i am the angel in your eyes The sun beat down upon the earth with a blistering heat, something that probably was a result of varying temperatures due to global warming. Ah, the hoomin race was so determined to leave destruction in their wake wherever they went, with no regard to the fact that they were not the only living things upon the earth's surface.
Eponine had forced herself to get away from her lonely home, it had brought too sadness, the former which led to her spiral into a painful depression. She didn't like that feeling, feeling as though the world judged you just for breathing, feeling like there was no reason to go on anymore. Her hands were tense on the leather reins that were connected to her mount's bit, which caused the stallion to flatten his ears in annoyance. "My apologies, Pegasus." She whispered quietly as she relaxed her grip, simply nudging the horse's ivory sides gently to urge him into a trot.
The woman favored riding the horse without a saddle, as why should she hinder the beast's movement which such a silly thing? Besides, it wasn't comfortable in the terms of lower frame, either. Pegasus was a tall stallion, taking on more of the leaner, sportier type of his breed, the American Quarter Horse. Standing at 16hh, the stallion possessed the speed that was necessary to round barrels in a clover leaf pattern.
Blue eyes gazed around from atop the stallion, searching her surroundings hesitantly, but found nothing but the joyful conversations of the birds within the canopies of the trees. "This appears to be a good place." She murmured quietly as she slid off of the stallion's back and took hold of his reins, she herself leading the equine towards a clearing of untouched emerald blades of grass. "Hoomins don't come here much, I assume." The equine nickered a soft response, chewing on his bit rather impatiently. "Very well, take to the grasses then friend." She smiled slightly as she slipped the headstall off of the equines, hoping that he didn't decide to get spooked randomly.
As the cremello stallion took to grazing, the woman found herself sitting upon the ground, her back resting against a tree. She had come here to bird watch, a very peaceful pastime. With a heavy heart from the past events of the previous month, seeing birds fly up and around the clearing only eased her heart slightly, but nothing could ease her emotional pains.

Can't breathe whenever you're gone
[attr="class","CVimg1temp4"] [attr="class","CVcontainer2temp4"] She didn't want to leave... she couldn't. It wasn't fear of being followed or being hurt that had kept her there, it was love. Despite the man's abusive tactics she had loved him. Cared for him. She had wanted to help him but.. by the time she had gotten out of her shell, it was too late. Menelaus had plunged somewhere she couldn't follow. She had tried. She had tried to sum up enough power and strength to try and help him, but he was too far gone and even though he constantly needed to be reminded that she loved him, he never told her the same thing. It's not like she didn't need any confirmation that he didn't love her. That she was just somebody to take the beating in replace of his heart. It didn't mean that he actually cared for her. Even though, after all they had been through, she was the one who had finally ended up back where she started. Bruised, crying, and.. alone. More than she could ever know. As if he could ever understand the pain he had put her through, the conflicts her mind and heart had between themselves. She had loved him... so much, with all her heart, but she knew that if she stayed she would only get hurt more. Whether the excuse was to show Menelaus that if his acts continued he would lose somebody dear to him or not, she never knew. All she knew was that she had to get away... to avoid hurting him as he did to her.[break][break]
She woke up just like any other day, her body stiff and heavy as she laid there in bed, refusing to get up. However her canines had forced her to rise when they began their barking and their nuzzling and nudging. With a groan she slowly rolled out of bed before standing up, dreary eyed and tired. She had watched over her horses and took care of them before it was too late to continue staying up and went home. Rubbing her eyes, she slowly drifted to the kitchen to fill her dog's bowls and give them some water. Taking an apple out of the cabinet, she began to get out of her pajamas and slip into some day-time clothes. Putting on a pair of barn-appropriate boots, she set off with a goodbye to her pets, her daemon arctic fox in tow.[break][break]
