❝ in-ˈsi-dē-əs ❞ This was it, she was going to conquer her greatest fear and finally be free of the heavy shackles that had been been clinging to her heart and mind for years on end.
If she had the nerve to kiss a complete stranger as she had done Chase, surely she had enough courage to confront the likes of her worst and only enemy? Her unwavering nightmare that haunted her with every breath she took within each day and night. With steady hands and feet she got out of her small car and looked towards the bright, neon lights of the PUZZLES NIGHT CLUB sign.
Night had only just fallen, but the dark didn't frighten her, at least she didn't think so. Not yet anyway. "I'm going to end it, I'm going to get rid of my fears." She murmured under her breath as she stepped inside of the club, almost wanting to change her mind at the loud hustle and bustle of blaring music, and the jolly jeers of drunken men and women.
She caught sight of the women who threw all shits to the wind in order to dance around a pole for an extra five dollars every now and again, barely scraping enough together to pay for rent. The slender woman turned and looked to a burly, or rather beefy, man that stood near the entrance with his arms crossed. "E-excuse me, I'm looking for Dallas Petrov. Family matters." She stated quickly, trying to hurry and finish her sentence so that she wouldn't trip over her words and completely fail her so called mission.
The bouncer simply gave a brisk nod before disappearing into the crowd, not even bothered by the mass of people crowded into one place. It seemed like she waited seventy two hours for the man's return even though it was merely ten minutes. "Says she'll see you in her office, to talk in private. This..this is perfect I can get her alone and..this should be okay. I think. The woman thought to herself nervously as she dragged her feet behind the burly man who led her down a back door which led to a string of hallways.
He didn't bother to knock on the wooden door that was nestled into the wall, he simply folded his arms again and gestured for the woman to go again. No thank you was given from Sienna as she had her serious face on, as though it would make her look more..well..tough. When she had closed the door behind her, the bouncer casually locked the door form the outside, slipping the key underneath the door, as ordered from his boss, Dallas, herself. The corrupted business owner had many of her bouncers trained to do dirty jobs, and so long as they got good pay, they didn't care what they were asked to do, and none went to the police. Why should they when they were getting paid so well?
Sienna didn't hear the door lock as she stepped forward and settled her eyes on the woman whom had been the source of her pain and fears over the last couple of years. "Dallas." She almost choked on her words, why had her mouth gone dry? Why were her hands shaking? With nervous movements she reached into her back pocket and retrieved a pocket knife, her weapon of choice to try and get vengeance on Dallas for the torture she had caused her to bear over the years. "You..y-y-you...y-you r-ruined m-m-m-my life..D-d-d..." Her stammer was near unbearable at this point, her heart drummed within her chest and she felt as though she was on the verge of a panic attack.
No..no keep it together. I came here for a reason. She thought, but self-talk wasn't easing her nerves. With clumsy steps she lunged forward in an attempt to drive the tiny dull knife towards any part on the dark haired woman, not wasting any more time for this was her one and only chance to gain revenge for years of torture from a loss friend.

back away from the water babe you might drown
The music pounded behind her office door and reverberated up through her stiletto as she perched at her desk in wait. The beat was good this night and provided the dancers with plenty enough inspiration to get the job done properly. Each little vibration and flash of light satisfied her to no end, for all she could see were dollar bills in her hand. The meticulously managed business was booming…. Although she was not watching the show this night. She had other plans.
It’d been so long the woman had nearly forgotten about the situation with Sienna, but luckily she was smarter than that. She could not forget the clumsy accident in her past, a clever monster such as herself had always taken pride in learning from her mistakes and Sienna was one of the biggest. She’d failed to complete her task seven years before and she was about to discover the consequences for those actions. Dallas was not one to worry about much of anything but this, facing this woman, had her proceeding with a little bit of caution.
The woman sat back in her plush computer chair and listened to the going-on’s of her surroundings as she finished random bits of paperwork that littered her desk; unfortunately for her Asher’s absence meant she actually had to work. One could say she was even a bit on edge this day, absently and impatiently drumming her pen along the surface of the table and glancing at the door when someone passed. She wanted this done and over with so she could move on with her life and stored away in darkness of her mind. Scared for Sienna’s probable revenge? She could count the things she was afraid of on about three fingers and a broken woman with PTSD was, unfortunately, not one of them.
She was downright chuffed at the opportunity to finish what she had started. And how lovely it was to see that the woman was going to hand herself over on a silver platter? It was not often that her toys escaped her but when they did they ended up just like… well, Sienna. If it was up to her it was only humane to put them down after what she’d done.
