Essential Information
Appearance:
Sebastian is far from a snappy dresser, though he is eye catching, to say the least. Growing up in New York City, meant he was exposed to a lot of fashion. Growing up with a tuxedo cat never far behind meant that he was exposed to a lot of strange looks. So Bastian learned to hide, in hoodies, and in dark colors. His normal get up is a dark green hoodie, the strings have long been taken off, and the cuffs are stretched and tattered from been rolled and unrolled, and fiddled with. This is pairs with dark wash jeans, the bottom hem dragging across the floor. But even hidden in those clothes Seb is close to the average of beauty. His smooth caramel skin is stretched over a symmetrical face with high cheek bones, and a jaw that can only be defined as chiseled. His dark eyes peer out from under a high forehead and thick eyebrows. One thing that kept him sane though his formative years, was jogging, his muscles have not lost the definition that they gained as a teenager. This body did not go unmarked. His left thigh holds a paw print, inked on to him when he turned 20. And a wide scar cuts across his back, the skin is not raised, the scar just sits there cutting from his right shoulder to his spine.
Personality:
[loner]
Bastian has never been one to get in the mix of a big crowd, he prefers the outskirts, and the edges to the middle of a group. Sure he has friends, but not a best friend, unless you're counting Sea. Who is the opposite of his human counterpart, always trying to grab the attention away from everyone. Sebastian just likes to be alone, alone with Sea. He doesn't feel anxious or worried when he is allowed to be his true self. Something that he is still learning is ok to share here.
[stubborn]
This is the only trait that is shared with his feline counterpart. They are both stubborn. Seb is forever dragging his heels when it comes to anything, trying to find a way out of things, just because. He is very quick to judge and once the judgment is made it's hard to get him to see the other side of the coin, so to speak.
[anxious]
Sebastian's anxiety steams from his childhood. He is always nervous now. Even when he has Sea around he must always be fiddling with something. Which is why his fingernails are chewed down and the hem of every sweatshirts' cuffs are in tatters. Sea hates to be the object of the fiddling so he stays well out of the way of his counterpart's hands when he gets anxious. even little things set him onto anxious melt downs, like people changing the restaurant at the last minute, or making a phone call.
[romantic]
Even though the nerves and the awkwardness, Seb is quite the romantic. He always falls to hard and too fast. He often find himself on the end of a very short leash that a not to nice girl has a hold of. He wants love to be simple. Easy as him and Sea. But no one can really fill the space of his companion for life. Even though Seb looks for her, he rarely ends up in a good spot with women.
[quiet]
It's a given that a boy with a cat is going to be a little quiet. Sebastian is the star of introverted world. He does not talk much, but he thinks a lot. But getting him to share those thoughts is like pulling teeth. He never talks much, even around people he's known forever. He was never told his ideas were important enough, well except by Sea who gets to hear all of everything that's in Seb's head, and so he stays quiet. Bastian would rather people talk to him than over him, so he just stays quiet.
History:
"My childhood was-- well... it was mine
Sebastian was born to two normal people, in their normal New York apartment, in New York City. For the first two years he was perfectly normal. Their perfectly happy, normal, beautiful baby boy. That was until he turned two years old. The morning of his birthday his parents woke up to find a small black and white kitten in his crib. The two were curled up together sleeping soundly. Neither adult could figure out why, or how, the kitten was there. Even though their son whimpered as they removed the kitten from this arms, they took it to the closest shelter and headed back home. The next morning the kitten was back, and this time their perfect son sobbed as they took away the kitten for the second time. After a week of this the parents decided to let the kitten stay.
