[googlefont="Herr Von Muellerhoff:400"] [presto] [/presto] to love the monsters under your bed She shouldn't be here.
If she had had the experience to be able to tell a good soul from a bad one, she wouldn't have lingered and overstayed her welcome. Yet here she was, lingering in the home of the self proclaimed Phillip, the now one eyed man. Even when she had parted ways with the man from the last incident, she had found herself sniffing her way back to the man's doorstep. Curiosity was the worst poison out on the market in the modern age.
"Philip..are you still angry with me? I am sorry that I tried to offer assistance before."
Eponine spoke quietly as she shed her gaze upon the man's home, observing his taste in home decor. Not too shabby, but she'd take the outdoors to being trapped in the center of four walls anytime. Deep down in her being, it strained her soul to have someone possess a form of hatred towards her. In the painfully short amount of time she had known of the man who called himself Philip, just the feel of her hand upon his facials had been enough to garner the Griffin's curiosity. Full of wisdom and adventure this one, she was probably the most headstrong out of her brethren.
The blond woman lingered by the front door, unsure of whether it was a good idea to say anymore. Even with the loss of an eye, she still believed that the strange man held his own unique kind of perfection no matter how much he denied it. "I wish to apologize further..if I had let my stubborn curiosity grab hold of my thoughts..I would have never trespassed in the woods. Therefore, you would have not found any reason to find a hatred for me. I have brought you unhappiness, and it discomforts my soul." Her voice was almost a whisper as she fidgeted by the door, honestly not knowing what else to say.
Philip was a complete stranger, but leave it to Eponine to venture out and attempt to make friends with someone who would gladly bite the hand that feeds it. She truly believed that not a single thing was off about Philip, but perhaps from her point of view he was indeed perfect. He was mysterious, a hidden treasure that she aimed to figure out. Eponine strongly liked complicated matters and the one eyed man couldn't be any more complex. "If you deem the old saying..to take an eye for an eye..you may..." She was honestly trying to grab at anything, if it would remove one's hatred for her, she was daring enough to do such a thing. Or was she? At her own words, she flinched knowing full well that her words were nonsense, but it had been said and she couldn't take it back. made by ∆ ashycat of adoxography

what if tomorrow is too NOTE;; Kind of explicit, kind of M rated... Yeah, I suppose just don't go in for it if you're faint of heart? IDK xD It's just weird. It's just mene.
They said that the greatest pleasure in life was conducting things that others never believed you to be capable of doing. And whilst he sought such pleasure with great interest, men are always more willing to repay an injury than a benefit, for whilst gratitude is viewed as a generic burden, revenge was another word for pleasure, just as dreams were akin to weakness, or at least through his eyes. Or, rather, eye. He had been rendered as such by the encounter with the pack of feral canids, and the pretty little blonde-haired griffin shifter, Eponine. Ever since the encounter, he had been craving her company, wanting nothing more to be able to stare into those crystal irises of hers; a celestial phenomenon, a shade that should barely exist within the likes of mankind, pure nebulae. Nothing quite shined as brightly, nothing quite sparked anything so deeply within his chest. What exactly, he wasn't sure, though even the thought of them drove him wild.
Oh, but yes, this one was certainly an odd one. No, not Eponine, but the woman that now lay before him on the bed, her hands bound to one of the bed posts, his operational iris surveying her bare frame with interest, him remaining fully clothed. She seemed to have a distinct taste for pain when it came to pleasure, fetishizing agony. It was odd, though he was usually certainly willing to bend his own ways to work alongside her odd desires. That was, until he'd known her to sleep with another man. Perhaps she was a prostitute, perhaps that was her job, but with Menelaus being Menelaus, in all his obsessive and possessive ways, viewed her actions as unacceptable. He'd warned her, promised her with money, a place of which she could call home, a place in his heart, however long she could please him. She had gone against her own vows that night, and he fully intended to make her pay for it. Though there was lust within his eye, there was nothing but hatred boiling inside his chest; oh, yes, he'd certainly make her pay. A rumbling purr began within her throat, "make me scream, baby..." He'd make her pay indeed.
His hands hungrily draped around her sides, his nails digging into her skin, tauntingly running his teeth along her shoulder blade, enticing a light, lust-filled groan from the woman, her head tipping backwards. The movement of his mouth progressed into a series of nips and kisses along the skin of her shoulder, finding enjoyment in the way she writhed slightly beneath him, her curved body squirming lightly. He didn't know what it was in her mind that caused pain to be mistaken for pleasure, he would never know, but he'd take advantage of it to gain his own revenge on her. For her betrayal. It progressed in such a manner for a good few moments, before he arose from the bed and wandered towards the cabinet, his hand shifting to tear open the drawer, ignoring the feeling of her eyes curiously boring into the back of his skull, seemingly awaiting his next move. His hand reached for the knife within the drawer, the one that he usually kept in his belt, turning back to face her with the bayonet in hand, a grin that was mistaken for playful crossing his features. Maybe she thought he was joking, maybe she thought he'd be gentle, maybe she thought he didn't know... Who knew? Either way, she didn't anticipate his movements. Again, his body moved close to her own, savouring the feeling of her warmth. The loosely tied bonds enabled the woman to lay down beneath him, though kept her firmly against the bed post, thus rendering her helpless. He began in the same way as before, progressing finally into a deep, passionate kiss on her full lips, before the forgotten blade was revealed from behind his back, a look of sick satisfaction passing over his features.
It clicked for the woman. Though the hand placed over her mouth prevented her from screaming, her eyes held terror beyond anything he'd witnessed recently. He loved how helpless the woman appeared, how fearful she was, how her bare form writhed beneath his own clothed one in effort to escape his grasp, the weight of his body keeping her more fragile frame pinned to the bed. Tears fell down the woman's pale cheeks, the makeup smearing, only making her appear all the more comical through his eye. The knife was brought hovering above various points of her body, checking for her reaction with each, though a sick idea soon passed into his mind. The bayonet hovered dangerously close to her facials, or more specifically, her pale emerald irises, causing a whole new frantic struggle from her. And, just as he appeared to be letting up, his frame relaxing slightly, the blade plunged into her iris, embedding itself within, bludgeoning the area in a matter of seconds. Sickly crimson ran down her facials, a violent scream rendered inaudible by his awaiting hand cloaking her mouth, pushing her head forcefully down against the bed, preventing her from moving as he carved away. His eye hungrily looked upon her pained facials, savouring every moment, every expression. She wanted pain, now she had it for real. What a shame she didn't find as much pleasure in it as he did.
