Essential Information
Appearance: Chase has a chiseled jaw line to die for, hair that styles itself and goes way too long between cuts. The most attention he pays to his looks goes into his body. He often sports stubble from being too lazy to shave, unbrushed hair that flops down to the side and in his eyes. He often sports bags under his eyes from lack of sleep. He has a scar along the back of his calf from where a yearling kicked him as a child. His skin tone gives off the appearance of being slightly tanned, under his clothes however he is very light skinned. His nose is crooked at its base, curtesy of a broken nose as a child.
He has a tattoo on his back, from his spine up to his shoulder on both sides are two wings done in thin black lines. In white ink to the left of his left pec muscle are the words " his and hers". His eyes are a blue grey with thick eyelashes that sick out more than they curl up.
Personality: Old money, Chase has never known a wanting day in his life. He has wanted for nothing. Everything including emotion has a price tag in his world and he is most comfortable playing within it's walls. He likes the control money brings, the knowledge that he can buy his way into what he wants, or out of what has happened. He is well versed in using money to buy his way into and out of things. He knows who to call for what job and doesn't hesitate to do it. He is impulsive and often makes spur of the moment decisions, he is however a little bit more careful with his money and his investments now that he doesn't have the backing of his father. That isn't to say however that his impulsive nature doesn't occasionally over ride that.
He is driven, and intensely passionate in the moment, he falls in love daily. Yet just as quickly as it happens something else will catch his attention and he will move on to the next thing with just as much passion. This goes for girls, cars, property, anything that he can feel something for. He has warped his emotions over the years, he feels things deeply and isn't afraid to show it. But they are fleeting, he will cool down from an angry outburst just as quick as he will a new flame. He does not lose interest in things that he is learning. He loves new things, he loves understanding how things work, how to do things. Once he starts something he doesn't stop till he understands the ins and outs perfectly. This is what makes him a better businessman that his father.
A dare devil, adrenaline is his new favourite thing. He used to be so conservative, he was the child who refused to go on roller coasters. He hated swimming in the ocean because of the potential dangers. He was always so focused on the what if's. Now in his every day he fights to over ride that, to do things he is scared to do. Hunting down that next rush. It stems from his need to control everything in his life, to always be able to see the outcome, always thinking three, four, ten steps ahead. This is his way of letting go, throwing it all to the wind.
Chase is not loyal, he is very sociable and loves the company of other people. He doesn't judge, he believes in its truest form that everyone has the right to live as they wish to. He see's the world in shades of grey, things are not black and white to him. Whilst his loyalty can not be bought, it can not very often be won either. It isn't because he is a bad person, a nasty person. He doesn't intentionally go out to hurt people. But he looks out for himself first, he always has. Out of need more than anything. So he will pick his well being over the loyalty of a friend. This makes him incredibly selfish at times.
Old fashioned, he is the kind to open doors for people, men, women and children. He stands up at the table when someone else does. He will give you his own clothes off his back to make sure you are warm. He will sacrifice his physical things to help you. But not his mental state. That is his, that is what makes him selfish from time to time.
History:
Chase was born on the Queensland coast in Australia. His mum ( Rosalyn Dale-Hastings ) left not longer after his first birthday. She was absent for the majority of his life. He is the only child of Bart Hastings a self made millionaire ( majority owner and creator of Hasting industries, a retail Pharmaceutical industry ). It goes without saying that Chases childhood consisted of an absent father figure, a warped view of family values and the best money could buy. He did well in school not because he had to, but because it was expected of him. He attended university and received several qualifications because it was required of him and he did what was necessary in is fathers eyes( did someone say Daddy Issues?). He attended pony club in his youth, swimming rallies as a teenager and tennis competitions as a young adult. His 6th birthday present was a pony, his 10th a horse. At thirteen he spent a month travelling the US. At 16 he got his own share portfolio. At 18 a car of his choice. 21 saw him receive a stake in the company and just like that his life was set. Before he knew it he had completed education chosen for him, learnt sports he was told too and without realising how it had happened he had his own stock broker, held meetings in his fathers place and came at a run whenever he was called
Up to this point he hadn't rebelled, he had watched his father struggling with the loss of his mother. The struggle to maintain a multinational business. The strains it put on his day to day life. He didn't want to be the spoilt child that complained about having too much, he wanted to help. To relive some of the burden. His friends were all in similar positions and they all dealt with it in their own way. By the time they were 21, one had lost his life in a car accident of his making. Another was contemplating life with a child to raise. Others had left their education behind to travel and some like himself had found themselves stuck in jobs and classes that meant nothing to them. For Chase this all changed on his twenty third birthday. His mother returned.
