze glanced over to the waiting woman before gripping his reins and heading after her. "So Nevvy whatcha been doing all this time?"

513 words for @fredrick notes: <3 A PERFECTLY CONSTRUCTED ALIBI Nevada couldn't help but giggle at the man's excessive flirting, the man didn't even hold back on his flirtatious comments. She found herself blushing an even deeper red as she tried her best to not get overly flustered by the man's comments, of course she flailed.
"I never took you for the flirting sort, Freddie."
Then again, she had never seen the man interact with other women when they had gone to school together. For all she knew, Fredrick could have been a mafia leader and she would have never known. "Oh shush, those puppy eyes won't work on me." She commented with a playful roll of her eyes. What a goof She thought to herself, but she continued to smile all the while.
Her happiness was off the charts, in fact it had been a good long while, if ever, since she had felt this way. "Really? I mean, cool. No big deal." She breathed, trying to keep a cap on her extreme excitement, although her heart was beating rapidly against her chest.
As fate would have it, of course both individuals were breeding their mares to the same stallion. "Guess we'll both be parents, huh? I mean...not like...er." She stumbled over her words, not wanting the man to get the wrong idea and cause him to get freaked out by her hasty comment.
Clearing her throat she readjusted her hold on her pony's reins and stepped forward, "To the trails!" She stated hastily, her pony snorting in protest in response to being taken from her sweet horsey dreams of carrots and peppermints.
The sunlight was beaming outside, a beautiful day for a ride nonetheless. "Oh, a buncha nuthin. You?" She asked as she swung up into the red pony's saddle with ease, settling with the reins in her hands. "You know, I'm sure the trails towards the beach would be good, I mean the sun is out and all. Summer's right around the corner too.." Nevada fiddled with her reins, it wasn't like her to be nervous. However, Frederick had been the first and only man she had developed feelings for. She had felt more comfortable when her feelings had not been out in the open, but it was too late for that now.
Nudging her mare's sides gently, the pony picked up a smooth trot towards the beginning of the trail that would gradually lead to the beach. "Can I be honest with you about something? I mean..I've always confessed in you so.." She spoke quietly as though the birds in the canopies felt inclined to listen. "I've been lonely the last couple of years, you know without you and all. I haven't really gotten the chance to make any friends, I mean I have Sissy, but our conversations are a bit one sided." She let out an uneasy chuckle, although her gaze had fallen to her pony's flaxen mane.