By the end of his feat, she was rendered unmoving. Her features were shrouded with welters of scarlet wheals thickly cloaking pale facials. His hand tenderly caressed the bludgeoned cheek, sickening grin plastered upon his face. "Shame. Waste of good talent." He snorted lightly to himself, as if the feat was a normal one for humans to go through. That was the best thing about whores; they never had connections. Nobody would miss them. The notion brought a lightened chuckle to the sick bastard, taking a final look upon her bludgeoned facials, before his frame transferred into that of his animalistic counterpart, the bear. He didn't hesitate when it came to making her appear as if it was simply a random attack, his teeth boring into her shoulder, her sides, her limbs, before finally dragging her body down to the basement and leaving it there for... Later disposal, turning out of the dark space without a second thought, ensuring that the door was locked. Slouching himself on the couch, his tongue ran over his fingers, removing the traces of sickly crimson with a satisfied smirk, setting about tidying himself back up, changing his outfit, and what not. All the necessary things to make him appear as one might expect, normal. Because murder was a very casual thing, obviously omf.
It seemed as though he needed to rebandage his eye, for the sickly crimson was beginning to soak through the white material, the fluid beginning to dribble down onto his face. He was going to change it, or at least that was until there had been a knock at the door. His iris traversed to the door within the hallway, surveying the wood inquisitively, doing his best to catch the scent of whoever might have been outside... Was that... Was it her? Rising from the couch with a distinct inquisitive luster to his operational iris, the door swung open and indeed, there stood the griffin shifter. "... Eponine?" he murmured oddly gently, surveying her facials, as if requiring confirmation, "what is it?" Hell, if something was wrong, he'd quite literally stop at nothing to tear out the throat of whatever was causing her discomfort. Yes, should it have been a living being, he meant that quite literally.
When the reason behind her arrival was finally revealed, it drew a partially bemused snort from the man. She came all this way, purely to ask if he was angry at her? Even so, he hesitated before speaking, endeavouring to choose his words carefully, so as not to make her feel worse for the incident she seemed to be referring to. Menelaus actually cared about people's feelings? That's a first. "What use is there for anger, darlin'? It's happened, it's done. No use in regretting it now." He certainly had anger within his heart following the incident, though none of it was directed towards Eponine, not in the slightest. Still, his curiosity was plain to see within his pale blue eye, head slightly tilted, surveying the woman carefully. Shame he failed to notice the trickle of blood moving down his cheek from beneath the bandage. Hm, shame. He probably wouldn't give two shits, even if he were to notice it.
Her rendition of how events may have taken place should she have never entered the woods enticed a shake of the head from the man, in a somewhat dismissive fashion. "Undoubtedly, I would have stumbled upon them at some point or another, for whether or not you were present, I would have been in those woods. You needn't find discomfort in the emotions of others, anyway; feeling for others is just another weakness, unless they are worth your consideration." It was obvious that the woman was uncomfortable, though he simply continued to observe her regardless, awaiting her speech. God, she was beautiful. Wait what? However, her final statement snapped his attention back to her, his inquisitive facials dropping into a frown. "Eponine," he began, reaching a hand up to gently cup her cheek, "there is little use in blaming yourself for something like that. It is the fault of those mutts, and theirs alone. Not yours. I do not blame you, nor will I ever." A grin passed over his facials, his touch gently stroking at her cheek. "Besides, what use is there in ruining such a pretty face for the sake of my own selfish needs?"

to love the monster under your bed
without fear or doubt Whether it was a good or bad trait to see the good in any kind of person would remain a mystery to Eponine, she was an individual who fed off of positivity. When an answer came in return to her knocking upon the door frame, was it so bad that her heart sank a bit in the depths of her chest? Clearly, it was a mere hiccup in her breathing, nothing more. It was very much like the woman to go a hundred and one miles just to apologize for something that was long lost to the past. Well, maybe not exactly lost, but close enough perhaps. Her blue eyes, perfect by the man's own wicked standards, studied his face carefully, however she seem distracted by his surprisingly comforting words. "Well, I do not regret encountering a unique individual such as yourself, that much I can assure you. But, Phillip..you must dress that wound better, it would not be good for you to allow it to become infected.." Only a angelic soul such as Eponine could find it in herself to develop a sense of caring for someone she had barely known. However, she believed that those dealt horribly by society needed someone to show them a form of kindness. Maybe then, and only then, could she offer something to the world in the end. She found herself pausing in her fidgeting motions, the man's next words has caused her gaze to narrow. Was that a moment of defiance? A little ounce of rebellion? "But, if you had been alone out there in the wilderness, with those hellhounds, what if you would have...what..if.." The blond took a deep breath before exhaling, shaking her head gently. "Am I weak then, for I feel for your wellbeing, your existence even? I must be horribly pathetic if that is the case, shackled beyond belief these 'feelings'." She huffed, exhausted by her own efforts at anger. It just wasn't in her blood to act in such a manner, luckily she found herself lifting her gaze as she felt the man's hand upon her cheek. As warm as always...is your heart as warm as this? The woman thought to herself as she gently placed her hand on top of the man's own. Her lips pulled at the corners, revealing a warm smile in response to the man's own. "Okay...you did not seem like the sort to smile. Perhaps you should do that more often, it suits you well." Her voice was a mere murmur as she studied the man's face, before reaching up with her opposite hand and gently wiping the red residue from the man's cheek. "I am grateful that you have not developed a hatred for me after our first encounter. I do not typically try to leave bad first impressions in that manner." She laughed softly before looking quite bothered by something, evident by the way she was fidgeting, akin to her avian counterpart. Eponine's gaze fell to her own two feet before she shrugged her shoulders, stepping closer to the man, closing the already small gap between the two individuals. With shaky hands, and a trembling lip she gently attempted to rest her head on the taller man's chest. Why? Even she didn't know. She just felt the need to find comfort somewhere, and one such as Eponine could only comfort her own mind for so long. "I am a stranger to you, yes, but I am content that you still exist." She spoke softly, her voice hardly even audible. She was allowing herself to be vulnerable to this strange man, this Phillip. It was entirely on the man's part if he decided to break the ever so fragile moment with a violent. For, like a bird, Eponine would escape and slip right through the man's fingers, lost without a trace.

