Vague images of her unnamed father's face flashed in the back of her mind. He was such an angry soul, but why? What had life done to him to make him so full of hate? The blurry scene soon faded from sight leaving the woman whispering out of the blue, "Father..where did you go?" She asked before opening her eyes, only just realizing that she had spoken aloud. She was moving, but she wasn't walking. It took a few moments for her to get bearings of her surroundings before she realized that she was being carried by something or rather, someone. "Oh, it is you Andrew. I apologize, it seems as though I passed out." She apologized as she forced herself to her own two feet. "I do not see why you thought that I would fear you, you seem to have a very kind heart." Eponine was always one to judge individuals by their hearts, although it was a mystery as if her judgement was worth more than a penny for her thoughts. Moving her arm she frown as she remembered the ache in her shoulder. "I was not expecting that man to be so violent towards me. Strange, I didn't even do anything to cause him anger, or am I mistaken?" She questioned as she walked a little ways ahead, spotting her rather cozy home nestled on one of the streets of Cherrygrove. "I don't visit this home much, I don't fancy being between walls. But..my other home is a bit too far for now." Then she couldn't see very well at night and honestly? She was too tired to make the trip regardless, so she made her way up to the door. "Is there anything I can do to repay you for your heroicness, Andrew? Perhaps some homemade herbal tea to provide you with a soothing comfort for your mind and soul?" She asked as she retrieved the single key from underneath the door mat and unlocked the door, a habit she had learned from man. "Would you like to come inside?"She asked curiously, almost hopefully, as she waited just a little ways inside her humble abode.

Andrew kept trudging on through the night, head raised high as a neutral scaly mask was poking out from the shadows of the moon. He breathed softly, legs picking up lowly off the ground with a tired expression. It had been a while since he picked up the female griffin shifter and he hadn't put her down since. Running wasn't an option as he was too afraid she'll slip right out of his grasps... just like everyone else did. Hell, it didn't even matter how or why but they just did. Slithered right out of his heart like it had never existed in the first place. But, hey he deserved it, right? After all, he got what he wanted. Wanted to be the top dog and had all the power. But, nobody told him how lonely it would be at the top nor how dangerous.
A soft and feminine mumble of a voice broke through his broodily thoughts. Reptilian-like pupils glanced back at the woman he carried upon his fur covered back. "Oh it is you Andrew. I apologize, it seems as though I passed out." The Chimera offered a small smile. "Not at all, Eponine. I am quite alright with carrying you." The male answered before slowly lowering himself to the ground so she could get off. "I do not see why you thought that I would fear you, you seem to have a very kind heart." Eyes shined briefly with gratitude and happiness at the prospect of somebody seeing him as nothing of a monster or a furious beast looking for blood. "Well... people have different opinions about me.. it's-it's no big deal." He answered before slowly shaking his head.
"I was not expecting that man to be so violent towards me. Strange, I didn't even do anything to cause him anger, or am I mistaken?" Andrew sighed and shook his thick skull once more. "No, it wasn't you. Some people are naturally angry, maybe he was too drunk, or he was just really twisted." He told the blonde woman before following her obediently. "I don't visit this home much, I don't fancy being between walls. But.. my other home is a bit too far for now." He tilted his head curiously at her statement. "Other home? Do you live in more than one place?" He asked with intriguingly, armored tail slowly swishing behind his flanks like a dog's tail wagging. "Is there anything I can do to repay you for your heroicness, Andrew? Perhaps some homemade herbal tea to provide you with a soothing comfort for your mind and soul?" Now, who couldn't say no to a person like her? So kindly he offered a grin once more. "Sure. If you don't mind, of course." He answered lightly. "Would you like to come inside?"
His smile only broadened with every kind and sweet word. Every sweet lie. He didn't deserve this treatment nor would he ever. He was simply some animal driven by instincts, hardwired into his brain. All he ever knew was to eliminate the enemy and who could blame him? He didn't know what else to do. He wasn't taught to be caring or kind. He wasn't brave. He just saw a threat and got the job done in getting him away. But pushing aside the thoughts, he slid inside the building with a new curiosity, eyes alighted with eagerness to explore this new terrain. Slinking around, he glanced down at the furniture settled on the ground. That is until he hit a coffee table, flipped onto it and fell off with a crash. "Sorry!"

