Essential Information
Appearance: Well the first thing about Fei is that she seems pretty bland and normal without makeup or fancy dresses. She looks like a typical person, or maybe even a nerd. She has poor dress sense, as most if not all of her friends will notice and/or point out to her. Often wearing nothing but pants with something of small stylish taste to basic or hand-me down looking shirts she looks pretty boring, if it weren't for that spark in her eyes. Everyone often looks boring at first, until you get to the soul of the person, and Fei has plenty of soul. There is something about Fei's appearance that says it all about her. Maybe it's the smudges of dirt on her pants and the carrot sprinkled horse slobber on her cheek or often in her pony tail, but it adds a lot of character to who she really is, not afraid to get down and dirty. Now, that being said, if there's a dry trail in the middle of rain, she'll be sure to avoid the mud, she doesn't always want to look like a walking hay field/garden, it just happens to be that way. However.... when it comes to show day, or a fashion event(dressing up) you can expect her in only the finest, clean, sharp white breeches, blindingly, bright white shirt, her gelding's socks will be blindingly white, even with the darkest of sandy arenas. Her makeup will be set to perfection, by herself, and she will shock all who know her, even the ones who've seen her dressed up for similar occasions all are shocked. With connections in the family she knows how to properly do her hair and she taught her self most of the makeup but a big sister helped her out long ago. Besides, if you want to be a winner, you have to first look and act like one, in the best of ways.
Personality: Well, absolutely, positively the most important thing to know about Fei, is that she's horse crazy, and maybe just plain crazy. She's got heart and determination, and though sometimes she gets stuck or frustrated, she learns quick and moves on quick, and that's with anything, not just horses. She understands the truths and falsehoods of life. She can walk away from something she knows is impossible or not worth her time without a second's hesitation, but if she senses that there is even the slightest turn around on a person or a creature, good luck getting rid of her, even a rough dump on the ground or even being run over by a few horses won't change this wily girl's heart. She knows deep down that she's probably still clutching to fantasy on horses, and a few of her dreams, but she'd rather be wasting her time dreaming the good dreams, than telling herself she can't do it, that that's just who she is. As far as facts go, there are very few things she's afraid, of, and though they are few, they are important to her, and her fears often rule her in important times. Her first fear would have to be dying alone without having loved and been loved, the second would probably be to fail, and not only in her heart and mind, but in her grandmother's, and third, probably the most important, would have to be having kids and not being able to provide for them. But the positive often out weight the bad, and the first positive is that she's a positive person, always pointing out truly good things with her life and others, and always helping a friend when in need. She's also smart, she knows when to step in to situations and when to butt out, she tries to keep her nose clear of drama and her name away from smear. She's also very fair, which means big strong horses who've been smothered by spoiling owners know not to take advantage of her, although tiny, she is mighty and horses sense this, all but perhaps one, for only he's been her match in one way. Her negative traits are that she sometimes feels a little lost and a little stranded, often wondering if her goals are worth some of the alienation she's put herself through. She's also a big spender, she knows how to save, but sometimes... when she sees a pretty bridle... oh she just has to have it! You can count that as a weakness, as well as her 'ponies' as she likes to call her horses. Anything for them and she's buying it, when it comes to carrots and cookies and jolly balls, and toys, they are certainly her children in a way, and perhaps spoiled from time to time, though she always tries to keep them in check and make sure they do their homework, figuratively speaking, because horses don't do homework, that's absurd. Another weakness is probably staring at the ground when she rides and sometimes, when no ones looking in the early morning rides, she'll close her eyes and half fall asleep when she's really sleepy. That brings me to her dislikes, first off, Coffee, now she doesn't hate it, by any means, but only very few have ever made her good coffee, and that's counting on one hand. As well as abuse, animal abuse, people abuse, it's all the same to her, and she won't have it, now she isn't afraid of a little spanking, kids, horses, some random adults or two, could use a good old fashion rough hand, but only when absolutely necessary and at an appropriate time in training or learning, or else you shouldn't hit at all. She's pretty generic with any other dislikes, such as sprouts and the boring things, but her likes are pretty hefty and she is very positive. She likes chocolate, sour punch straws, Trolli Gummies, advil, lemonade, apple juice, Rootbeer, Smirnoff Vodka(the 2% alcohol sugary flavored kind), anything sweet really, sushi, italian, anything with noodles(honestly, if it has noddles in it she'll probably love it, if she doesn't, you're probably a horrible cook), Fresh fruit, farmers markets, hiking, running(though not jogging, she just enjoys running sometimes, never for extended periods though), Outdoors, camping, and so forth. Now the final and most important thing you must know about Fei, would be her dreams. She has this ultimate goal to go to the olympics, she also wants a family one day, but absolutely most important, beyond anything you know or thought you knew about her, she wants to go to the olympics, and she wants to win. Mind you, she wants to win fairly, and evenly, not because she bought a ready made horse or because she paid Stephen Peters to ride it, she wants to have trained this horse to Grand Prix, she wants to be a professional Dressage rider and someday own her own boarding and breeding facility.