what if tomorrow is too What greater thing was there than for two human souls than to feel they are joined for life, to strengthen each other in all labour, to rest each other in all sorrow, to minister each other in all pain, to be with one another in silent unspeakable memories at the moment of the last parting? Had he ever been in love? Sure, once or twice; it was a disgusting, futile emotion. It could so easily open up the chest and heart of one being, making them vulnerable, allowing another to enter with a trail of destruction. Through these built up defences, the whole suit of armour, purely constructed so that nothing could enter to harm, then one idiotic human being wandered right in, somehow. One would offer up a part of themselves purely for the illusion of being under the influence of the human emotion, this love of theirs. Love took hostages, got inside the minds and hearts of its victims, so that every silence was a glass splinter working it's way into their chests. It hurts, not just in the imagination, but a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart kind of pain. He hated it, he hated the weakness, the vulnerability. Perhaps he had just been far too blinded by the lies of the world, too acutely aware of every false truth told by society, to acknowledge such emotions. So why, against all odds, all the stakes, was she always lingering in his mind? Her smile, her eyes, her voice, her laugh, her warmth, her existence... Her. In a sea full of people, why was his gaze to search for her alone? Why?
His singular pale blue irises studied her in an oddly gentle fashion, wielding patience more than he was willing to give to anyone else, despite her reactions to her own speech. However, as she mentioned his apparent uniqueness, he briefly interjected with a bemused snort, "that's a word for it." However, as she came to mention his wound, his facials dropped back into a neutral solemnness. People had scars in all sorts of unexpected places, like secret roadmaps of their personal histories, diagrams of their old wounds. Most wounds heal, leaving behind nothing more than scarred tissue. But some cut deeper than merely flesh, some are carried with a being for years on end, and though the blood was gone, the pain would linger. Truth be told, it hurt like utter hell, it had always hurt like hell, though he'd never admit that. Not verbally, anyway, for that would be considered weakness, and he wielded no room for weakness. Not anymore. "I'll be fine, Eponine. You needn't worry about it. There is little use in doing so."
Her initial words drew a light huff from the man, perhaps in a frustrated manner, him responding in a hushed mumble, "Again, you needn't trouble yourself these things. I've witnessed 'what if' questions becoming the downfall of mankind plentiful times. I would have been fine." In spite of never having intended to anger her with his words, the faint trace of spitfire that was emitted from the woman, well, it was half amusing. Though his facials were kept painfully straight as he looked upon the apparently angered individual, even he had to admit that the attempt was cute, especially in the way her efforts seemed to exhaust her by the time it was over. Still, it half surprised him that she was to react in such a manner, for his intents did not lie around such a notion. Large shoulder blades rolled in a shrug, blinking slowly towards the woman, "I didn't dub you pathetic. I merely meant that... You should spare your emotions for those who truly deserve your consideration, as a pose to giving them out so freely. The world does not take kindly to compassion. Though, I suppose it is up to you if you have dubbed me worthy of your thoughts. I cannot make that choice for you." He seemed to be reasoning with himself by the end of his speak, his voice gaining a slightly thoughtful hint, though his pale irises remained settled upon the woman's facials with evident curiosity, leaning against the doorframe as he looked upon the griffin shifter.
Gently setting a hand upon the delicate flesh of her facials and giving her cheek a gentle stroke with his thumb, his hand settled against her face as her own rested upon it, the warm smile provided towards him, causing his own grin to widen slightly. His irises glinted in faint confusion as she leant over to gently wipe the sickly crimson from his skin, though he promptly find himself smiling once again. His hand gently traced along her cheekbone, falling to her lower jaw, before dropping back to his own side, his eye oddly bright. Her comment drew a light chuckle from the man, "Well, it's not exactly a common occurrence to witness." However, as her fidgeting continued, if not amplified, his facials dropped into a frown. He studied her for only a second, gaze softening slightly. Had he said something wrong? Had he done something? He hesitated briefly, before quietly mumbling, "You know you can tell me if something is bothering you, Eponine, right?"
However, it seemed as though his question would not require a verbal answer, for her following actions enlightened him, though also brought confusion surging to mind. His pale eye widened slightly upon her pace forward, tensing his frame as the feminine's skull came to gently rest upon his chest. Brow furrowing as he looked down upon the top of her head, he began to chew on the inside of his mouth once again, though his frame relaxed slightly, trying to figure exactly what the gesture meant, or more importantly, what exactly he was supposed to do in response. After a few seconds of quietened contemplation, his arm sought to furl itself round her hip, and the other round her upper back, gently stroking his hand through the woman's blonde hair. He found himself lost for words for a good few moments, honestly not being able to piece together exactly what to say in such a situation, for he had not been in one as such for many months He hadn't felt such intense emotions searing within his chest for countless years. Her comment, despite his thoughts, causing the faint trace of a smile, a genuine smile, to reappear, tugging at the corners of his lips. "As I am you, darlin'. I don't know what I'd do without you." For the first time in a long time, his ribcage shuddered briefly upon inhaling. "The world may disapprove, it can do so all it wants. My world is only you." And with that, he placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.

to love the monster under your bed
She found comfort in the man's embrace, although it brought much confusion to her as she felt her heart flutter restlessly against her chest. Although his stern expressions suggest otherwise, the man seemed to be one of immense intelligence, perhaps it was one of the reasons Eponine had winded up caught in his web, rather willingly. The woman's small frame tensed at the touch of the man's hand upon her hip and back before relaxing her muscles and leaning into the man's unexpected embrace. This odd gesture was somehow comforting, although in all truth she had never hugged any creature before. Perhaps it was human side embracing the mysteries of emotions. Feeling the man's lips brush against the top of her head she found herself raising her head so that she can view the man's face after he finished his words. "Do you really mean that, Phillip? I have never heard anyone speak to me in such a manner, except for my mother of course. No one else has paid my existence any attention." She murmured quietly as she studied the man's facials before raising her hands and taking her face between each of her hands. "The Creator has crafted a glorious monster within you. And I do not hate you for it." She spoke softly, although she had no idea how much the monster statement couldn't have been more true. Her lip twitched slightly before she dropped her hands and gently wrapped her arms around the man's lower back loosely. "But..Phil you are more hoomin than I could ever be. You do realize that I am not a hoomin by nature? I am a Griffin by blood... My existence is a lie..and it saddens me. Where do I belong in a hoomin world, Phil? Am I just a ugly tumor on the globe?" She whispered, her eyes glistening slightly with what appeared to be the beginnings of tears. Eponine's kind were few and far in between, the only ones she had never known were her own brother and mother, with a quiet memory of her father. For all she knew they could have been the last of their kind, she'd never know. Fabled creatures weren't even supposed to exist in this time and age, yet here they were. With a sharp intake of breath, she withdrew one of her hands to rub her teary eyes. "My apologies, I don't mean to..nevermind." She commented, her voice soft as she released her gentle grip on the man's torso. The woman looked as though she was going to say more, but she hesitated her expression changing to one of complete alertness. "What is that?" She questioned as she took a step back, her sharp blue eyes glancing around the home. "I smell blood in the air." She spoke cautiously, the metallic sense was thick in the air, how had she not noticed it earlier? She had noticed the blood on the man's face earlier, but this scent was different. She stood stock still, not quite sure where the scent originated. Her gaze shifted briefly to Phillip's hands, finding that a very faint scent lingered there in likeness of the one that coated the stale air of the home. "Something is tained within the boundaries of your home. It is hoomin...what have you done Phillip?" She spoke with caution and a twinge of fear in her voice as she observed the man closely. what if tomorrow is too Adjusting his footing subtly, the singular, operational iris fleeted across the top of her hand, gently running his hand through the blonde locks, his fingertips playing with the individual strands, simply savouring the feeling of her own warmth. Her presence, it was willing, it was different. It wasn't so much the things he felt for her as a pose to what he didn't feel for anything but her. Whatever it might have been, he knew it was far from within his control, and that was both a notion he despised and embraced, all within one complex motion. However, it was simply human nature to fall in love with those they could never have. Not truly.
