WHEN I'M FUCKED UP THAT'S THE REAL ME, KEEP TRYNA HIDE IT BUT THEY KNOW READ BETWEEN THE LINES I ONLY CALL YOU WHEN IT'S HALF PAST FIVE, I ONLY LOVE IT WHEN YOU TOUCH ME
| The dull smell of printer paper had began to fade from her senses as the day wore on. It had been nearly eight thirty in the morning when she had stepped into the office, overdressed when compared to the others that burnt out their souls in the hole in the wall. She always seemed to come to work a dress that was just a tad bit too tight, and heels that looked just about ready to emasculate. Red had been her color of choice that morning, the sexiest color they often said.
Not that she gave two shits, she could make any color work. It was nearly five in the evening at this point in time and it looked as though some writers were collecting their things. Nine times out of ten, they were in a hurry to race home to their pitiful families, after all they were probably the main meal ticket.
Adelia didn't move from her seat, however, she simply crossed her legs in her workspace and continued strumming painted nails on the keys of the keyboard. Microsoft Word seemed to want to work in her favor at the time, and she much preferred to alter articles when there weren't any burning eyes or pointed noses peering down her neck. "You staying late again, Deli?" A masculine voice spoke, close enough for her to feel hot breath on the back of her neck.
A sarcastic close-lipped smile was thrown over her shoulder. She knew the man. One who smelled too strongly of cat piss (cologne wasn't it?) and put a truck load of gel on his hair, as though that woud hide the fact that he looked like a reject for the nerd club. "It's Adelia and it's none of your business Frank." The man seemed to be taken aback by the sharp tone in her voice, but then his expression fell. "It's George..." The man corrected her with an almost depressed tone, "That's what I said." She responded shortly, tiring of the man's presence. She was out in public, so she considered behaving like a good wannabe human, but if Daniel kept annoying her, she'd risk her job just to shut him up.
Luckily the man dragged himself back to his pitiful corner to grab his things before heading out the door. He murmured quietly, to which Adelia turned her chair back around and focused on the lit computer screen. "Later, Fred." She responded, not caring in the slightest. The beginnings of a smug grin pulled at her lips as she returned to her work. "Finally some fucking peace and quiet." She grumbled as she took to looking up recent videos from news channels and even taking the time to skim rumors and supposed 'hoaxes'.
One video title on Youtube caught her gaze in particular, LA CIRCUS MAIN ATTRACTION IS A CHIMERA. Most of the citizens were ignorant enough to think of the oddball creatures as some kind of rare animal, that they couldn't possibly be things right out of their devil spawn's storybooks. There was no need to try and dispel a hoax usually for there were always hundreds of people who commented with 'fake' 'hoax' 'photoshop' in their comments. However, Adelia would make sure that not even an ounce of doubt would rise from said articles and videos.
She began typing up an article to release for the LA Times website that would be presented for that week. Not to mention she'd probably dabble in the writings of others, edit a few things, because you know, that's what good friends did. "You still creeping in your cubby hole, Gavril?" She spoke, although no one was around her as she continued typing letters and forming words into the rough draft on Microsoft Word.
Adelia wasn't stupid, so she was more than capable of scenting the exotic fragrance of a fellow dragon. She never discussed her boss, Gavril's, background mainly because she could care less. "I made sure that your niece's troublemaking was placed upon someone else's head. How nice of me, I know right?" She snorted, it was a pain in the ass that the man's little goody goody devil-two-shoes of a niece always seemed to not care much for covering the dirty trail she left behind her in her wake as she went about fucking up lives. |

[googlefont="Old Standard TT"] [attr="class","edmess"]"What happened this time?" His deep baritone carried out from his office without needing to raise his voice. There was a tired indifference in his voice at the mention of his niece. She was certainly living her life to the fullest with that trashy establishment she called a strip club. He stopped typing notes into his calendar for the meeting the next day. It was time to review for sweeps and he wanted something fresh and new, for that's what it had to be nowadays to hold people's attention. He sighed in resignation and leaned back into his plush leather chair, right hand pinching the bridge of his nose. The twins were going to need a good talking to and he made a mental note to stop by their establishment soon.
He closed his laptop and slipped it into his black leather briefcase, closing it with a click, he stood up from his desk and pushed the chair in. He grabbed his briefcase by the handle, long tapered fingers, curling around the leather with a firm hold as he reached his full 6'4 height. He strode across the room with easy, confident strides as she adjusted his black three piece Armani suit. He tucked in his silver tie before flicking the lights and securing his office door behind him. He turned and walked down the hallway to the common work area where the reporters sat in their own cubical to for their work. His crystal blue eyes had no problem locking in on the source of sarcasm. He locked onto the woman typing away at her desk, everyone else having left after George had vacated the premises. He really should tell the man not to bother with Adelia. He was a good reporter and he'd hate to see him conveniently disappear at the woman's bequest.
