[presto] We're not promised tomorrow They had returned from their 'rendezvous' at the beach a week or two ago and she had felt better. From what though? Had they mended the patches and the scars they had watched form in their very own eyes? It sure as hell seemed like it. Finally, she had found the strength to recover, to forgive herself, to be happy again. The woman had taken a turn for the better. While bottling her emotions was basically still her priority in terms of keeping her sanity, she was quite content in how she had found the safety she had once yearned for. The safety of feeling sane and forgetting all her troubles and worries. This was for the better, she was sure... But nothing could actually ever stay happy, right? Life loved to take a shit on her whenever feeling sane was even an option. No, this was her life. The life she chose to take. It all started on that one traumatizing day..
Lilly stumbled through the streets, dazed and confused. She held her black work apron in her hands tightly as shaky and thin legs worked their way down the concrte sidewalk with uncertainty. Unfortunately she knew nothing of the dangers of the outside world and thus she was put into farther and greater danger than she could ever imagine. Half-closed bronze eyes looked about the shadows and darkness, straining to find her way home. Unfortunately she didn't have a car at this time as she was practically dirt poor but hey who could blame her. A masculine hand shot out from one of the alleyways to tug her aside, releasing so she was knocked breathless onto the asphalt ground. She watched as the darkness seeped in, clouding her vision with fear and terror.
Softly, she groaned and turned around in her sleep. The sheets tightened on her skin as she shifted about on the bed, but she ignored the feeling as the deep sleep was threatening to take her over. It had only been a couple of weeks here but it already felt like Hell. She had been ripped from her friends, the comfort she had known for such a short amount of time, but wanted to stay with it meant she could escape this place of darkness. She had been transported in her sleep, forced into a chair and being strapped in it so she couldn't move. Slowly her eyes opened to see that she was lost in the shadows. She couldn't move a muscle even if she tried. A soft whimper escaped her vocal cords. Fingers felt the hard wood that her hand had been strapped to. She had been disobedient the day before now she would pay. The door to the cellar slowly creaked open, the hinges rustily moving with unease. She became afraid very fast at seeing Andel in the door way. Her small and lithe frame had now begun to shake. Hands gripped the soft sheets around her, curling towards her stomach as a whine of fear over came her.He approached her just as the devil would. He flicked on a light that hung from the ceiling, illuminating the middle of the empty room. Lilly lowered her head towards her chest, eyebrows curving upwards."You've been a very disobedient girl.. it's time that you've learned a lesson."The man instructed in a firm purr. She could find no words that would be her savior. No images that could break her from this terror and give her a sense of hope. She was afraid... a shaking woman that hid in the darkness. Eyes watched as his fingers lingered over a tray of a set of knives. He landed on a large kitchen knife, shiny and metallic yet scary all the same. "I think we'll start with this, shall we?"He taunted before his hands gripped the woman's collar and jerked her head forward. The blade slowly cut through her fabric, making her listen to the tear of the clothing. Eyes squeezed shut at the feeling of being exposed squeezed her heart. Breathing quickened, the light swish of the air conditioning touched her now bare body. The only clothing she had on her upper frame was her bra which of course was supposed to be unseen. She could feel the tingling presence as the blade was brought closer to her collar bone. "I would hate to ruin that pretty face of yours."He purred once more before slicing into the sensitive skin. Muscles coiled and twitched as the blood dripped down her pale skin, a wince forming on her lips. The skin atop her nose crinkled with distaste and pain. The metallic weapon had moved to her stomach and sides now to slowly drag it through her flesh, the crimson liquid now staining and flowing off her frame. Her head twisted back and up, trying to find something to distract her from the harm and the scars being inflicted on her. "If you squirm, you'll only make it worst and we wouldn't want that now would we?"Her chest heaved heavily, fingers curling around the chair's arm as if finding solstice in it. His fingers suddenly had unbuckled the restraints on her, and before she knew what happened, his rough hand gripped her hair and threw her down onto the concrete floor. A quiet squeal of surprise ripped from her lips, hands and arms catching her so she wouldn't land flat on her face. Eyes wide, she peered at the man out of the corner of her gaze. She saw the black whip in his hand, causing her to tense up once more. "Now let's have some fun, shall we?"The crack of the whip against concrete sounded off in the empty room. Squeezing her orbs shut once more, she awaited for the searing pain of the object snapping against her tender skin. It was a few minutes before he raised his hand and the whip snapped against her back. Once. Twice. Three times until it was a few moments of a break. She searched the pain for any sort of what she was being taught. Of what she could learn so she could survive through this Hell. But she had little time to dwell and sulk when he began the crack of the whip once more."Who am I?"Swallowing the lump in her throat, she turned her head to look at him. "Y-You're my.. m-master.." She shakily answered, frame trembling in fear and pain. That's right... I'm YOUR Master."