Pressing his lips briefly against the delicate flesh of her forehead, his pale irises met her own blue orbs upon her head tilting upwards, tipping his head slightly to one side. "I fail to see the use in lying about such things. There's a reason that people like you and I find each other. Perhaps it's this God mankind seem to be obsessed with, perhaps it's fate, but somehow, I can't believe that it is an accident that I found you." He snorted lightly in amusement, a brief smirk situating itself upon his facials, "or you found me, that is." Momentarily lost to the thought of their initial meeting, he began to chew on the inside of his mouth, as he often did, however, his attention returned to her upon the feeling of her hands upon his face, finding himself leaning slightly into her touch. "... Where can one run to escape themselves, Eponine?" His brow briefly furrowed within such a thought; there were many types of monster in this world. The types who caused trouble without revealing themselves, the types that abducted children, the types that devoured the dreams of others. Then, there were the monsters who told nothing but lies. Those that lied caused the most nuisance; they are much more cunning than the others. They pose as humans, though have no understanding of the human heart, they eat even though they have never experienced hunger, they study though they have no interest in knowledge, they seek companionship even though they don't know how to love. He was that monster. Would he truly be able to trust himself around her? Could he trust himself to touch her, to look upon her, to keep her safe?
Releasing a gentle exhale, his gaze traced her facials, allowing her hands to slide round his back with little resistance. During such a moment, however, he noticed the change in her demeanour several seconds before she opened her mouth, drawing another frown from him. Upon being spoken of as a human, his teeth gritted in a trace of annoyance, though didn't chase the subject, caught up in the words that were to come. "You are not to compare yourself to man, Eponine, for you possess so much more than humans ever could. Like them, you're imperfect, you're wired for struggle. However, you deserve, unlike them, to be happier than you are, and to be loved the right way, for the right reasons... The difference is, you are worthy of love, and of belonging. You above all others." He knifed a inaudible breath upon sighting the wetness welling within her vibrant eyes, blinking slowly in a silenced acknowledgement. Did the views of the world really bother her that much? Why did she allow such things to plague her to this point? As if instinctively, his grip tightened around her waist, which was about as far as he knew how to console another living being without the usage of words. "Shh... There's nothing worth apologising for, darlin'." he mumbled gently as she made some strange attempt to apologise for god knows what, his operation iris studying her for a moment. Though, he felt her warmth slipping away from him, and thus released his grip, huffing in something similar to disappointment.
Upon her change of expression, his own shifted into a curious one, his gaze primed upon her with an inquisitive luster; as she noted the faint metallic scent shrouding the air, he himself having failed to acknowledge it as a result of the interactions with the woman, he blinked slowly. "Hm, so there is." It took him a few seconds to fully piece together the source of the scent, however, the notion confirmed as her gaze travelled downwards, towards his hands. His frame tensed lightly, chewing on the inside of his mouth. "I... Did what needed to be done..."

to love the monster under your bed
The man's words of knowledge and understanding garnered respect from the woman, and a sense of foreign admiration. It was nothing that could be labeled as affection, for she only knew the love of her own mother and brother. Anything beyond that was shrouded in mist and dust in the deepest recedes of her mind. She took his words into consideration, her eyes gaining a look of curiosity. "One may only escape themselves by taking refuge in another. Like I have done with you, Phillip." Her voice had returned to the tone of a whisper as she looked up at the taller man. A small laugh came from the woman's vocals at his next preach, "Of course you could have not been any more right.. But as long as I take on this form, I am considered as one in the same with the hoomin race. They are so judgemental of one another, Phillip. And I must admit that I will never understand as to why. Men are afraid of things they do not understand, if they knew of the secrets we hide so well, they'd hunt us to extinction out of fear that they will be dethroned by beings more superior than they." So young, yet so knowledgeable. Perhaps it was something that came along with being such an odd creature. The serene meeting would soon prove to be extremely fragile for the pieces were falling ever so slowly as even darker secrets unraveled themselves. Eponine bit her lower lip, fear settling into her rapidly beating heart. She was not stupid, she could identify the connection between the scent on the man's hands and the faintly present life from somewhere else within the house. But she did not flee. Her blue eyes blinked as she thought to herself in silence. She recalled her first encounter with Phillip, the way he had been washing the blade in the creek. She had simply thought he had been hunting, which may have been true. But hunting what? It was obviously something more complex than an ignorant raccoon, perhaps this is what had alarmed the sparrow so much. And she had ignored it's warnings. For a long moment Eponine did not speak, her gaze had fallen to the floor. "Will you do the same to me, Phillip? Will you hunt me down?" She questioned as she reluctantly raised her gaze once more. "I have done nothing but be truthful to you, Phillip. Never once did it cross my mind to bring you harm. I have bestowed my trust upon you, and to make matters all the more agonizing, the thought of you has crossed my mind since our first encounter." There wasn't anger in her voice, it sounded more like a pained form of sorrow. Eponine did not have any friends or acquaintances even though she was as friendly as can be. Phillip had been the first person that she had held a intelligent conversation with and to know that this man may not be the one whom she had taken a liking to? She felt betrayed. The feeling of betrayal was worse than any knife placed into a wound. "Were you planning to hunt me down too, Phillip? If so...why not just end my life now? It would seem my life means nothing to the likes of you anyway. Should I be ashamed that in such a short amount of time, I have developed...ah..it does not matter." It would appear that the matter meant more than she was letting on for a steady stream of tears rolled down her cheeks, but she did not sob. The blond woman looked at the man with not defiance, but melancholy. "I trusted you, and on the night when the wolves appeared? I wanted to protect you, I did not want your life to be taken. I was willing to risk my own to protect yours, but then you were injured...is that why you hate me Phillip? Revenge? Were my apologies not enough?" She spoke as she stepped forward, beating her balled up fists against the man's chest, although they were surprisingly gentle. Eponine continued to beat against the man's chest, "Well, what are you waiting for, Phillip? Drive a stake through my heart and put me out of my pathetic misery. Just know that no matter how monster you were, have or will become, my feelings will never change. I can never hate you. Nor will I ever..." She cried, withdrawing her onslaught of beatings against the man's chest. I put my trust in you..My heart trusted you..Am I nothing but a pawn in your wicked game of chess..?TAG: @menelaushenson WORDS: 826 NOTES: (cry)

what if tomorrow is too The basic truth within the human condition was simply that everybody lied; the variable was purely starring the subject. Love was one of the many lives so intricately weaved into the thread of day to day life, a cautionary, momentary, reactionary lie, a word used far too much and far too soon. Perhaps the thing that caused so many to fall under the illusion of love was simply that is was so easy to believe someone when they were telling you precisely what you wanted to hear. It twisted the brains of mankind to a point in which they believed down was up and right was wrong. Girls fell in love with what they heard, boys fell in love with what they saw; maybe that was why girls wore makeup to cloak their true expression and boys lied to cloak their true tongue.