She climbed in the car, Zach slowly jumped over her lap to get into the front passenger's seat. Shutting the door, she buckled on her seat belt and the Arctic Fox's and began to drive steadily. "So where are we heading?" The canine echoed, glancing over to the still awakening woman who had yet to fully begin to turn her brain on. "Uh... the barn. I was thinking we could take Smarty out... I gotta get a better nick name for him, eh?" A giggle bubbled from her throat before patting the fox briefly on its head. "...you still think about him... don't you?" Her eyes began to strain with that of guilt and regret, slowly shaking her head. "It doesn't matter anymore. The past is behind us and that's all that would ever matter.." She murmured before a smile stretched across her lips. "He lost his chance..."[break][break]
It wasn't long before she reached the stables. Climbing out of the car, Zach transferred to the locket hanging around her neck and began to stroll to get her gray dappled race horse. The thoroughbred was a sight to behold, but she loved all her horses equally. Maybe she could pay them all a visit? Stop by Cleo and her foals, maybe pay Mojo a visit. It would take a while but it'd be worth it. Slowly going to the pens, she swept her eyes across the area before spotting the dark bay coat of the mare, followed by the palomino and buckskin foals. Eyes lit up at the sight of the mare jogging her way towards her, the children in tow. A smile lit her face before reaching over and gently stroking the mother's muzzle. "Hey there..." She cooed, glancing down at the two fillies. "Momma's being good to you?" She murmured before looking over to see the bay overo, Mojo. The woman whistled to the colt who in response turned his head, ears pricked forward. Offering a wave to the colt, she smiled before heading off to go get Smarty.[break][break]
-[break][break]
She got out of the car, one of the mini stalls (or metal box thing) clipped to the back of her truck. Opening the doors, she took the halter and clipped it on, grabbing the leading rope and guided the equine through the trees and brush. "C'mon it's not too far now." She encouraged the young thoroughbred before the colt began to pick up his pace and jogged through the underbrush, breaking free to a field eagerly. From there she spotted a cremello stallion that had a thick build to it, lined with muscles and a stoic kind of body type. Blue eyes turned to see a woman leaning against a tree, looking to the sky with interest. Her stomach churned uneasily at the sight of another. "e-..excuse me.. m-ma'am. Is that... y-your horse?" She asked shakily, her hands fumbling with the bottom of her shirt uneasily.

i am the angel in your eyes She missed him.
That was all there was to it, yet she still banked on the hope that all would be okay in the end. Somehow life had a way of sorting out its own problems, perhaps it would sort out for the likes of.. The woman found her train of thought being interrupted by the approach of another, a voice soon followed.
Eponine shifted her gaze to the woman who appeared to be timid, nervous even. She appeared flighty, as though poised to run. Surely she couldn't be afraid of her? Her gaze shifting quietly to her own ivory mount who stayed a respectful couple of lengths away, tearing at the emerald blades underneath his hooves. "Yes..he is." She stated quietly, her voice soft as it typically was.
She had not expected to encounter anyone way out here, although she couldn't exactly say that this woman was a hoomin, something was.off. But only slightly, perhaps it was something on the wind. "May I inquire of your name?" She promptly asked, before quickly adding "If you do not wish to tell me, that is fine as well." At times, Eponine appeared to be too nice, too gentle. But wasn't it true? She never purposely sought out to harm a soul, unless backed into a corner. The rare circumstance where she has no choice but to rear the ugly side of her existence.
The woman looked as though she wanted to stand, but instead dropped her gaze back to the wild flowers that so desperately tried to sprout up in between the grasses. "Menelaus..I miss you so.." She whispered quietly to herself. Whenever she managed to pull her thoughts away from the man, eventually she found herself going back to thinking about him. Remembering his voice, the truth in his actions, his touch.. But here was no the place to break down, no she was not one to seek attention, especially from the likes of a stranger.