Eyes snapped open, hands shooting up to grip her head fiercely. Nails dug into her scalp, tears slipping down her cheeks, body sitting up rather quickly. Heavy puffs of air blew through her nares in an attempt to calm down. Her heart slowly stopped pounding in her throat, settling back down in her chest. "I'm not afraid... It was just a dream... I'm not scared.." Lilly whispered to herself before slowly looking to the digital clock by her bed. It was 7 AM and like hell she was going back to sleep. With a sigh, she drug a hand over her facial features, leaning over the bedside, hunched over to look down at her hands. "You haunt me even when I'm thousands of miles away..." She whispered to herself sulkily, placing her head in her hands with a groan. "God dammit.." Her leg bounced up and down irritably. Even when she was happy there was always a way to make her remember. To make her regret her decisions and ever having the ability to remember all that happened in her life.

two Em posts in one day - ur welcome <3 so when you have t o d a y SAY ALL THAT YOU HAVE TO SAY He was used to the nightmares by now; the early mornings, waking to the sound of her hushed murmurs as she searched for relief. But the most devastating part? Having to watch. Prying open his dreary eyes first thing to see her huddled form longing for comfort.. and knowing all too well there was nothing he could do. Physically, perhaps, but no touch could quell the demons in her head, not permanently. That was a battle she'd have to fight on her own with time and patience. Luckily they had all the time in the world.
The day started like it often did, with a shift. Through an unconscious state he felt a dip in the mattress beside him - Lilly was up. He didn't know why, not through the fog of sleep, but he didn't find any particular appeal to waking up early, not unless needed, his career was strenuous in itself and he needed all the rest he could get. The man shifted and pulled the comforter up over his shirtless form, fighting the consciousness that threatened to drag him into the light.
But it appeared as if the light would win. Now his brain stirred, intently focusing on the activity on the other side of the bed, the sound of her desperate whispers crawling into his muddy thoughts. And that's when it clicked. A grunt escaped him, stiffly turning towards the other body and pulling open his eyelids to focus hazy and squinted eyes on her. After that it didn't take him very long to wake.
Her curled form came into his line of sight, instantaneously causing the sleep to slip from his irises. "Lilly?" He asked in a drowsy grumble, gripping his pillow closer to his skull and, above all else, wishing he could get back to sleep. But the woman and her mental stability meant more to him than a few minutes of extra sleep. His brows curled now, propping himself up on an elbow to better watch. "Another nightmare?" A frown tugged at the corners of his lips at the thought, surely if he was able to jump into her head and save the day he could, but until then her troubles would weigh on him like the weight they were.
He was not so naive to think that their fun at the beach was enough to fix all, especially with life being so cruel to them both. It was a wonderful break from their otherwise troubled existence, a good clearing of the mind and definitely a moment of 'bonding', but reality had sunk back in and it was harsh. Lilly was still in pain, maybe more confident in herself now, but still struggling nonetheless, and this only proved it. Emmett sighed heavily, reaching out a gentle hand to lay on her lower back. "You're okay, babe." Maybe he wasn't all that free from exhaustion after all, for seconds later he'd collapsed heavily back onto his side of the bed and extended an open arm to her. "C'mere."