His expectations lay purely around the notion of the blonde doing something other than simply standing there, though in the long moment of silence that ensued, it promptly became obvious that the feminine was to make no motion. He anticipated her to turn away, to say something, and bring an end to their meeting, to bring their odd relationship to an end somehow, though she merely stood there, in the doorframe, her gaze cast downwards. He momentarily debated the thought of reaching out in some manner, though it seemed she would be the one to break the looming silence beforehand. His frame shifted uncomfortably, readjusting his posture, allowing her gaze to return to his own individually as a pose to forcing it upwards, as he might have done, should it have been anyone other than her. The dejection shrouding her hushed vocals plagued his mind, brow furrowing as he looked upon the fragile woman, the despondent air weighing heavily upon his chest. Though, he didn't choose to speak, not just yet, merely listening, acutely aware of every word that slipped from her tongue, each driving a stake further into his otherwise cold heart. Did she fail to even think of whether or not his actions were justified? Did she even consider the possibility that he had reasoning, a motive? His voice was, well, remarkably calm, despite the situation at hand. "If I had wished to hunt you, to harm you in such ways, wouldn't you imagine that you would have already come to some form of injury? What use would their possibly be for dragging you on for this long if I had no other use for you than slaughter?" The thought of her being injured bothered him more than he let on, though he did begin to chew on the inside of his jaw, as he had done many times before.
It was upon her mentioning of the fact that her life seemed to mean nothing that his facials gave way to a much more disbelieving look, and words finally slipped from their mouth. "You honestly believe that you mean absolutely nothing to me, that your life has no worth in my mind?" Gritting his teeth as he processed the notion within his mind, he voice gained a sharper edge, gaze narrowing slightly, "after all the shit that we've endured, and after my inflictions, I have held no malice against you, nor have I portrayed aggression towards you. And yet, you still believe that you have no worth to me?" The nebulae of vibrant stars gave way to a flood, tears slowly beginning to streak from her irises, though his own pale orb did not soften, a faint scowl twitching at the corners of his lips. "I had trusted that you were intelligent enough to see it." But, hell no, he wasn't going to apologise for his actions, he wasn't going to beg for forgiveness at her feet. He never did.
The mentioning of the wolves enticed an instinctive tensing of his frame, though he clung to her words regardless, paying close attention to each sound that left her lips, his patience slowly beginning to crumble alongside her composure. "What signs have I given for hatred of you? Now you seem to view me as a monster simply because I tried to protect you. Do you believe I despise you because I care? Is that it? What do you want from me, Eponine? Do you expect me to let the world crush you because you believe I don't give a shit?" His words were accented by a faint, animalistic growl, failing to understand her views. However, as her fists pounded lightly against his chest, his faint snarl trailed away, staring inquisitively down at the hands beating against him. They were too gentle to cause pain, certainly, though the idea that they were supposed to brought so much more than his stern expression showed. "All this time, I could have expressed aggression towards you, I could have harmed you, injured you, left you bleeding in those woods if I wanted to. Sometimes I begin to wonder why I didn't." He snorted lightly at the notion, his gaze held narrow, grinding his teeth together in frustration. "But, sometimes I wonder why the fuck I feel at all, too. These... Feeble human emotions, they are needless... They are a weakness. My feelings for you are a vulnerability, that the world will take advantage of so easily." A vulnerability that I cannot possibly be without. That I never want to have to live without. Despite his vocals being sharp, violent even, his iris faltered with disbelief, perhaps only at himself for sprouting such nonsense. If my heart stopped, would you miss me the way I would you...? "... People do what they have to when they fall in love, Eponine."
And, in a few short seconds, his gaze softened and fell to the terrain with a huff, perhaps even a saddened one. He quietly considered her words for a few moments, gaze searching the concrete. "Then go," his vocals were unexpectedly quiet, no more than a hushed mutter, gaze refusing to return to her own, "go, if you believe me nothing more than a monster. I won't make you stay." You're never going to love me... So what's the use?
"What are you waiting for? I might turn on you." He growled lightly, trying to withhold any form of emotion within his voice, not allowing her to see what was truly going on inside his head, inside his chest. He didn't want her to leave, not in the slightest... Did he trust himself with her? Could he keep we safe when he himself was the beast she should fear? Could she ever find it within herself to love a monster? Everything I did was for you... Can you still love me like you did yesterday?