Shaking her head, she looked to her cremello stallion. Perhaps she should go home, but why should she? The home was dark, and only reminded her of just how alone she was at the end of the day with no one to visit, no one to call. "The equine that you've brought at your side is quite stunning." She stated, turning her bright blue gaze to the woman. Something about the woman disturbed her in the pits of her stomach. Although she couldn't help but push the feelings away, as they seemed absurd at the least. 446 words | @copious | crudddd

Can't breathe whenever you're gone
[attr="class","CVimg1temp4"] [attr="class","CVcontainer2temp4"] Copious wasn't the brave type. Never was, never would be. It isn't that she was necessarily afraid, just nervous. About losing what she held close. For the longest time she could remember, Menelaus was like her protector. He had always stood up for her and she hid behind him. Guess everything has a price, huh? She didn't ask for him to turn on her. Didn't asking for him to murder his father in cold blood and abuse her because the ties had snapped within his mind. Past concepts were... always such a wonder. Why the human mind dwells upon it for so long when it's done and gone is beyond her. Then again, seemed the past was something that interested her too. But it's not like she wanted to keep thinking about what happened, her mind was plagued, haunted, destined to always remember the time... when she lost all she knew.[break][break]
But of course, no time to dwell. She didn't want to seem like a freak in front of this woman, whoever she was. The skin at the tip of her ears grew hot when her gaze came upon her, making her glance away briefly in embarrassment. It wasn't always fun to know whether or not somebody thinks you're a freak. "Yes.. he is." Her voice was soft and silent, barely audible. The woman shuffled forward slightly, quietly sitting down with her legs crossed like a child. "May I inquire of your name?" She spoke a little strangely. Not like the modern talk at all, she had... an 'olden' way of speaking. Eyes hovered over the other for a moment, thinking about whether or not she seemed like a person to trust. That is, until her voice broke the stretch of silence. "If you do not wish tell me, that is fine as well." She glanced away briefly, before quietly opening her mouth. "Erhh.. it's... C-Copious." She answered before looking back to the woman and offering a small, crooked smile. "W-What's your name... if... y-you don't mind me a-asking."
Her blue eyes shifted back to the two horses, to which her newer equine seemed to be interested in. The gray dappled colt moved closer, nares flaring slightly to inhale the scent of this new horse. A quiet nicker rumbled from his throat in greeting before pawing at the ground and continuing to clamp his teeth around grass blades, pulling his lean head up to pull out the grass, munching on it quietly. Copious continued to watch the elegant creatures as they fed on the land, the Summer grass sprouting from the ground providing healthy food and nutritions for her horse. She heard the sound of the woman near to her whispering to herself, making her glance over at the woman. Although wanting to ask what she had spoke of, she wasn't the nosy type, and she probably wouldn't even tell her anyways. "The equine that you've brought at your side is quite stunning." She looked over to offer a soft grin. "Thank you. He's new, but he's sweet." She responded before glancing to the cremello male equine near her own colt. "That's quite a horse you have there, too." She commented lightly.
Maybe at the end of the day, company wasn't so bad. Polite talks and smiles was a quiet pleasure of hers. Happiness was a rare thing in her life, once she did have it, but it had been ripped away from her. But it's not like she decided to have it taken from her... it just... snapped. Like a thread being pulled by its last string, she couldn't find it in herself to find it again. "Do you uh... specialize in Western riding?" She murmured quietly, looking over politely. "God I sound like such a freak..." The thought passed her mind briefly but she pushed it away instead and simply kept smiling. "Your horse is thickly built... sorry if I assumed wrong." She kept her hands neatly placed on her knees as she turned her gaze once more to the horses who seemed to be enjoying the grass more than the free space. "Have you been here long?" She asked once more, voice low and non-intruding, polite as always. She kept a neutral look on her face, only the hint of a smile curling the corners of her lips upwards.

❝ every dog has his day ❞ Copious.
What a peculiar name she bore, her mother surely wished to make her child stand out from all the other people of the world. "My name is Eponine." She stated simply, introductions were a bit peculiar, weren't they? The woman mused to herself thoughtfully as she gazed on in silence at the pair of equines. Her cremello stallion seemed more interested in the blades of grass under his feet than the curious colt that approached him. A loud snort came from her stallion as he turned his hindquarters towards the pair of women and continued grazing, as though he was embarrassed from being the subject of their conversation.
The stranger-no Copious'- horse seemed younger than her own mount, curiosity seeming to still be his flaw. "What do you call him?" She asked curiously herself before her gaze flickered to her own equine companion. "He's registered as Just Say Pegasus, but I just call him Pegasus." It was cliche, but it worked. The ivory stallion flicked an ear in their general direction, as though he was acknowledging his owner's voice.
Eponine shrugged her shoulders at the woman's question, "Yes, I compete in barrel racing with him. He is fairly quick on his feet." She didn't know much about barrel racing personally, but it seemed as though her mount knew what he was doing out there in those arenas, so it was mostly up to him when it came to winning the races.