feels like i'm doing things all wrong, still i'm here just holding on

[presto] We're not promised tomorrow Lilly wasn't one for being scared of others. It may seem like it, but the only person she was afraid of was herself. She had the power to hurt her loved ones, to break off all ties with humanity. And that scared her. She didn't like power, she didn't like knowing that she had the potential of being someone she hated. But she already hated herself, so what was there to lose? She had two sides to herself to which she hated both of them. One weak and the other full of venom and poison. Her amnesia self was lurking beneath the shadows behind her heart, waiting to take a drop by and destroy all she knew. Perhaps if she were stronger (or if she stopped getting knocked down all the time) then she could be better. Better for her family, for her daughters, for Emmett, for this child. This... this product of disloyalty and a nightmare only the darkness of her mind could come up with. This baby was so.. so wretched to everybody else. She knew what Emmett had thought of it. He had proposed to her, if that lessened the blow than if she told him any other time he would of been really pissed. But, he had a right to. She fucked up, just like her life was turning out to be. Despite what she was given, what she lived in, with a perfect fiance and two little children, not everything was what it seemed. Funny how houses looked so normal but what went on inside them nobody knew of. She had lost all dignity and pride that day. When Emmett had finally stopped holding it in. But it helped him so why was she complaining? She deserved this. Every last memory that struck her heart with pain and regret. She was supposed to be recovering but her nightmares had brought her back to a time of sulking and brooding. "Trust." He harshly scoffed at it, a hardened glare setting in his blue eyes as it was directed at her. "Why the hell would I trust anyone now?" Muscles tightened and bunched together, tensing underneath her skin but she tried to keep her calm and patient demeanor. Amber eyes watched as he paced about the room furiously, making her fingers dig into the cushions of the couch. "You just fucked about everyone I know, and you expect me to trust you? God dammit Lilly." She saw the disgust and furious look in his eyes, despite the pain it caused her heart, making it writhe and suffer. It was chipping off... bit by bit, breaking and cracking on the ground as it hit the bottomless pit of her inner self. She had done this. She was paying the price she had caused by being so weak as to fall off a horse. So pathetic that she lost control of herself and let her mind put its defenses up (very strange ones).
Slowly she watched his masculine hands grab a lamp and throw it across the Cabin to break against the wall, glass pieces splintering as it hit the ground, just like her sanity. This was her fault. She caused this. This was all her fault and she deserved this. "I'm not telling you shit." His harsh, deep voice once more growled at the woman. Her small and lean form had now begun to shake with fear. Muscles rippled, skin twitching as she pulled her knees to her chest to hug them as if they could ever provide any defense were he to lose control. "I will tell you, though, that this baby is the worst possible thing and if you think I'm just going to accept it like some fucking hero, you're more screwed up than I thought."Thick tears slowly slipped down her soft cheeks at the memory, hands placing themselves at the side of her head, fingernails digging into her scalp slightly. She never thought that Emmett would accept it. It wasn't his own, why would he? Smoothing out her hair, she glanced towards her bloating stomach with a familiar and aching sadness. This poor child... born without growing up with its real father. Would Emmett raise it like his own? Would he even care to? Would he leave her to take care of the kid? It was hers after all.. He didn't have to take care of it. He had a right to still be angry with her, to not want this child. She couldn't imagine the pain and agony she must of caused him... she had gone through people who had cheated on her many times, she knew too well of grief and heartache. How he was still able to forgive her was beyond her comprehension. How he could still love her was unknown, she was so crazy. The world was out to get her and he was in the crossfire. They had been through hell, heaven, and back. How it had happened in less than a year was insane for the most part. Time would heal everything just as it had broken her apart in the first place. She had waited too long to do something, she had to find the strength within herself to try and recover. If not for her own sake then for her family's. She needed to be the mother her daughters wanted- no, needed her to be. And she needed to be there for Emmett because to be honest, he deserved somebody to be there. She had never got the privilege for most of her life and now was the time to let somebody else have what she could never have. His grunt had broken her of her sulking, leg stopped bouncing up and down to listen to his shuffling. "Lilly? Another nightmare?" A sigh escaped her lips softly, passing through her vocal cords briefly to glance back at her fiancé. "..Yeah, kinda." The woman answered with a weak smile. The small grin slowly dissipated though at his frown, making her hands curl around her knees. Lilly hated making him worry.. especially when she didn't deserve the concern. She never gained it nor would she ever. Not anymore at least. His warm placed itself on her back, making her skin prickle and twitch slightly. "You're okay, babe." Eyes glanced away from his tired expression briefly. Waking him up wasn't exactly a favored thing to do. Her gaze spotted the now offered spot next to his form. "C'mere." Eyebrows curved upwards briefly before shuffling back onto the bed and tucking herself next to his thermal-radiating body. An arm almost immediately crossed itself over his stomach in affection. "How do you stay strong, Emmett?" She asked curious but her voice stayed quiet, nothing more than a whisper. Tags: red <3Words: 1144 Notes: --- love you like im gonna lose you [/presto]

dis is overdue and crap. sorry D: so when you have t o d a y SAY ALL THAT YOU HAVE TO SAY With every fiber of his being Emmett knew, deep down, that there would always be a prickle of doubt about her. It was like a nasty cold he could not rid himself of, an annoying and bothersome little feeling that often made him question what it was he so badly wanted to believe. He wanted to throw that feeling away, just as badly as he wanted to breathe. But as humans go Emmett was far from perfect, and he wasn’t sure that he could forget. Not with another man’s child staring him in the face.