to love the monster under your bed
He was angry with her, but then again perhaps he was right. Maybe she should have been left in the woods, it would have saved someone the trouble of dealing with her if she had been torn to shreds by the mouths of ravenous canids. "I do not request anything from you, Phillip. I have no right to ask anything of you." She spoke quietly, not even giving care to her damp facials. She gave a short inhale before speaking again, "The concept of feelings..it is the proof we need that lets us know that we are still alive. It is what defines us from the next person. Sets us apart from the most insignificant pest." Eponine looked as though she was ready to say something else, but at the man's statement she forced herself to pause. "Fall in love?" She echoed his words, the phrase drawing a blank. "Perhaps I am not very intelligent at all." She sighed, maybe she was the idiotic one. A huff came from the woman when Phillip stated that she could leave. Did he not understand her? "We're all monsters in our own right, Phillip. Don't you see? I don't want to leave...I want to stay here with you. If you were in my shoes, wouldn't you worry about harm being brought you as well with the scent of blood in the air?" She didn't want to leave, and that was why she was hurt so, why the tears ran down her face. Eponine reached out with a trembling hand in an attempt to grab the man's hand. "You're a beautiful monster, Phillip. And I like you all the same.. I just..I don't want to be forced out..I don't want you to hurt me because I don't want to leave. I can't explain my words, I just know that this is what I want to say." Was it so bad? She honestly wouldn't know, nor did she want to know. She didn't want to ruin whatever this was, this very special, particular blossoming friendship. "But, if you wish for me to leave, I shall and I will take care to never intertwine paths with your own ever again." She spoke softly as she released her gentle grip on the man's hand. She took a few steps back so that she was standing just outside the doorway. The world would continue to go round regardless of what decision was made between the two odd, unique individuals. "If I did not care for you, Phillip, I would not have bothered to hold conversation with you on the first day we encountered each other." Her pained blue eyes searched the man's face for any kind of emotion, but he appeared to look as stern and blank faced as the first day she had encountered him. "Why..why do I want to stay so badly, Phillip? Why does the thought of leaving cause me so much pain?" She asked, her voice taking on a desperate tone as she did not understand the reasoning in how she felt right at that moment. Perhaps fate was simply cruel and loved playing sick mind games. what if tomorrow is too Perhaps his anger was unnecessary, unfounded, inconsistent; his anger was never without reason, though seldom a good one. Holding on to such anger was akin to gripping a burning coal with the intent of hurling it at another being, for you were the one who wielded the burn. Anger was poison, with the necessity of being purged at the source, the mind, else it would corrupt one's better nature. However, did he honestly have a better nature aside from his perpetual façade? Hell, through his eyes, he didn't become unnecessarily angry, people just needed to stop pissing him off. His fairly short temper within certain scenarios had yet to make a fool of him, surprisingly. A quietened grunt left the man in acknowledgement of her initial volley of hushed vocals, though upon her mention of his false identity, his gaze faltered to the terrain below. "It's... Not Philip," releasing a faintly shuddered exhale, his pale iris lifted once again, "It's Menelaus. But... Try to understand that a name like mine is... Distinct. Far too much so. A more simplistic one is less questionable." She had every right to be just as angry with him, if not more so, though she only seemed sorrowful. It was odd, perhaps even questionable, though he chose not to vocalize his thoughts.
Snorting lightly in distaste upon her explanation of feelings, the man shook his head, perhaps in disapproval, though said nothing for the time being. That was, at least, until she copied his words, seemingly unknowing of their meaning. In that moment, his stern expression dropped into a disbelieving one, brow furrowing, studying her, as if to confirm that she was being truthful. And, in realization that she was, he released a disgruntled groan of annoyance, running his hand down his face briefly, "please tell me you're familiar with the concept?" Apparently not. Hell, wasn't a mother supposed to tell a child of this sort of thing? Father, even? And, evidently, he was neither to the blonde woman; wouldn't stop him from attempting to explain the horrid emotion, though. "It's a-... Well-..." Did he even know what the fuck love was? He hesitated, his iris falling to the terrain below, struggling to piece together words in a context that she might understand. "It's a disgusting, futile human emotion. It enables one idiotic being to break through all the built up walls designed specifically to keep people out. It allows another to get inside your mind and heart so easily; it makes you horribly vulnerable to whatever they might intend. They have the option to tear your heart right out of your chest and crush it before your eyes if they so desire. And more often than not, people do just that. As if they can't resist it." Gritting his teeth together, he hesitated briefly, still trying to register something in his mind that might make sense.
"People lust for it, dream of it, fantasize about it, despite the fact it causes so much pain. People don't want to be alone; murder doesn't hold a candle to it, and hell is only a poor synonym. When you fall in love, your life is no longer your own. You begin to depend on them more than you would any other, as if instinctive. And they will break you, but somehow, your heart convinces you that it's worth it. It lies. And when that person you've convinced yourself that you love is gone, well, you'll miss them a little too much, a little too often, a little more each day. You'll try to keep yourself busy, but every moment you pause, you'll still think of them, regardless of what you were doing prior. And you'll hope and pray that they're missing you as much as you miss them. You'll miss someone who isn't yours to miss, and dream about someone who isn't yours to dream of." How she'd possibly make sense of his words even he didn't know, though it wouldn't stop him. Gritting his teeth together, he fought back the emotions welling within his chest, still refusing to allow them to show. "When you've It will break you. That's just what love does. But it's still something that the heart requires, yearns for, no matter how much it tears you apart. No matter how much your head protests, your heart will love, even if you don't realize it. Always." His iris turned back upwards, placing specific emphasis on that final word, finally feeling his strange speech complete. Another shuddered exhale left the man, grimacing lightly in disapproval at the thought of it. Hopefully she'd make some sense out of everything he'd said.
The scowl seemingly settled upon his facials after his comment regarding the fact that she could leave faltered slightly at her words, gaze reluctantly twisting back upwards. No, if he was in her shoes, he would not fear. He never did, or at least he liked to think so. He studied her glassy irises again, his hatred growing for the sight of her tears, if only due to the fact that it was no pained woman other than Eponine behind those watery eyes. It was his fault she was upset, and he yearned to be able to be of comfort, though his stubborn pride prevented him from doing so. Though, upon feeling her delicate skin within his hand, his eye widened slightly, flinching, though he didn't pull it away, merely studying her, taking in everything she had to stay. "There's no such thing as a beautiful monster," he mumbled, near inaudibly, "but you know I'd never harm you. Whatever you may do to me, I would never even think of it." However, as the woman spoke of departing as he so desired, and her delicate hand slipped away from his own, he instinctively took a stride forward as she moved back, his usually emotionless expression shifting briefly into a desperate one, pale eye somewhat wide. "No-..." His expression, in that brief second, shifted back to his usually stern one. "Don't leave..." Hell, that was as close to begging as he had gotten for a long time, nor did he intend on overstepping that. "There are... Many things you have yet to know about me, but I certainly hope you know how much you mean to me."
His taller frame moved to close the distance between the two beings once again, even as she sought to question him on her own motives. His pale iris searched her glassy eyes, reaching a hand up to wipe away at the wetness from her delicate face. "Eponine, darlin'," he began, releasing a gentle huff, "I believe that I can offer a diagnosis..." His gaze searched her own. "You're in love."

