Essential Information
Spiritus: Lorek
Spiritus' Personality: The comical relief that Rick isn't able to provide. Lorek is a goof, and often doesn't seem to take matters seriously. He enjoys his growing hat collection, and often scolds Rick for being too serious. "YOLO" he often says before he attempts to do something incredibly stupid. He's grown fond of baked salmon as of late, and has even tried (and failed) to cook. Bears can't cook Lorek, they just can't.
Spiritus' Appearance: White Polar Bear, with a fondness for hats. He likes to wear hats. No seriously, he loves hats.
Appearance:
He stands at a flat six feet four, and has a messy head of chocolate brown hair. A few gray hairs seem to mix in with his curly locks as he seems to stress too much about the things going on in his life. He enjoys wearing denim jeans, cowboy boots, and button up tops.
He is not a fan of fashion and will not go out of his way to impress someone via fashion sense. It just isn't in his nature. He has a few small scars across his legs and arms from roughhousing as a kid.
Personality:
Rick doesn't typically go out of his way to talk to someone, nor does he beg for attention. If he's alone, he won't complain about it. He seems to lack a good sense of humor, much to Lorek's dismay and annoyance. While intelligent and strategic, Rick often stresses himself out too much regarding the hardships of life. He'll put work before play nine times out of ten, it's easy to say he doesn't know the meaning of living a little and letting go of a few things.
While his outside disposition may make one think differently, he's actually quite caring on the inside. He is a sheriff after all, and will do almost anything to protect the people. He is willing to take risks if it means that it would assure the safety of another poor soul.
It'll take quite a bit of digging to get this man to break and get to his soft inner core. Much like a tootsie pop. How many licks does it take to get to the center of Rick's inner Teddy Bear?
History:
Rick was born to a twin sister named Coprius. It would seem like this story would go quite well, that is until he was forced to part ways with his sister at the age of twelve, his father deciding to separate from their mother due to a heated argument. (Ironically enough, the two adults would later come back together at most twenty years later)
The boy then grew up to be quite quiet, solitary even. He didn't have a mother figure in his life when he needed her most, so his sense of compassion that only a mother could teach had not been embedded into his disposition. Instead, he grew up around his father's solitude, and his father's horrible sense of humor.
Rick found himself not being able to acquire many friends in school as he was always the odd one out, the butt of everyone's jokes, not that it bothered him in the slightest. While walking home from school, deciding to take the scenic route through the woods home, he quickly realized that he was being followed. Out of the brush came a white bear, a young polar bear no doubt that didn't seem to fit in its surroundings.
It was then that Rick discovered that he could actually understand this brute's language, and heard actual words instead of grunts and growls. Curiosity soon replaced his fear as the bear introduced himself as Lorek, a Spiritus. He went on to explain that by some wicked act of destiny, he and Rick were almost like brothers, or rather Lorek was to be his own Spiritus or spirit animal. Rick thought it was strange, but he didn't have any friends, so why the heck not?
He was certain that his father would freak out at such a large carnivorous animal lumbering around the house, so the pair took to arranging meetings in the woodlands surrounding the house.
Once old enough to leave the shelter of his father's home, Rick decided to take time out of his life and become involved in police school, to which he graduated some time after. He worked his way up the ladder until he was able to land a job as the new sheriff in Los Angeles, California as part of the LAPD.
It felt pretty damn good to be out on his own and to have his own place, even though there was a polar bear with a fondness of hats lounging around the house. But it was a few months later that Rick realized that something wasn't quite right, his sister. She needed to be a part of his life. He briefly recalled his sister having some form of relationship with a man that had taken a torn for the worse, but after that he hadn't heard much from his sister.