Though the pain and she faced was enough to make him wish he could. It had been months and with each passing day his own anger faded, yet the woman still refused to forgive herself. But then again she’d always been a bit of a stubborn woman at the best of times, unable to accept what had always been right in front of her. Even around around the man’s own flicker of doubt he knew that they were going to be okay. Each passing day proved it; the sun rose and fell, the earth continued to turn, and their two girls continued to grow at an alarming rate.
He was a father, a proud one at that, and could not afford to dwell in the past especially so with the incoming new baby, however tense the situation. Life was for the living and he was not a man to sit around and wait to be filled with regrets later on. Perhaps that was enough, deep in his mind, to let it all go. All that mattered then and there was to support her in the best way that he could, and at this moment that happened to be holding her through a nightmare. No matter the actual outcome of his affection, no matter how she refused to accept it, it was all he could do.
A smile cracked his tired features as he noticed her sheepish behavior, dark blue irises dragging themselves over her lightly. Despite the exhaustion that glittered in the woman’s own eye and her frazzled appearance she was still as beautiful as the day he met her. It was moments like these where he was able to toss his doubt to the back of his mind. She was so damaged, so torn over what she’d done that he could hardly dare to think negatively of her.
He released a long breath, sinking back into the warmth of his bed and waiting for his fiancé to accept the offer into his arms. Now that he had been woken it was not until he was positive she was okay that he could fall back asleep. It wasn’t long before her warmth found him, and with it the immediate sensation of bliss. With the weight of the world heavily on their shoulders it seemed the safest place for her was in the arms he wrapped across her slender form. Immediately the man leaned to lay a kiss on her head before dragging her closer to him. “Hmmm, strength?”
Despite the situation the man found an ounce of humor return to him, the kind that twinkled at his eye yet would not verge into anything further. He bent to brush his lips against her again, although this time the soft skin of her forehead. “I work out.” He replied in a hushed, yet sarcastic reply. Apparently the man was incapable of remaining serious for longer than two seconds at a time, or perhaps a good-natured attempt at lightening the mood. “And then when that doesn’t work …. I throw you around instead.” With his tone taking on a playful growl he squeezed her gently to his side, however briefly.
Strength? Was there even such a thing as strength? The woman’s question echoed through his mind repeatedly and with it, the light falling from his eyes again. “I wouldn’t call myself strong, Lilly.” He then insisted, prying open his eyes to glance about the room before looking down to her. Silence took over the room for several long seconds as he thought, eventually his quiet and gentle voice breaking the quiet. “I look at you. That’s how. I see you, and all you’ve been through… and our beautiful daughters. And I know then that no matter what the world has put us through… our family is more important than anything my brain might be telling me otherwise.” is there a right way for being S T R O N G ?

She sat in the dark, because to be honest where else would she belong than to no other than what plagued her? She may of kept going, but it didn't necessarily feel very happy. Perhaps this would all phase soon, sink away like a terrible dream. Unless her life was in general a terrible dream that she could never wake up from. Perhaps coming to California was a mistake. Maybe she should of stayed in Florida? Then again, she wouldn't of met the people she had now. She wouldn't have her little Macy to protect her either. An amuse grin sadly lit her features before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. The shuddering of her heart slowly calmed down, becoming a steady beat inside her chest. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear (like that was going to help).
Her bronze eyes shifted to his small smile. Gaze sunk away for a brief moment as he gazed at her frame. She was sensitive of what her skin held. Of the memories that sealed themselves within her scars. It seemed her body recognized her dream when a slight ache was brought to the whip-marks across her back. Of the words and the lines she had carved into her soft skin. She swallowed the lump in her throat, steadying her breathing slowly. She couldn't think about that now and make Emmett worry again. She didn't deserve for him to care, but if he loved her then well she loved him more. She just didn't want to hurt him. Losing him was something worst than what she was going through, and maybe that thought was what kept her going. What kept her from just dying where she laid, where she could let go, because the thought of leaving him was too great. Making him suffer was what made her feel this guilt. She had given him the worst days of his life, and it probably still dragged through in his mind. It wouldn't be any different for her if he had done the same thing. Maybe that's what scared her. To be in his position, to watch him slowly turn his back on her and leave her in the shadows with nothing left but her broken heart and memories of what once was.