to love the monster under your bed
Her gaze flickered up in surprise at the revealing of the man's real name, and in her honest opinion it was something that sounded better than the likes of Phillip. For who wanted to share the same name as one's neighbor? "And my name isn't?" She countered, although there was no anger in her voice. Her mother had bestowed one of a kind names upon all of her children, for each was to their own and there would never be another.
The concept of love was only understood in the simplest forms, such as the love shared from one family member to another. "I know only the love of my mother." She didn't even mention her father as she couldn't even put a face to any name. Although before she could ask what the man actually meant, she found herself being bombarded with a plague of words so she remained quiet, lingering on each word that passed through the man's lips.
She found herself stepping back at the harshness of the man's words, surely this love wasn't this horrible? But Menelaus went into such detail with his distasteful definition that it was hard to think of love in any other way. "So, love is an instinct that weakens the mind? If it so destructive, why does one's heart yearn for it? Why does it still exist? Has the mind not had enough time to adapt around such needs?" She frowned, believing that this love was some sick brother to hatred. And she would have Menelaus to thank for the meaning of love.
At his next comment of a beautiful monster being nonexistent, the blond nearly snorted in disbelief. "Have you seen what lies underneath this mask that I wear, Menelaus? There is no beauty in a rehash of a feline and an avian. The Creator was cruel to those like me, perhaps He felt the need to give us some form of comfort by allowing us to put on the masks of man." She rolled her shoulders in a shrug, thinking lowly of herself.
Her gaze shifted to the ground once more, she would never hurt another intentionally unless she was unfortunate enough to be cornered with no hope of escape. She wasn't a violent creature, which probably led to her becoming a magnet for trouble at times. She looked about ready to leave before the man piped up again, his tone having changed. "How could I have brought such meaning to you in such a short span of time? I know as little about you as you do me. Alas, I am no one special." Eponine lifted her head as she felt the slight warmth of the close proximity of another, Menelaus having closed the distance between them in order to wipe away her shedded tears.
The man's next words took the woman by sheer surprise which caused a frown to slowly become etched upon her face. "I am in love? Surely I cannot, I hardly even know the feeling...and as you described it is a horrible thing to feel..almost as bad as hating another.." She whispered quietly as she gently covered the man's hand with her own. "How does one stop this, Menelaus? Is there a cure for this? A remedy?" Thanks to Menelaus' rather colorful definition of the term, Eponine was led to believe that 'love' was almost something like the black plague, only worse in that it attacked the heart and mind, blinding one to obvious truths.

what if tomorrow is too A lightened snort was released upon the feminine remarking about the unique nature of her own name, shooting her a brief hard look, "Eponine, our situations are very much different, you know that. You have nothing drastic to hide beneath false truths, or at least, not to my understanding. Sometimes, lies are necessary, in order to protect those around you." His iris flitted across her facials momentarily, releasing a disgruntled huff that told of no particular emotion, perhaps simply in contemplation of the events at hand, and their peculiarity. It wasn't every day someone told of love, justified murder, and acknowledged forgiveness all in one sitting. Shaking his head in dismissal of the thought, his attention snapped back to the feminine, and each word that left her lips.
He frowned lightly upon the mentioned notion of family-wise affection, shaking his head once again, "again, it's a different feat, entirely." And with that, he took off into his volley of harsh words regarding the topic of the strange emotion. He ignored her motion of shuffling back, his gaze fixated upon the terrain below their feet, searching the ground as if it was more interesting than the world around them, so populated by this notion of love. Why would hearts continue to yearn for the emotion, despite the fact that so much pain originated within it? And yet, somehow, the more he tried to get it out of his mind, out of his chest, it simply implanted itself, striking deeper. Her questioning only irritated him further; how was he supposed to speak for an emotion that shrouded the hearts and minds of so many differentiating beings? "Questioning it is like questioning why the stars are fire, why the moon moves, and how we came to be upon this earth. It's just another part of this miserable lifestyle that has to be endured."
His intent, no doubt, had been far from directing the point back to the feminine, though the subject carried to her form easily following his speech. His pale iris blinked slowly in response, slowly registering words within his mind in effort to be of some comfort, at least. "You are nothing of a monster, Eponine. But if you are determined to dub yourself one, then perhaps a beautiful monster could exist, as chaos and beauty intertwined." His pale gaze searched her delicate facials, huffing lightly, providing a faint trace of what appeared to be a sympathetic smile. Hell, Menelaus was capable of sympathy? Apparently, if only for her. Shadowing her footsteps and closing the distance, he frowned lightly upon hearing her words, "time heals what reason cannot, even in short quantity. It has a wonderful way of revealing what really matters to oneself in mere moments." His thumb gently swept across her delicate facials, removing the traces of wetness previously wept.
Though it was evident that his words had taken her by surprise, he ignored her shock, focused merely on the words that followed. She requested some sort of cure, some sort of restorative, a prophylactic to the emotion at hand, to which brought a slight smirk swinging the corner's of his lips upwards in faint amusement. Somehow, despite his doubts, the feminine had convinced him to have faith in the emotion, if only for the moment. Though, how was he supposed to forget the risk and take the fall, knowing that only pain emerged from the notion of love? Sometimes, you just have to do the wrong thing, he mentally reminded himself, and before he knew what the hell he was doing, he'd already pressed his lips to her own. OH SNAP SON. What a shame it was that he failed to note the feeling of eyes boring into the back of his skull with a disturbingly intense curiosity.
From beyond the tall man, the form of the agile young feminine had slipped into view upon the rooftop, balanced upon all fours near the edge, watching the two with a distinctly questioning, yet bemused, look. Pale emerald irises had been surveying the pair for quite some time now, though she only chose to make her presence known at that point in time. "So," she began, moving into a sitting position, her limbs dangling from the edge of the roof, "is this that pretty little girlfriend of yours?" From her position, she slunk down onto the porch's roof, before making a final leap to reach the terrain, her extreme agility certainly having come in handy. "Sorry to interrupt," she smirked, regaining her composure, she tipped her head on one side, wrinkling her nose slightly in distaste. No, not at the feminine's appearance, but instead the scent that radiated from her. "Smells like a bird to me," she remarked, though was soon distracted by the sight of Teuiec trailing after her from the household, prompting the teenager to roll her eyes. Bond or no bond, the strange feline hybrid had always been far too sensible, mellow, for her tastes. "I'm fairly sure I informed you previously that your behaviour is inadequate for newcomers. This woman, stranger or not, is a guest on the premises, and I would request you treat her as such," the feline, equipped with a large, gem-embroided necklace of which the pair had managed to snatch from some snobby woman upon the streets, wandered over to the stranger, gently nudging her snout against the woman's leg in friendly greeting, acknowledging the fact that if she were to speak, those of differentiating species would not hear.
