I USED TO TRUST THE MEDIA TO TELL ME THE TRUTH
PERSONALITY Witty and quick, his mouth tends to get him into all kinds of trouble. Connor is a smart-ass to a great many people. He never really knows when to turn it off, and it always comes back to bite him in the ass. He s a self-made loner, cutting himself off from most people by plain instinct. Connor has had trust issues all of his life and holds most people at arm’s-length. It takes a lot for him to let someone into his life, even more for him to keep them there. Despite his solo mindset though, he does feel the need to help people, especially women. He is extremely chivalrous, almost to the point of chauvinism. He tends to get in over his head when a girl gets in trouble. To say that Connor is quiet is an understatement though. He generally tries to keep to himself despite his mouth, only piping up when he feels the need to or when he's spoken to. He keeps himself busy working, but finds solace in keeping his body in shape, and always, always learning. He loves to read, and has lengthy conversations with Leo on a daily basis | LIKES Summer Night Apples Fire Being warm Cats Books Machines Physics Nature Hiking Rock-Climbing DISLIKES Churches Large Crowds Bullies Cauliflower Spiders Being Cold Getting Cold Sow Mornings Mornings without coffee | APPEARANCE Connor is a lithe and wry young adult in his early 20's. His brown hair is typically shaved short, but he lets it grow shaggy now and then, as with is facial hair. He is lightly muscled, all lean limbs and long muscles. He stands around 5'8", which is smaller than most men, but Connor doesn’t mind. He has built himself for endurance, speed and strength, all things that his chosen profession need. Who ever heard of a chubby Park Ranger? Connor dresses very practically, with sturdy and comfortable hiking boots and well-fitting clothes. He wears dark cargo pants or jeans and loose fitting long-sleeved shirts when he is not in uniform. He has a thigh-length black pea coat for when the weather turns sour, but he often takes it off. He has a pair of fitted leather gloves tucked in his pocket sometimes in case he feels the need to climb. |

BUT NOW I'VE SEEN THE PAY-OFFS EVERYWHERE I LOOK
HISTORY
Connor was not born an orphan, but who is, really? Somewhere he has a mother, or had a mother, but Connor doesn't know her, hasn't known her, and honestly has no burning desire to meet her. At this stage in his life, he has accepted that he is an orphan, meeting his biological parents isn't going to change that.
He was found on a bus bench outside the Austin DART train. From there he was taken to the Catholic orphanage and that's where he stayed. His childhood, despite its ridiculously tragic beginnings, was not all bad. After all, most kids only pretend to have an animal companion. The Sisters at the orphanage took care of Connor, and their constantly changing staff made things always interesting, but they couldn’t always be there to help him when trouble arose.
Connor was 8 when he got into his first fight concerning the harm of a weaker creature. The three boys who had cornered him where 13. He had made some wise-ass remark to one of them concerning the size of their heads in proportion to their brains when he found them trying to smoke out a family of squirrels in a tree in the courtyard. They didn’t take too kindly to it and found the need to voice their complaints by way of introducing their boots to Connor’s kidneys. They didn’t stop when he hit the ground, or when he curled up into a ball to try and protect himself.
They did stop, however, when a full-grown adult white lion hurdled a fence and stood over him.
Who could blame the sisters for not believing a few trouble making boys? I mean, honestly, even if a lion had been in the yard, where could it have gone to so quickly?
Connor knew. So did Leo as he sat in the young boy’s pocket inside of a piece of obsidian.
The only constant in Connor's life has been Leo. The lion always made sure to keep an eye on Connor (which was a chore most days) and spoke to him like he was an adult, which Connor liked. Sure, he might have gotten into trouble here and there, and yeah, he had a habit of skipping school to roam with his spirit, but on the whole, Connor was a normal, well intentioned kid.
Connor was able to graduate high school, and even get enough further education to get an internship at a local park. By the time he was 22, Connor had his pick of National Parks around the country. He chose California, mostly for the Redwoods, but also for the space. After all, he and his friend would need the privacy every now and then.