Rosalyn was back to make amends, or so she said. Chase wanted nothing to do with her, he moved out of his childhood home and into an apartment, one that he purchased himself. Just like that he had made a choice, it was done on impulse, poorly chosen and financially insecure. But he had made it happen. In the months that followed Bart was found less at work and more at home, he had done what Chase could not and forgiven her. It was a small thing, Chase had over come much more. Yet this was the hair that broke the camels back. Taking his new found independences he began to make choices, do as he wished not what was required of him. He skipped meetings, spent more money than he made, came home with strange girls and finally acted like the spoilt child of money. Those daddy issues had finally come home to roost and he was taking full advantage of it. Instead of reining him in like Bart had always done in the past, he chose now to be hesitant, to want to be a family man. It wasn't till Chase was twenty seven, that he stepped into the hurricane that was his life. Stepped in and cut him off. But by then it was too late, Chase was his own man, he had his own money, his own job with his own men. There was nothing to take away from him, money was no longer a motivating factor for Chase. In those two years he had seen the inside of every club ( above ground and under ) along the QLD coast. Spent more time out of the country than in. He had purchased a club, or hotel, an apartment block or house in whatever places he fancied along the way. Selling them only when they went bust, leaving his father to clean up the damages. Somewhere along the way he was told that Rosalyn was sick, that was the only reason she had returned. She was dying. Not wanting to believe it, or perhaps not wanting to face the truth of it, of himself. He didn't go home to see her, only seeing her once when she appeared on his door step. He saw then the full extent of what he had ignored. By now he was a master of denial, of running away. Using his means to have others clean up his mess. This was one mess he didn't know how to have fixed for him, one he would have to face himself.
The next time he saw her was six months later at her funeral. He left early and not five hours later he was caught driving drunk and spent the night in lock up whilst he sobered up. That was when Bart showed his face, attempted to reconnect with his son. To find him within the broken mess. Told him that if he wanted to destroy his life, he wasn't going to do it on his watch with his money. It was too little too late, Chase hadn't needed Bart or his money for a long time now and they both knew it. He is twenty seven now, a year or so after his mums death. Not much has changed, he has a son, or a daughter. Somewhere in the US. He sold his shares in Hastings Industries and contemplated living off that for the rest of his life. But found the bachelor life didn't hold the same appeal any more, he needed to be doing something. In that he found it easier to ignore other temptations. He dabbled further in real estate and for the first time since he was 16 started to take interest in his share portfolio. With nothing left oh his families, owing them nothing he left his Australian affairs with his own men and left for America. Ever since his first visit as a teenager he couldn't help but feel as if that was more of a home than Australia had ever been. He had family over here, a girl he barely knew and a child he knew he would never see. But it was a start, he needed a new start. A goal of his own for once.
Chase was taken to a stable during his first month in American soil by a new girlfriend. It brought back slightly happier memories of his childhood. He found the complexities of riding soothing. It was something that did not come naturally to him and in the fumbling he found some peace. He had always been around horses, be the race horses him and Bart had shares of over the years. Or the earlier years at pony club. He hadn't realised that it could be a bigger part of his life. Just like that he was hooked. The relationship soon ended, but Chase sought out a riding place wherever he was. He found some things coming back to him, but his understanding was basic still. It felt good to be learning something new again. He tossed everything he had into it, like everything, he wanted to be great. Somewhere along the way he figured it would be a good idea to buy into the racing world again. Knowing nothing he sought out a colt ready to take his debut, bought it outright. He would find someone to train it no doubt, someone to manage him and ride him. He was still impulsive.