History: It's pretty simple, first thing you'll notice is that her nickname and her initials are the same, just spelled different, you can thank her american mom's sense of humor for that one. Basically she was the youngest of three children, one older brother, one older sister, that's Will and Megan. Now Megan is the oldest, but least important, only for the fact that Megan is 7 years older than Fei and she moved out and left the state the second she turned 18 and had graduated. Now her american mother was constantly working and her Russian father(he'd moved to america when he was around 18-19 something like that) was always busy running his business, he was a dairy farmer and he did well at it. The Family of five moved to Hanford when Fei was three or four, but she doesn't really remember it. Her father settled a new dairy farm there and has been doing well, things are slow right now and with the drought it's been hard, but so far he hasn't had to sell any of the land and they still have 80% of the herd numbers today as they did five years ago, so they aren't doing too poorly. Now Fei's Grandma, Shelly Peters, is the most important person alive to her. Fei's parents were great, but they never really bonded with Fei, well her father has bonded with her more and more, now that she's older, but when ever she had a problem her grandma was there to help her and talk to her, she also rode horses, which in every little girl's mind is the greatest thing ever! But her Grandma didn't jump or do anything super amazing in the eyes of society, she rode dressage, and even Fei will admit, those five years of riding her 14'2 babysitter just learning to walk trot canter and keep him in a circle, over and over again, it was BORING. But she didn't have any confidence to jump, and she certainly wasn't about to start riding western, the saddles are heavier than she is! So she decided to buckle down and give this 'Dressage' a shot. Believe it or not her parents wouldn't buy her a horse, and now that sounds spoiled, but honestly, Fei had always been a good child, she'd never asked for anything, she'd not even asked for new clothes when all the girls at school talked about dances, and she'd seen her brother, who'd been through a tragedy in his early years of life, get spoiled with a pony and a dirt bike, a go cart, she could go on listing the things he'd had, and though he'd always shared his things, it had made Fei feel slighted, as if she didn't matter enough to even be considered, they wouldn't talk about options they just flat out said no. So Fei told her Grandma one day that she didn't want to ride anymore, and her Grandma understood, because she didn't have anything decent for her to ride, she had a mare with a fractured fetlock and an old 14'2 hand pony who was too tiny for Fei at her 16 years of age standing at 5'1, and an old sweet OTTB who could never calm down in the ring. Her Grandma was also looking for a horse to ride, since she herself had nothing. So her Grandma talked to her parents when Fei was at Highschool, and when she returned that afternoon her Grandma called her up and told her the good news! Fei was so excited and even felt a little guilty, as if she had tattled on her parents, but her parents didn't seem to notice so Fei relaxed and enjoyed the fact that she could start looking at horses. So about three months later a thoroughbred popped up on an ad and they went to look at a rescue ranch, and they found her Donte! His registered name is Don'tbeatattletale, and he was probably the fattest thoroughbred Fei'd ever seen, especially at adoption facilities. He had raced and had won a few but injured himself on the track but was completely healed, and he was only 1k! Her parents were happy, Grandma was happy, and Fei was happy.... so she thought. That 16th year of life had been hell. He was the first horse to ever dump her, and he didn't just buck, he'd bolt, and stop suddenly, he'd spin, he'd be nasty and vindictive, it made Fei question everything about riding, but when her parents finally started saying they were going to have to get rid of him Fei balked. Her she had BEGGED her parents, BEGGED, and Fei never begged, to anyone, to get her a horse, and she was just going to let them take him away from her, it felt wrong, as if all that pain and hard work, and dirt spitting had been for nothing. Finally one day he started to bolt and she yelled, she got so angry it scared her, she remembered wanting so much to hurt him so he could understand how she felt, and she remembered feeling mean, like him, like she thought he was, and she realized in that moment how much he was like her. He of course, ignored the scream, if not even more heightened by his passenger's fear, and started rolling his back and stuck his head between his knees and bronc'd as hard as he could. She grabbed the reins and stood in her stirrups, something she'd been told not to do, but hey, when you through out one rule, why not them all at once? Finally she dug her spur in and when that didn't work she pulled both legs off and slapped his sides so he had no choice but to tuck his butt and run forward, instead of bucking. He did, and then tried to spin, and that was the moment she decided not to fear him. She tried to start telling him which way to spin and started making it her idea, instead of his, and when he realized his game wasn't working he started to quit. Now things had been different back then. He'd been uncomfortable, he'd been basically green broke, and also, no one would ride him, except one professional rider at the barn and even as much as Fei and her Grandma had liked this guy and with his spectacular riding ability, he had also claimed her horse was nuts, not that Fei is denying it. But Fei finally decided to take him to a show, either it was now or never, it was his day and his decision and she left it like that, she forgot all about the money she'd put in and the time, she just lived in the moment, and she trotted into that show ring with no fear and came out with a blue ribbon and a 60% and that was with only one spook, which she would call justified, since a trailer was trying to park right next to the show ring and the horse inside was banging like a banshee. That was Fei's first day of living, she'll tell you, probably because it was the proudest she'd ever been, by far the happiest. Life is simple between then and now, Fei moved to San Luis Obispo in 2012-2013 school year, she joined Cuesta College then moved on to Cal Poly and study Agricultural Business Degree, she is pretty close but not quite done, she has two more years left but she found a nearby college in Aurora. She only just moved to Aurora because she'd been down at a Clinic nearby and one of the ladies had talked about a Dressage Trainer opening and after a year of being and Adult amateur and even getting a few sponsored rides with Stephen Peter she decided she wanted to go professional and teach. Now she has her Donte, who's going third level now, but then she also has a super awkward 3 year old filly and another foal on the way, she might keep the filly, or she might just train her up and trade her with the new foal, either way, one is hers and the other will be her grandma's, and it's something she loved doing.
As far as horse history goes, she's started a few horses and has groomed for a few top riders, she doesn't know everything and she's always willing to learn more. She enjoys the babies mostly, she loves teaching the feisty little foals how to walk and pick up their feet, every foal she's worked with has been the farrier's favortie, and that's saying something, most farrier's won't touch a baby, if their good at it that is. But Fei's been really lucky, she's had good quality horses to start with.