The man's partial pale gaze set upon the approaching teenager with a disgruntled groan of annoyance, especially at the sight of the cat. He never liked cats. "Didn't I tell you to stop with the roof-climbing business?" He received nothing more of a roll of the eyes, and a light scoff from the feline below them. Yes, the pair were doing nothing to quench his hatred of felines.

to love the monster under your bed
There were many things regarding human life that Eponine still had yet to understand, despite her rather complex knowledge and understanding. It felt good to be able to converse with someone such as Menelaus as he had not been cursed with an ignorance that would lead him astray. Unfortunately, the blond woman had to be left in the dark on some matters, but that was what made her pure of heart, untouched by man's corrupted darkness.
Her heartbeat slowed beneath her chest at the man's words that comforted her anxieties, more so when she felt the touch of his thumb upon her facials. Why did a simple touch cause her heart to flutter so? Was it because of this love that that the man preached? "Menelaus..." She whispered quietly, the smallest ounce of fear gathering in her dampened gaze. Her mind was working, thinking, trying to decipher what was going on in the man's mind during the silence between the pair. Yet she came out empty handed.
A quiet gasp of surprise came from Eponine as she felt the soft touch of the man's lips on her own. She was not quite sure what to feel, could this be described as the purest form of ecstasy? Instinctively, she leaned into the kiss, rejoicing in this foreign feeling as though it was a fresh taste of water after traversing the desert for many nights. Unfortunately, much to her unmasked disappointment the moment was cut abruptly short as she heard a voice from above.
Eponine appeared to shy away from the man feeling quite awkward, yet she savored the foreign sensation that still lingered n her lips. "A girlfriend?" The woman repeated as she set her bright blue eyes on the roof. Her gaze watched as the strange individual, a girl?, leaped from the roof with surprising ease. At the girl's next comment, Eponine looked as though she had been offended. "I do not wish to be labeled as a bird. Surely I do not take on an avian odor?" Her lips turned into a deep frown, disturbed by the strange girl.
Perhaps she was a friend of Menelaus', whatever the case Eponine couldn't picture herself treating another rudely. It took a moment before the woman realized that there was a talking feline in the vicinity. Then again, she had to remember that she could understand the gnarled language of both felines and avians. "Acquaintances of yours, Menelaus?" She inquired of the man curiously, although the female looked quite young, her feline companion being quite witty. Both seemed like things that would clash with the disposition of someone like Menelaus, but what did she know? TAG: @menelaushenson WORDS: 476 NOTES: ew short

Dark clouds begin to move into the night sky. During the lengthy conversation between the trio, rain droplets slowly began to fall before shifting into a downpour.
It is now raining heavily.

what if tomorrow is too Despite the light shrouding of fear enveloping the woman's own eyes, his singular pale iris bored into her on gaze, studying the perfection of the blue hues, the subtle trace of a smile twinging the corners of his mouth upwards. Her eyes were like clocks, halting their spinning every time he looked into them; the universe halted, all things began to breathe each other's stillness. A simple blue eternity. The beauty of a woman, through his opinion at least, had always been through the eyes, for they were the gateway to the soul and the doorway to the heart, the place in which the proclaimed horrific love was held. His only desire had been to crush all traces of the foreign emotion; now? He didn't truly know what he wanted. He merely continued to stare into those eyes as if they were his only lifeline, only blinking a hushed acknowledgement to her whisper of his name.
Despite the fact that his skin was set alight by the notion, he didn't cease it, for it was akin to that of saltwater; you drink, and yet are left even more thirsty than you were prior. The best kisses were the consequential ones, the risky ones, the transformative ones, the ones that call nymphs and satyrs back to life, the many-layered kisses that were dived into as a fairy-tale frog pond, or the murky gene pool of origins. He didn't want to be told where the road would end for them, he just didn't want to know. She could tell him all her thoughts, she could tell him about the stars that filled the polluted skies, she could tell him where she ran too when nobody was left beside her, he just didn't want to know when it would end. When they would end. The hand that had been previously caressing her cheek remained upon her facials, the other gently sliding round her waist, gently pulling her frame against his own, however, he quickly relinquished his grasp on her as the teenager made herself known. In fact, he barely noticed the feminine's awkward shuffle away from him, too caught up in studying the teenager that soon made her approach. A faint anger boiled within his chest, though it didn't show upon his facials aside from a subtle glare and a faint huff.
The teen tipped her head to one side upon the apparently philosophical responding to her speech, her arms folding, casting the man a brief bemused glance, earning an equally amusing death glare from him. She often preferring to aggravate him above all others, for she had long since surpassed the apparent danger of enraging him. He had to live with her whether he liked it or not, and she was certainly one to take advantage of that. "That's what I said, reek of it." she confirmed upon the woman's question, for indeed, she could detect the faint scent of bird; rather unlike normal humans, her time upon the streets had forced her to become more acutely aware of her senses, alongside the teachings of the feline tutor of sorts that followed her about the place, her daemon. Ah, she'd never been keen on birds. They screamed at the top of their lungs in a hellish rage every morning at daybreak to warn us of the truth. They knew the truth. Screaming bloody murder all over the world, right into our ears. As it were, she couldn't speak bird, hence cared little for their prophecies. They could go die in a ditch for all she cared. Wouldn't make a difference to her.
However, her thoughts were interrupted as a fine bead of rain rolled down the back of her neck, prompting a visible shudder from the feminine, her gaze fleeting from the griffin and bear shifters to the skies above. Quickly met with a good number of droplets of liquid upon her facials, a prompt panic scattered through her irises, igniting her heart in a matter of seconds. A low hiss of annoyance left the feminine, oddly feline-like, before making a mad dash for the house, disappearing promptly inside, narrowly avoiding the blunt of the downpour, leaving the man and woman outside without a care. Her antics promptly a snort of amusement from the man, shaking his head, before returning his gaze to the feminine upon her questioning. "Clementine. It's... My daughter, apparently," he mumbled, just as the rain began to quite literally pour from the skies above, beginning to soak the pair. Though personally he didn't mind the rain, he took the feminine into consideration, extending a hand to gently take her own. "Eponine, I promise you, you have nothing to fear from me, or from her. Come inside." And with that, he made the effort to gently lead her inside the house.