Dallas paused as shadows passed under the door frame and she lightly set down her pen to study the door as it opened. What would the woman look like after so many years? What was the extent of the damage? This opportunity was one that didn’t come along very often; she was almost curious to see the product of her ‘work’ several years on. The blonde stepped into view and mixture of utter loathing and even a bit of nostalgia settled in her gut, but she did not move an inch until she heard the familiar lock of the door.
The brunette smiled inwardly. This was her territory, her kingdom. She knew it like the back of her hand and then some. The woman was a damn fool to approach her with… what, a knife? The building was teeming with bouncers that would jump to her aid with so little as a call. And then there was the woman’s stammer. She put on a show but the fear was evident in her timid voice. Oh how she could use her power in this situation. But that would come with time.
Searing pain met her shoulder before she had the chance to even acknowledge the other woman’s existence. “Fuck,” She took in a sharp breath and rose from her chair in order to duck and evade the other’s jabs. Once out of arms-length she took half a second to acknowledge her new wound to add to the growing collection of scars. “That’s going to leave a mark.” Her eyes flashed with minute amounts of fury as she sent the woman a nasty glare… and then the lights went out.
She silently and easily slipped from around her desk as her pupils grew wide in the unyielding blackness. “So nice to see you too, Si.” She purred, a smile stretching across her features although camouflaged in her own shadow. “This is how you greet an old friend?” The woman tutted disapprovingly and stalked about the office quietly, surveying her prey from every possible angle. Her voice echoed through the enclosed room and she allowed it to be the only deciphering factor behind her location. “You haven’t changed a bit, love.” She was pleased with the sight that met her black eyes. The memories came flooding back, the good bad and ugly, and soon she almost had a longing for those moments. “Mmmm, perhaps a bit more gumption than the last time I saw you but nonetheless still very much… you.”
Although Dallas’ power was limited in this case and she knew it. The moment the other remembered her own abilities was the moment her camouflage would be of no use; and she was not about to see that happen. The woman appeared inches from Sienna’s own form, close enough to smell the woman’s shampoo in her hair. Dallas took it upon herself to grab the wrist that held the knife before the blonde began to swing it at her again. “Do you know how easy it would be for me to hurt you right now?” Her voice grew quiet as she hovered so entirely close to the woman’s ear.
“Luckily I’m better than that now.” She released her hold on the woman, reappearing behind her desk as she allowed the light back into the room. “I didn’t bring you here so you could sit here and attempt to harm me, Sienna.” Was that hurt in her tone, or was she just blatantly bullshitting this poor woman? Her face fell with an easily mocked emotion. “You’ve got your revenge,” She gestured towards her throbbing and bleeding shoulder, “Now all I ask is a bit of your time.”

❝ in-ˈsi-dē-əs ❞ She had always been afraid of the dark, terrified of the empty shadows that robbed people of their sight. It was within the darkness that a person realized their deepest fears, it was where the most terrible freaks came out on the prowl, looking for something to entertain them. She had long since forgotten of her ability to manipulate light, but even if she did remember her ability, it would have been proven useless for light could not be found in the darkest shadows.
A small feeling of satisfaction and guilt came upon her when she felt that the small knife she clutched in her hand had actually punctured the woman's flesh. To her surprise, however, it didn't kill the woman. But of course, how could something so small do something so large? On top of that, the nervous woman could never bring herself to kill someone, to take a life and live with the burden for the rest of eternity.
Her fearful gaze met with the club owner's glare, but before she could flee the lights went out, coating the room in eternal darkness. A certain fear gripped her heart as it raced within her chest. Trembling hands fumbled for nothing as she tried to figure out where the woman might be, what she might be trying to do next.
Sienna didn't remember any good times with Dallas, only the bad and the ugly. Was the dark haired woman even capable of doing anything good? Had she always been a bit insane? "An o-old friend? F-f-friends don't run e-each other's lives." She stammered, her voice trembling along with her hands.
It was then that she felt the other woman's breath on her neck obviously too close for comfort. A frightened gasp left her mouth as she felt the woman's hand clasp around the wrist that held her only method for defense. Out of shock, she lost her grip on the pocket knife listening with fear as she heard it collide with the floor underfoot. "N-never stopped you in the p-past." She stammered as she yanked on her wrist, before she twisted her entire body as she felt the woman's voice dangerously close to her ear.
Why was Dallas so deranged? Why? What made anyone less than normal, dysfunctional in society? As the shadows evaporated from the room, the blond woman felt a sense of safety. The light comforted her, here she wasn't blinded by the empty darknesses of one's heart. She scrambled backwards until her back was against the wall, her bright blue gaze shifting to study the woman who had returned behind her work desk.
