Vera was as lost and cold as the rest of the world. Faded from what could be defined as normality, far from being the 'average person', she was.. traumatized. Distant. Confused. And in some strange, twisted way she was just about average as anybody else. We only find peace with another person. The other half of ourselves who make us see who we truly are. Love makes us do crazy things, letting us know the extent of our abilities and capability to find love and continue on with life. She of course had emotions. She had desires and needs too. But they were far different, stranger, unseen by the naked eye. She had the need to live. She had the wish to let Priya become a strong male dog. But in order to soothe her first need she needed to get her food. Trash and table scraps weren't exactly a healthy human diet despite well that's basically the only thing she was accustomed to. The rotten taste tingling and lingering on her tongue was something she had gotten used to. Memories that was left in her mouth like a horribly delightful plague.
So taking it under consideration, the dog finally slunk out of the alleyway with Priya in tow. Her fluffy and flopped ears flickered back to narrow her icy cold eyes ahead. She looked side to side before making a dash across the street, making sure her pup was by her side. The pair ran all the way to the Duck Pond, hoping to be unseen in the crack of dawn. The glistening sun rising over the horizon sent shaking light waves hovering across the land. Sunlight shined across her filthy pelt, the fur dragging in the air past her lean frame before diving into the pond. Head jerked up to look over at the gray and curly puppy who was lingering along the borders. "Are you sure this water's okay, Mum? I mean, what if it's dirty and icky? Should we be bathing in this? What is this even for?" Vera rolled her eyes briefly before offering a smile. "Oh please we eat trash and rats everyday, this is hardly anything. We're trying to look clean, we're going to go eat at one of those fancy human places where they gather." The female adult canine yipped with a vague hint of enthusiasm. Probably something she'd only show her beloved pup. "Well... you do make a point. And I guess if we're going to get food it'll be worth it!" He yapped back before leaping in, sending waves everywhere to which the woman giggled quietly at.
The canine now jogged along the street, dragging her paws as she sucked in her gut as much as she could. It wasn't hard making herself look bony and starved mostly due to the fact that most of the time she was if it meant Priya was well-fed. She lowered her head with tail tucked between her legs. She was playing the part of the lonely stray looking for a home, but really her acting skills were quite exceptional. She was really just looking for some money to steal, and she would have no trouble finding it. She could of gone into her human form but that would mean she would risk getting caught and put into jail for thievery, and has anybody ever seen a dog in jail?
There he was. It was her prey. He approached her with caution but she flashed shiny, blue eyes, desperation glimmering on the surface. Eyes were the windows to one's soul but she had long closed the shutters. She felt the warm palm rest on her forehead, a thumb rubbing behind her ear. A soft whimper of appreciation rumbled in her throat before she ran her skull along towards his pocket, playing it off like her nose was rubbing along his hip (much to her despise). Teeth snatched as the fabric hanging out that was attached to a wallet before gently lowering her head, rubbing the side of her face along a leg as she dropped the container down to the concrete sidewalk. Her 'son' had come up behind the man carefully to clamp his jaws around the wallet and quickly dart ahead, tucking his muzzle down to his chest so the man couldn't see as he bolted past him. Vera had a sly little smirk on her lips before glancing back and dashing off after him. After a few calls of desperation from the human who wished to take her in to his home to care for her, she was still running with her pup. "Good job Priya." She encouraged the little lithe dog. He offered a few muffled yaps but she could hardly make them out before she grabbed his scruff and shuffled behind an alleyway. Shifting into her human form, she still held the pup and her clothes on due to years of experience.
Clutching the clean yet scruffy canine in her arms, tucking the wallet in her pocket, she entered the coffee shop. She had taught Priya that he couldn't be curious in a human gathering (or what she called it near him) in fear that somebody would try to take him. Placing him on the ground, she walked towards the counter with a neutral expression on her facial area. Placing her elbows on the flat surface, she cocked a hip and offered a small smile. Giving her order for some breakfast, she took out 'her' wallet and placed the ID in her other pocket, withdrawing some money from the compartments. Hey, she might of been practically a Hobo but she knew how to count! Her feminine hands gripped the white plate before calmly walking to a table and sat herself down, pup laying across her feet as he settled down for a nap. She ate half of it quietly, making sure to save some for little Priya. Avoiding eye contact with any wandering eyes of strangers the woman looked out the window panes next to her form. An almost wistful appearance crossed across her eyes, a hand dragging across her hair to smooth the blonde strands out. Ice-cold blue eyes glared outside the window at seeing the happy faces of the damn humans. A snort blew out her nose briefly before looking down to the food she had placed on the plate. She might stay for a little while longer, just until Priya was ready to wake up.
If only normality was set by her standards in the human world then maybe she wouldn't be so screwed up as she was. Cold and distant. She was so... different yet so similar to the rest of humanity. If the humane world had a damn ounce of care and consideration maybe... just maybe she would be sitting in a house with Priya. Laying across a soft, brown couch as dull and tired eyes stared at a Television screen with her bed-head hair tied up into a messy bun. But such a dream for her. For others it was just average life as a person. But she was no ordinary person... if you could call her that
