Lyrics/heading/epigraphs or title of the thread goes here. Ellie May Harper The abrupt sound of something solid smacking into metal jarred the women awake, almost made her jump out of her skin. It took her a moment to realize where she was and why she was there. From beside her came a long lazy grunt as her companion rolled onto his side, looking to her, then sighing. Her blue eyes looked down to the faithful dog and grinned, reaching over and stroking the dogs face gently.
"I know, but soon we will have a home to settle into, but first we gotta....... wait.... We gotta get to the farm... We have an hour before I'm set to meet with the owner," panic set in as her mind began to piece her thoughts back together.
She had pulled over for a power nap and ended up sleeping longer then needed, luckily the irritated stallion in the trailer decided to wake her. Sitting up she turned on the ignition, firing up the 2nd generation dodge cummins and pulling back onto the road. Grabbing the map from her dash she put it in her map, using her left hand to steer and her right hand worked overtime, to shift and fallow the map to where she was going. She did her best to drive quickly, but also to make sure she wasn't upsetting her horse more. She wasn't familiar with this area, but she was fallowing some sort of gut feeling she got when her eyes crossed over the ad. Something pulled her to this place and the southern belle didn't know why, but she was ready to find out.
As she drove her thoughts crossed back to the conversation last night with her brother on the phone. His circuit was soon over and he would be driving to join her here if she ended up liking it. This farm had a lot of openings yet and he was now ready to take a break from the rodeo. She was glad she went with him, leaving the family pack as her other brother stepped up to take over. She didn't like how he ran things and wouldn't stand to be under his command. If her father would have continued to be in charge she would have stayed back home, but things never worked out how she wanted them to.
Sighing she turned the radio on the drown out her thoughts and to help her focus on the task at hand. By the looks of it the farms were not that far away giving her plenty of time to be early like any working person should. She was hoping that she could board Thunder at this place, she doubted that she would be able to find a place with enough room for him. Cash, her coonhound, would be staying with her because it wouldn't be difficult to buy a place that she could have a dog. Cash was attached to her, something that was common with both the wolf and herself. Cash was a great hunting partner to the wolf and also a friend of the wolf's.
Pulling into the driveway she slowed down taking it easy as she pulled up to the barn and turning off her vehicle. She rolled the windows down before she got out and walked back to the trailer. Peeking in to check on her horse, which snorted at her when he noticed her. She moved around the other side of the trailer before looking around, blue eyes scanning for the owner of this place.

A true outlaw finds the balance between the passion in his heart and the reason in his mind. That outcome is the balance of might and right. There was no more time with thing leaving his mare in a stall or out in the pasture. It was time for her to get some miles on her while she was here. Looking over the mare with a smile on his face as he leaned against the fence to the pasture that she was placed in. Sending a whistle into her direction and calling out her name. "Come on darlin' let's get some work done." He commented out loud towards her as she seemed to trot over towards her. Grinning as he grabbed onto the lead rope he laid over the fence and started over to the gate Listening to her nicker as she came closer and closer to where he was. Clipping on the lead rope after opening the gate and then swinging it all the way open. Leading her up to the barn and tying her up to one of the tie up post that was on the inside of the barn. Taking in a deep breath as he was ready for a relaxing ride and just a fun moment with this beautiful mare.
Handing quickly going to work as he brushed down the mare so that she was ready to ride. Watching as she would shift around a bit excited like since he guessed that she was at the adoption center for such a long time that he knew that she was ready to go out and about again. Moving as he took one of his western saddles and put it over her back side. He was not one to go straight into putting a English saddle on her back until he knew just how she acted. After everything had been tightened just right. He slipped the reins over her neck and slipped the halter off of her face till it hung close to the ground and then he slowly began to put the bridle over her face. Happy that she did not try to throw her head up or anything but so far she was checking in to be a good horse. Now it was to see how she would act out in the ring that was nearby.
Moving as he slipped one of the slipped reins from over her neck and led her towards the lesson ring. Leading her slowly in and shutting the gate behind them. Latching it closed and then looking back to Lily with a smile as he patted her neck gently. "Ready?" He questioned her out loud as he put the reins back over her neck as he stood to her side and then slowly made a move to slip his foot into the stirrup and she wanted to step away but she didn't. He smiled to himself as he put his foot in and made his way onto her back and sat there for a moment before letting her take a couple steps forwards for a moment before making her stop and slip his other foot into the other stirrup.
He then began to ask her to walk forwards. Feeling the decent walk that she had going. His eyes looking down for a moment as he reached out one hand and touched the top of her head between her ears to see what she would do about his weight shifting and then leaned back and touched just at the top of his tail. Smiling as she continued on moving. Then as time went on and they continued to ride around something caught his ears. Looking up and over to see the sight of someone pulling into the parking lot. Smiling as he knew just who it was as she came out of the truck and was looking around.
Turning Lily over towards the gate to see if he could open the gate while he was on her. Sure enough she did give a bit of trouble, but he was able to open the gate up and walk her right out of it. Heading up towards the truck that had a trailer behind it. Looking over the girl and taking in a deep breath to see that she was a bit different herself. Smiling as he pushed it away to introduce himself to the girl. "Hello. Can I help you with something? I'm Dimitri, owner of this fine farm." He spoke as he looked over towards the girl. Wondering just what she might say towards him as he spoke to her. Feeling Lily halt and still want to move but she stood there like a good girl as he waited to see just what she might say towards him. |