Everything was fine, until school started. First day of school, Bastian was dressed to the nines, and his kitten was perched on his shoulder ready to take on the day. He screamed every time his parents had tried to remove the kitten so they had just left it-- newly christened Sea-- for the teachers to deal with. And that's when Sebastian first heard that awful sentence that sent his life spiraling into an anxious puddle. "Well now, Mr. Ross, school is no place for a pet." Then the cat was removed and taken to the principal's office to await the reluctant parents. This was his life through elementary and middle school. He'd start the day with Sea at his side, then a teacher would take Sea away. He'd become a wreak. The once happy child reduced to a bundle of nerves. It even got to the point where they would put the cat outside, knowing it wouldn't leave until Seb got out of school. So every day Seb would stare out the window at his cat, outside on the New York City sidewalk, waiting for him.
That's when the doctor's visits started. His parents wanted to know why he was so nervous all the time? Wanted to know, why he needed this cat? Why had he suddenly become so anxious? They would conduct their own experiments. Some days they would let Seb and Sea stay happily together. Other days they would take the yowling cat and hide him in the closet of some neighbor's apartment, watching their son wail and pace the rooms looking for his playmate.
At the end of eight grade they finally found a doctor who would sign a magic piece of paper that stated that Sea was an emotional support animal and needed to travel with Sebastian at all times.
"They told me 'high school is the best
time of your life' well they were wrong"
Sebastian thought that things would get better, now that his companion was allowed to stay by his side. But high school and hormones got in the way of his happiness. High school is where he became their weird cat kid, the guy who always had a cat around him. Some weirdo with mental problems so bad that he needed a cat to hand out with because people wren't enough for him. While the few friends he had in middle school assimilated to high school, made better friends, and met girls; Seb seemed to stay stuck.
He that's when he hated Sea, in the way you hate a younger brother. He was torn. In two, almost completely. His whole self told him that staying near Sea was the best thing for him. Plus, Sea was basically his only friend. Though how could explain to his parents that he wasn't just talking to Sea, that Sea was talking back. And so was the Smith's puppy, and the Donaldson's bird? He felt crazy. So he tried to run away from it all.
That's when he picked up jogging, which became joining the track team. Even though he was still the weird cat guy, he could outrun his problems. Many nights he'd slip out of his room while Sea was asleep and go for a run. But the cat always showed up. "Stop thinking you can outrun me" and he'd trot along after his companion, as Sebastian huffed away through the night.
That's when girls started to notice him, when he bulked up, when he was winning races. Though the quiet awkwardness, and the cat he still managed to date a few girls in high school. Not nice girls, not girls that treated him with any shred of kindness. He was strictly arm candy. Weird arm candy that they caught talking to his cat, and other animals. Relationships never lasted very long, even though Seb threw himself in wholeheartedly.
That's when it dawned on him that someone else had to be like him, someone else out there had to talk to animals, had to have an animal with them at all times. That's when he went online. Tried to find a name for himself, or find something like him. He stumbled upon a website called SpitiusConnetion.net it was mostly just phonies. People who said they could understand what animals were thinking. Well that was until Seb messaged a woman named Kaey. She was 65 and had the lifelong companionship of a jack russel named Beth. Sebastian was over joyed, there was someone out there like him. Someone who could understand what he was talking about.
Even though she lived in New York state she was a shut in and the two never met. But during his graduation from high school Kaey made Seb promise her something. To find more like them, and to tell her about it one day.
"We got sick of the big city, and
somehow we landed here"
Armed with his high school diploma, a cat, an old rust bucket of a car, and everything he owned in two suit cases Seb, and Sea, headed out of New York City. He didn't know exactly what he was looking for, but he wasn't going to find it waiting tables at the restaurant down the street. So they set out across the US. Trying to find a town where they could be themselves. It took a few tries, and hundreds of dollars in gas, but he finally settled in Aurora, CA. It's been a few months now. Still just waiting tables. But it hasn't sunk in that here he's safe, that Sea is safe. That no one will ridicule him-- because let's be honest he's not the weirdest thing here. He's not completely settled-- he still gets nervous that people are going to make him leave Sea outside, or ask him to go because of the cat-- and he still hasn't emailed Kaey. Maybe when this place feels more like home he'll tell her he found it, he found what she'd been looking for.