After a brief moment, Eponine patted a spot next to her in the grass. "I won't bite, I promise. That would be a bit repulsive." The woman sucked at telling jokes, but at least she was trying. "Oh I've been here for almost a year now. It's a fairly interesting place. Such strange people--er I didn't mean to offend you by that." She quickly corrected herself seeming to rise to some kind of internal panic.
Socializing was always something the woman wanted to do, but it almost seemed like she detoured people from talking to her after awhile because she was so strange in her ways. "Do you have anyone whom you think fondly of, Copious?" She asked curiously, thinking that it was something that human women often conversed about amongst one another.
Her heart drummed against her chest, causing her hand to flutter briefly to it half wondering if it was going to burst through her chest. "I've met the most wonderful man some time ago, Menelaus is his name." Her voice was laced with such an odd mixture of fondness, affectionate, pain and melancholy that it was hard to differentiate how she felt about the man. But in truth, she felt a special kind of love for the man, an emotion that she had only been willing to bestow upon him. It was a shame that their relationship was rather complicated at the moment in time. "Oh, I seem to delve too much in everyone's personal matters. My apologies, Copious." She apologized, ever so casually attempting to change the direction of the conversation.
It was almost as though she had never spoken of relationships in the first place. "And what of your lovely colt? What do you do with him in your spare time?" She asked curiously as she wrapped her arms lightly around her knees, pulling them in close to her chest. ❝ stranger things have happened ❞ @copious| 601 words | muse: one last time - ariana grande mail for joo

[attr="class","darkmoonycontainaki"] [attr="class","darkmoonybox"] [attr="class","darkmoonyakitextbox1"]Copious enjoyed the way the grass was warm and delightful, brushing against her ankles softly. She felt the sunlight shine against her skin, making it warm and comforting. Like a soft blanket wrapped around her. The thought made her eyes squint towards the sky before glancing to her new found companion. "My name is Eponine." She offered the tiniest of grins before nodding. "I-It's nice to meet y-you." She stated simply before looking to the pair of horses.
Smarty edged towards the older male, bright and shiny eyes looking at him curiously and with interest. He nudged his velvety nose against the stallion, the soft skin brushing against him very briefly. He released an excited nicker, ears perked forward. "What do you call him?" She glanced towards the woman before replying. "Uhm..... S-Smarty. He's n-new to m-me, but he's v-very s-sweet." She stated with a pleasant smile. "He's registered as Just Say Pegasus, but I just call him Pegasus." Eponine stated, making her eyes light up with an intrigued look to her eyes. "Pegasus. I-It's a n-nice name. H-He's very... h-handsome." She stated with a curt nod.
"Yes, I compete in barrel racing with him. He is fairly quick on his feet." She listened to her acquaintance quietly, the sound of buzzing bugs filling her senses for a moment. "He s-sounds lo-ovely." She replied politely. "I won't bite, I promise. That would be a bit repulsive." An amused smile widened her lips before she hesitantly sat down next to the blonde woman. "T-That's reassuring." She stated light-heartedly. "Oh I'e been here for almost a year now. It's a fairly interesting place. Such strange people--er I didn't mean to offend you by that." She shook her head. "N-Not at a-all. E-Everybody's just a-a li-ittle bit strange." She replied with a soft grin.
"Do you have anyone whom you think fondly of, Copious?" She blinked for a few seconds, pondering on the question before shaking her head. "N-No... I d-did at one point... B-But w-we parted ways." She replied, glancing away briefly. "I've met the most wonderful man some time ago, Menelaus is his name." Her eyes widened, everything seemingly becoming mute. The only sound she heard was the sound of her heart beating in her chest frantically. Bump bump. Bump bump. Bump bump. A lump formed in her throat as she stared ahead, yet she did not focus on anything, only seeing the fuzzy movement of creatures and plants moving ever so slightly. She didn't... She couldn't.... She couldn't of heard her right. It couldn't be so. He couldn't be here. She had tried so hard to get away, he... he couldn't. Fear slowly crept its way through the adrenaline, coursing through her blood, through her veins. His name ringed through her mind, her breath quickening as her heart raced with terror. He was here. He was near. And he was still very dear to her, but he was a threat. He was still preying on women out there. He was still picking his prey, always the predator at the top of the food chain.