Fortunately his voice broke her from her what if kind of thoughts. She slipped in the space next to him, curling up against the larger man with the need to seek his protection. From what? She didn't quite know. But once upon a day she had made keeping her in order his job, and she regretted it. He wasn't supposed to handle her, he had his own problems to deal with. He had his own emotions, she shouldn't of ever even thought of putting her weight onto him. Maybe she was just that dependent, that selfish. That she made her fiancé have to deal with her problems, as if they were his own. How foolish could she be? How could he live with that burden? Was that why he bottled his emotions up? Eyes glanced downwards. He was like a bomb, more so than she knew. He could explode at any second because there was nobody to help him. Did he have any friends? Anybody where he could rant to? Where he could release his emotions out? Eyebrows curved upwards at the thought, holding him tighter like if she let go he would slip away. Because maybe one day he would. Maybe one day she would drive him away, or the tick tick of the clock ended and he exploded just like any bomb would. She ducked her head against his chest just so she could listen to the beating of his heart, just to find some familiar comfort, some form of safety.
A kiss against her head made her glance up, offering a small smile. "Hmmm, strength?" She nodded slowly, searching his features for any sign of a serious or soft emotion, but instead found humor in his navy blue eyes. He offered a kiss against her forehead once more, before replying. "I work out." A snort escaped her followed by a roll of her eyes. "Haha you're very funny." She scoffed with a light hearted smile. "And then when that doesn't work... I throw you around instead." A chuckle bubbled from her ever so slightly at his playful nature. "Yeah, okay. Whatever you say tough guy." She answered sarcastically before the grin fell when the humor left his gaze as well. "I wouldn't call myself strong, Lilly. I look at you. That's how. I see you, and all you've been through... and our beautiful daughters. And I know then that no matter what the world has put us through... our family is more important than anything my brain might be telling me otherwise." A slow smile came upon her lips, her eyes becoming glassy from some form of tears, a hand reaching up to wipe them away. "That's the sappiest shit you've ever said to me." She said in a grateful yet light hearted tone. However some form of the need to tell him what lurked inside of her welled up inside her. Should she say something? Should she tell him? What would he think? Would he still love her or would he send her to a mental ward?
Tears now dripped from her face, and it wasn't from the sap that just spewed out of his mouth. "Have you ever felt like feeling nothing at all was better than what you were going through right now?" She asked, her voice hushed as she stared into the dark room. "Because then maybe you'd begin to understand what kind of a monster I am." She spoke, her eyes never moving once to search his face. She stared ahead into the eternal shadows, that somehow brought her some form of comfort, more so than what she had at the moment. "I try to stay strong. I do everything for you, if not for myself. A-And I tell myself it'll all get better... but it d-doesn't." Her frame started shaking. This was possibly the first time she had ever truly confided in him, and there was some sort of relief coming off of her. A weight being lifted off her shoulder almost, and then she couldn't stop the flowing tears when she was reminded that when she stared into the pitch black, she was really staring into what her soul looked like. Nothing. "I'm so sorry, Emmett. For causing you that pain. For ever thinking it was okay to make it your job to keep my emotions in control, because it's not. It never was, and it shouldn't be." She couldn't stop the words, they rushed out like a tidal wave, and it felt like it was better than anything medicine could offer. "I'm s-so sor-ry." She said once more, the tightening of her throat making it increasingly hard to speak clearly. "I'm not strong, I know that much. I know t-that I h-have to keep m-moving forward, but i-it hurts like h-hell. But I-I do it for y-you, b-because I love you. I d-don't know how I-I could ever f-forget y-you through a-all of i-it if y-you were the one that w-was always k-keeping me going." Finally she stopped talking, finding that no words could describe how much she loved him, or how sorry she was, nor no matter what she went through he was the only thing that kept her moving forward. Because words could never tell what she thought about day after day, and maybe things were better left unsaid. "I-If I e-ever l-lose my emo-otions... and t-the pain b-becomes so much t-that feeling n-nothing be-ecomes a reality.... I-I just w-want to s-say that... I l-love you."
