Essential Information
Spiritus Name:Rory
Spiritus Species: Red Fox
Spiritus Description: Rory is an average looking red fox. She is about 30 pounds and knee high to Meara. Her coat is the beautiful red-brown that is typical for a red fox, with black legs and a cream underbelly. Her muzzle and chin are cream as well. Rory has topaz eyes that gleam like gems. Rory is quite the opposite personality as Meara. The little fox is outgoing, rambunctious, and spontaneous. She is not afraid to speak her mind, stand her ground or say it how it is. Often, this embarrasses Meara. As expected, Rory is also very protective over Meara and can be quite vicious if provoked. Overall, however, Rory is fun-loving and more interested in a good adventure than a fight. She also believes it is her job to push Meara and encourage her to pursue her dreams. Rory doesn’t always understand why Meara wants to hide her, but will comply to her demands out of her love for the girl. It is Rory’s hope that in a new home they can both start fresh and there will no longer be any hiding.
Appearance: Meara is 5'1" and of athletic build. She is slender, but has broad shoulders from working on her family farm her whole life and is rather muscular. She has red, curly hair that falls to about mid back. While it looks thick because of the curls, it is actually quite fine and thin. Meara has dark eyebrows, which often causes people to mistake her hair for being dyed, which it is not. Her eyes are a grey/blue shade. She has fair complexion, which is typical of her Irish decent. Meara has a beauty mark (aka mole) on the corner of her nostril on the right side of her face. She does have some freckling on her nose, but it mostly only comes out in the sunlight. Meara is comfortable in jeans and a teeshirt just as much as a nice dress. Typically she wears natural colors such as browns, tans, olives, and blues. She isn’t afraid of getting dirty, but isn’t afraid of dressing up either.
Personality: Meara is a more of a quiet, introverted type. She rather observe what is going on around her than be the center of attention. Do not mistake Meara for being shy, however, as she is not afraid to strike up or hold a conversation with someone. She just isn’t one to initiate as often. Meara is not afraid of being in front of people, and is accustomed to teaching riding lessons, or speaking on things she is passionate about… which she can be VERY passionate when there is something she cares deeply about. Despite the calm, cool and collected girl she usually is, if you get her riled up she will show her fiery red-head temperament. Meara is very indecisive and cannot make a decision on the spot. She is also a people pleaser to a fault, and will put others needs before herself even if it is at her own cost. Meara is afraid she may not fit in with the fast-paced lifestyle of California after having a slower country lifestyle in Ireland.
History: Meara was born and raised in County Cork, Ireland on her family’s small farm. She grew up working hard around the farm since she was able. They had mainly sheep, some dairy cattle, chickens and a few large work horses for in case the tractors will not work. Meara took to the horses immediately, despite her not having time to work with them. Between school and farm chores, Meara turned the draft plow horses into riding horses. Everything she learned about riding was self-taught. Eventually her father saw her talent, and traded some sheep for a proper horse. Despite it being an older, worn-out lesson horse looking for retirement, Meara made the most out of it. By high school, she was teaching riding lessons to little kids on the weekends. She grew to love how horses spoke to children in ways no person could, and saw the value of horses in healing and emotional health to those in need. Meara desired to expand on this passion and decided to move to the states in hopes of using her passion and talents somewhere more populated and that would receive it better - It landed her in sunny California. Having ridden English most of her life, Meara decided to seek the exciting “cowboy” lifestyle of Western riding. She took to it immediately, and saw the foundations of the two disciplines were similar. She is hoping to use the more laid-back feel and safety of the Western to better reach beginner and young riders in lessons. She also cannot wait to learn the more fast-paced aspects of Western from those around her. Meara feels a little bit like a fish out of water… but is willing to learn the ways of California.