Her gaze flickered to her very slowly. Her mouth moved but no sound came out. She stared at her in shock, horror, and concern. He was still out there. Worst, he was here. She had tried so hard to forget, and now it all came flooding back like a back dream. "And what of your lovely colt? What do you do with him in your spare time?" Her breath was hitched in her throat before a shaky and trembling hand pulled a strand of hair behind her ear. "U-Uhm... I-I let h-him graze a-and-d I play w-with him, I s-show hi-im." She couldn't keep herself composed. How could she? There was a monster lurking in the shadows, and he was going to hurt somebody. "E-Eponine, dear. W-We don't know e-each other v-very w-well. But.. quite some t-time a-ago I w-was in lo-ove with a man... he h-had been very k-kind a-and friendly a-at first. W-We grew u-up together, a-and I c-cared for him a-and h-he protected m-me. B-But.... he... he mu-urded his father after I h-had fini-ished College. And... h-he... h-he began t-to... ab-buse me." Every word. Every sentenced. Anything that cam out of her mouth only further scared her. Further awakened her memories. She couldn't shake them away. Her pupils dilated as she stared at the blonde woman's face. "I h-had to l-leave. I d-didn't know that h-he w-was s-still here. I tho-ought he was... gone." Tears formed in her eyes, her frame starting to shake and tremble with fury, sadness, distraught, distress. "His n-name was.. M-Menelaus." She stated before a sob wracked her body, slowly shifting away from her. "I-I'm s-sorry... I..." She couldn't squeeze any words out. She couldn't keep talking, her vocals tightening with a painful ache. Pain demands to be felt.

❝ every dog has his day ❞ A simple nod was given in acknowledgement of the woman's words. "Same to you, Copious." She spoke calmly, her gaze shifting to the two stallions that appeared to be getting along quite well. She watched her own stallion snort loudly, as though blowing off the friendliness of the younger horse. Such a stubborn creature. She thought to herself, but a playful smile was playing at the corners of her mouth.
The woman was a bit lost in her thoughts for a good long while, bits and pieces of her new acquantice's words floated in and out of her head, sensing nothing relevant to dwell into further. It was nice, however, to have another living being to share company with. It only made her feel more like a human being, instead of..what she was in truth. "I'd hope it would be reassuring." She giggled quietly, "I'm not much for the consumption of flesh, especially not those of hu-... people." It was the first time she had bothered to catch herself from using the term human so frequently. She was different, but she really didn't want to be looked at as the odd one out, the black sheep of the flock.
But the black sheep could never really lose it's color, now could it?
Hearing that the woman had parted ways with someone she had thought fondly of, Eponine reached out and grabbed the woman's shoulder gently. "My apologies, Copious. I assume that there is a reason for everything, no? A new path always opens for the one who allows other doors to open." She stated quietly, and was prepared to leave the subject at that.
She thought nothing else of it, she was oblivious to the mental and emotional turmoil that was churning within the girl's existence, she gave no hint to it, but Eponine had to admit, the atmosphere did feel a bit tense. The blond woman was eager to get started on the subject of horses, as they were lovely creatures, but it appeared as though Copious wished to take a more melancholic route.
Willing to lend an ear, she shifted her aqua gaze to the woman, listening intently without speaking a single word. "Is that so?" She asked, not at all seeming surprised by the fact. Humans were monsters, nothing that they did surprised Eponine nowadays, they acted out of their own selfish desires. No one was perfect, and the world was full of violence, lies and sin, so why make a big deal out of it?
However, as the name of the one her heart called her own, she got to her feet. How could this woman expect to be able to handle someone such as Menelaus? The woman flinched lightly as sobs racked the woman's frame, she didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to say, but oddly enough she wasn't sure if she felt sympathy for the woman. "I have accepted Menelaus' ways." Surely they were talking of the same man, who else would bear such a name? "I see nothing wrong in what he does, there is a justified reason behind such. At least he does not hide behind his emotions, like a coward. If anyone can handle the likes of Menelaus, I believe it would be me." She breathed, although she as not angry, perhaps confused if anything.
She did, however, hold out a hand as an offer to help the woman to her feet. "It is not like I can handle my own." She murmured quietly as she reached to remove the tears from the woman's cheeks. "Fear is but weakness of the mind, Copious. I do not fear, I love Menelaus for who he is, and I do not fear him." She spoke with a certain confidence, a certain air of sureness.