❝ you're not the only one ❞ She remained quiet as she weighed the actions of the nameless man with the unpredictable temper. He had not been the first shifter she had encountered, nor the first with the worst temper. Nay, that award would have to go to Menelaus Henson, at least the man had not tried to force himself upon her as the feline shifter had done earlier.
Her attention was pulled back to her newfound companion, her head tilting slightly to one side. "Oh, yes. I don't favor man's idea of shelter all that much. I used to venture to my home in..well.." She raised a dainty hand and pointed in the general direction of the mountains that formed the skyline. "But I tend to stay here longer now, because I want..." She trailed off, not wanting to admit what her mind was clearly thinking. I want to stay near Menelaus. She finished the unspoken words within her head, and it only seemed to bring sorrow upon her heart.
With a heavy sigh she moved about her house heading straight for the kitchen. Eponine remained quiet for a good moment as she retrieved fresh herbs that she had ventured out to retrieve from their purest stages out in the woods during one of her weekly hikes. The herbs smelled strong, but held medicinal properties, relaxing sore muscles and easing the mind. Without muttering a word she set a pot of water to boil and tossed the finely chopped herbs into the pot.
Figuring a bit of fruit would do the mixture good, she began to dice an apple, only to slightly slice her finger from hearing the commotion in the living room. Her gaze studied the trickle of blood that slightly came from the small cut. "Oh, it's quite alright Andrew, don't worry yourself. It is merely a coffee table, nothing more." She spoke soothingly to the chimera as she moved to hold a towel under cold water before wrapping it around her hand. So much for adding a bit of fruit to the tea.
Making sure that the towel remained upon her left hand, she carefully poured the contents of the boiling pot into a pitcher. Somehow she managed to retrieve two mugs from one of the cabinets under the sink and filled them delicately with the hot herbal tea. One by one she brought them over to the living room, setting them on a nearby bookshelf. "Take ease, Andrew. You need not remain in that form, I promise I won't hurt you." She spoke quietly as she knelt down to return the coffee table to its rightful position. Relocating the mugs of tea upon the coffee table, she took up refuge on the couch, removing the towel from her hand once she was certain that the bleeding had stopped. "You are very skittish, yet not afraid to fight for your own. What plagues you?" She asked calmly, her blue gaze resting on the fabled creature as she grabbed her own mug of tea and brought it to her lips silently, her gaze continuing to observe Andrew in the dim light of the living room. ❝ you need not be afraid here ❞

Why was he here exactly? Because this woman didn't see him for the monster he was? Her innocence must of saved her from seeing the true chaos within his soul. The demons within his heart might of spared some light upon this blonde girl, perhaps they feared of showing themselves to her. What was so special about her anyway? Did she make some sort of light come from within? A snort came from his nostrils, a roll of his eyes followed. Like a stranger could possibly make a connection with the darkness the played within him. "Oh, yes. I don't favor man's idea of shelter all that much. I used to venture to my home in.. well.." His blue and red eyes followed her finger tip that lead to the mountains, making his gaze glitter with an adventurous curiosity, much to that of a puppy. Was it cold up there? Was it free? Could you see the horizon dip below with the sun as it set? A blink of his eyes made him switch back to reality and followed into the house. However his big stature would get the better of him.
He laid on the ground, slightly dazed as he gazed up on the ceiling. "Oh, it's quite alright Andrew, don't worry yourself. It is merely a coffee table, nothing more." He slowly rise and shook his fur out, licking his shoulder to fix his fur briefly before bouncing over to the woman like an expectant dog. He stuck to her side even as she poured the tea and fixed the coffee table. "Take ease, Andrew. You need not remain in that form, I promise I won't hurt you." He sat in front of the coffee table as she put the mugs down. "I kinda can't. I won't have any clothes on and... well I wouldn't have very good table manners if I was naked in front of a stranger." He offered a cheeky smile before leaning his head forward to peer at his reflection in the cup. "You are very skittish, yet not afraid to fight for your own. What plagues you?" He blinked, trying not to focus on the oddly loud sound of his frantic heart beating. What was this? Why was he nervous that somebody had seen the first step to putting together the big picture of what he was. Talons curled into the floor gently before swallowing down the lump in his throat. "I'm... well... not very many people like me.." He started with a sad, longing grin. "I've been thrown into jail many times now because i've had outbreaks with my brother. We... well we fight a lot, physically and verbally so... yeah. I'm not a good man, I know. I have my own beastly urges, ones I cannot describe to you in words. But... i'm a dangerous man." He hung his head, a weight lifting off his shoulders.
What was that? Relief? Is that what people meant when talking helped? But... he never really wanted to talk about it. Or at least, not until he just poured some information about himself. What would she say? What was her emotion right now? Did she feel horror? Terror? Fright? He wouldn't dare to release his gaze from inside the cup, to see the guilt in his eyes, the fear. The way his muscles tensed as if he was practically waiting for her to strike him with a broom. Maybe even call the police, the thought making him squeeze his eyes shut. "I can leave if you want..." He echoed softly before slowly shifting his eyes upward in an apologetic manner.