A frown pulled at the woman's lips as she registered the comment. "Y-you didn't b-b-b...bring me here at all. I c-came to pay you back for a-all the years of t-t-orture." For ruining her life, for instilling a permanent fear of life's pleasures within her heart. Living a life in total fear was a thousand times worse than what death could ever give. At least with death it was a release from life's troubles, Sienna no longer enjoyed the mad run from birth to death in the face of life thanks to Dallas Petrov.
A bit of her time? Sienna found herself mildly interested in what the woman had to say, as gullible as ever. That kind of behavior was what typically landed her in trouble in the first place. Young and gullible, she was the stereotypical woman that so many feminists denied existed. "W-what...do you want?" If she was in her right of mind, she would have tried to run. But everyone knew that once you got into a spider's web, she wasn't going to let you go for dinner was served on a silver platter.

back away from the water babe you might drown
She was amused by the womans outright fear. So much in fact it was all she could do to keep from grinning at the sight of having the little bitch in her grasp again. It had been a long time coming, and she’d nearly forgotten what it was like to have this woman in particular under her thumb. It was not every day an obsession came along such as what she once had with this woman, and what she now felt developing towards her asshole coworker. But now, watching the trembling woman she felt her nostalgia grow with every passing second. Those days were clumsy and disorganized, and although she did not think fondly of them in most cases there was something about this blonde that made her want to change her mind in general.
Dallas tilted her head curiously at the thought, eyes set on the woman’s body as the light came back into the room and she settled into her plush computer chair. She was hot and cold, this woman, two seconds before she had blatantly threatened Sienna but now looked ever so comfortable as she propped her toned calves on her desk. Her bleeding shoulder throbbed like hell but she was right in the middle of a game of chess and didn’t want to take her mind off the end goal. Checkmate.
There was something so very empowering about having an eye on the prey when they were incapable of seeing back, something that made the sadistic woman’s skin tingle with adrenaline. But she had to put on her front, play nice. Quite honestly she wasn’t certain of her bouncer’s loyalty or morality, who was to say they wouldn’t come and bust the door down when they heard the other scream? Damn heroes, always trying to ruin the fun. She had to be careful and play her cards correctly. Reclining in her chair casually she twirled a lock of her hair.
Distaste filled her, mostly due to the anxiety the other woman threw out so vibrantly. It was hard to read the others thoughts when so much filled her mind, so many worries. Soon the woman’s own head began to hurt from the confusion of it so she quickly reverted to the depths of her own mind. “Now, now. I could hardly say torture. That’s a bit extreme, even for you, Sienna. You know, some people get off on the shit I put you through. Hmm, I could even say I used to. Granted, I was quite disturbed back in those days.” She smiled knowingly, dropped her legs to the floor and leaned forward, resting her elbows on the desks surface. “Emphasis on was.” Her lips pursed now as she focused on the woman, feeling her pupils recede in the light and made way to her more, human irises.
She changed the topic rather easily, perhaps just inadvertently drawing out the poor woman’s anxiety. “Sit, Sienna, please…you’re making me anxious with all that hovering. My home is your home.. I at least owe you that. Care for some wine? ” She sighed deeply and rose from her seat slowly so as to not startle the woman further. Making her way to the back of the office she pulled a bottle of wine and two glasses from the cabinet before returning to her chair. The blonde would be a fool to drink anything given to her by Dallas, and the woman immediately acknowledged it. “It’s not going to bite.” She raised the sealed bottle of alcohol and gestured to it pointedly before removing the cork and pouring two glasses. She took the first sip, pushing the other glass towards the blonde, then sitting back again and refocusing her attention. “See, safe.”
Was she even going to get to a point or was the brunette dead set on wasting her life staring at Sienna for the rest of the night? She cleared her throat now and lightly swirled her drink around in its containment. “Thank you for giving me a chance, however small of one.” She began as a frown touched her pretty features. “I guess I just wanted to apologize for all the shit. I know my word means nothing to you, it’s the gestures that count… But that’s why I’m still sitting in front of you even after you…what, were you trying to kill me?” She glanced down at her arm disapprovingly and raised an eyebrow. “I haven’t done anything to make you want to do otherwise, but I can say the old me wouldn’t have taken getting stabbed very fondly.” She was rather good at playing the guilt card, even if the only feeling riding her at this current moment was a strange lust for the timid woman. Her nose wrinkled and she took a sip of her red wine to cover it. As she swallowed she sat the glass down tenderly. “Do you not remember all the fun we had, Sienna? All of the sleepovers and late movie nights?” Her voice fell ever so slightly. “We can be like that again, before the bad.”
note; sorry. ♡