❝ you're not the only one ❞ The man, the chimera, he was so skittish, so unlike his kind. Eponine had heard stories of how aggressive and hate filled chimera were, but this one set fire to all of those documents, and texts. Something was wrong, what troubled the man so? The woman felt as though she had to at least take the time to dig a little further, as he had saved her life, after all. And that was enough to make him a friend in her book.
She listened on in silence at the man's words, him explaining what troubled him so, and honestly? Eponine expected him to say worse, but this? This was miniscule things, other people had heavier, more extravagant things troubling them. Andrew's troubles compared to certain individuals was nothing to compare. "Oh Andrew.." She commented quietly as she knelt down and looked up at the mix-matched beast. The woman's demeanor had not changed in the slightest, if anything she felt the urge to feel sympathy for this beast.
They were alike, perhaps not the jail parts, but the fact that they were the black sheep, odd creatures as a whole. How could anyone expect them to belong, to blend in so easily with everyone else? "I think you're a good man." She spoke, a genuine small appearing upon her features. A hand reached forward to pat the beast's head, not a single ounce of fear moving in her veins. "Why would you want to leave? I know my company may entice boredom, but it hasn't even been an hour yet." She commented quietly, dropping her hand after a moment.
This Andrew was a poor, damaged soul, but from Eponine's perspective, he really didn't have that much to brood over. "Oh, but your brother. I believe brothers tend to do that, and being aggressive is in your blood. You are a chimera, after all. You need to stop fighting who you are, Andrew. If you can do just that, everything will gradually fall into place. You cannot try to abandon who you are, as it will always be there. You will always be you, but you know what? There is nothing wrong with that. And besides, we all make mistakes, do we not? We are not human..but I think...that's one of the things that make us a little human.." She trailed off finally, she herself pondering on things in her silence.
However, she did not ponder for long as she was looking back up at the chimera, a warm smile present upon her facial features. "Life goes on, Andrew. I promise, everything will be okay. In the end, it always is." She assured him once more, the warmth of her smile seeming to add further justification to her words. ❝ we all make mistakes ❞

[attr="class","idef"] [attr="class","nref"] She didn't understand. She could never understand. She wasn't bad, she was accepted, she was welcomed. She was just another normal person. How could she understand? "Oh Andrew.." Her voice was gentle and quiet, making him hang his head lowly, her soft voice was new to him. He had been so adjusted to Madilynn's sweet voice that any other's were so.... so foreign. So different. Though she knew not of the thoughts of blood lust that ran through his mind. She couldn't understand what hurting the love of her life could feel like. He had once tried to kill Madilynn, out of jealousy, of anger. He was a threat to her. To their child. To his family. He shouldn't breathe. Shouldn't live. What if he hurt his child? If he harmed his daughter should something go wrong? Would he kill somebody? Would he kill his brother? What if he lost control? If he lost his grip on the shred of sanity he held dear?
"I think you're a good man." His mix-matched eyes glanced to meet her sincere grin, albeit small. He allowed her to pet his head, a soft purr rumbling deep in his throat as she did so, a cat's nature of course. "Why would you want to leave? I know my company may entice boredom, but it hasn't even been an hour yet." He offered a small smile as his talons shuffled around underneath his frame. He reached forward to nudge her chin with his head gently. "You don't bore me." He stated with a wide grin. "Oh, but your brother. I believe brothers tend to do that, and being aggressive is in your blood. You are a chimera, after all." He blinked a couple of times. He didn't particularly like being a Chimera, but he certainly didn't welcome anybody talking bad about his species. He tilted his head to the side in confusion. Aren't you just fuckin' peachy? He thought bitterly but continued to listen to her words in silence. "You will always be you, but you know what? There is nothing wrong with that. And besides, we all make mistakes, do we not? We are not human.. but I think... that's one of the things that make us a little human.." He slowly nodded before letting out a chuckle. "You are right, dear Eponine. Maybe I cannot help the fact that I am aggressive, nor the fact that I am not human, but I do believe I can be a man." He stated with a nod before slowly standing and her his flank, which unfortunately had a deep gash with a slightly deeper circle in the middle of it. "My brother shot me, he was so pissed at me." He laughed, as if it was all a joke. As if he was sitting with an old friend reminiscing about older memories.
"Life goes on, Andrew. I promise, everything will be okay. In the end, it always is." He nodded. "Perhaps so. Perhaps one day I will be alright. I will be a better man, and I will feel better, be better. And perhaps the future holds brighter things for me." He flashed a toothy grin before poking his head near his cup of tea. He inhaled the herby scent, filling his senses with a sweet delight. He lapped at it, practically shoving what he could in the cup as he downed it. He slowly lifted his head when he was done, the mug sticking to his wide nose, staring at it in confusion. He snorted before pulling it off with his talons and shaking a few drops of liquid off his scales. "Sorry for my bad table manners. I'm.. not very good at this." He said light-heartedly with an innocent smile... or at least, as innocent as he could be.