"Nothing too serious that we can't underplay?", he stopped by her desk, overlooking her shoulder to see just what the twins had been up too. He ignored her flagrant poke at his family. He'd let it slide for now, besides she was doing it so he wouldn't have too, but this only further strengthened his resolve to have a very "healthy" discussion with them. He hadn't stopped by to see them since he'd commandeered the LA position. He'd never been a really hands on person unless it was food or the woman he was fucking for the moment, but they were family regardless and with that came some strings of sentiment, even if it was a bit distanced and indifferent.
He hadn't known what to think when Adelia Fenier had waltzed into his branch her at the LA Times. He'd known immediately what she was and vice versa. He'd pondered just throwing her out on her ass, being as territorial as their kind was, but she was easy on the eyes and then he'd heard rumors. Rumors of what her family had been up too in LA and where they came from. He'd heard of her family, practically friggen European dragon royalty and the fact that she could be connected to him would only profit him. It would be beneficial to have someone else who knew what was going on to do damage control and it was always wise to keep a close eye on the competition. It didn't hurt that she was easy on the eyes. He leaned back after reading her handiwork and he had to admit, she was good. Keeping her around was proving to be beneficial to him, maybe not the rest of the male staff who wanted to get into her pants, but for him...keeping her around was proving useful.
"I'll speak with my family here on these matters. As always, good work Adelia. You going home soon?" he asked casually with an arched eyebrow. He was all for working hard, it was how he'd become so successful. He'd worked for it and as he stared at Adelia he wondered just how hard she would work to get what she wanted...then again what did she want? He looked at her expectantly and internally decided that he needed to figure out what made her tick and what she wanted because he did not handle wild cards very well...

| So sloppy.
The woman thought to herself quietly as she reviewed the recent happenings in Los Angeles, only to find a rather artistic murder happen to a stripper at the night club downtown. "Could you possibly be anymore tacky... a repulsive, loose ass stripper. And all because she demanded a little more money for her shitty makeshift career." Of course, she didn't care about the wellbeing of someone who so willingly tossed their life to such a all time low. It was more of how the Petrov twins went so happily about taking care of their business.
She acknowledged the deep baritone voice that carried from his office down the way, but she took her time in responding. "Don't get pissed at me for something they did." It was just like her to try him, although she would do that to anyone who tried to silently assert their authority. It was obvious to her what laid underneath that false mask of his, scales, sharp teeth, and power.
Her fingers ceased their rhythmic strumming along the keys as the voice of her boss sounded closer. "This is me you're talking to, you do know that right?" The woman quite enjoyed twisting the truth, forming lies out of honesty, it was quite easy. Some people were just so ready to believe the impossible, to drown their doubts, to place the blame on someone else except their own. "She was strangled, but as far as this city knows, a deal with a man who didn't get as much as he wanted from her, caused the deal to end rather abruptly. The truth more or less, hm?" She almost snorted at her words, how long were people going to continue to believe this bullshit?
Now, to describe what she had thought when she had first laid eyes on Gavril Petrov? Hot, intimidating sex on legs. Although would start to believe that that particular attribute was a given among the dragon species. Hearing the man state that he'd converse with his family on their own personal issues, she turned in her chair. Her legs still crossed, and now her arms folded, she gave the man an incredulous look. "Ooo praise, do I get a cookie?" She spoke sarcastically, a smirk on her face as she peered up at him with sharp bluish-green eyes. "Good look with those two. I wouldn't want to have to correct the media about you hanging upside down from a telephone pole. That would be just tragic, now wouldn't it?" Perhaps she was being sarcastic, or maybe even serious, certain things were a mystery when it came to unraveling the mess that was her mind.
When it came to her deciding as to whether her work was done for the day and she was going to go home, she almost snorted. "Me go home when Juan and everyone else has finally slunk back to their holes enabling me to get some peace and quiet while I work? Please." Her hands moved to the dress that still seemed a bit short for a professional look, purposely adjusting it so that it would even seem the slight bit more racy.
It was like her to play at things she wouldn't give free samples of, did she look like a drive-thru window? "What about you? You leaving or are you afraid I'm going to raid your files of your most personal secrets?" As if she cared.
Slender, feminine fingers drummed on her arm impatiently. "For fuck's sake, I could use a shot of tequila right about now. Oh but some jackass had to make it illegal to just walk around with that shit whenever they wanted to." Her lips pursed into a pout as though she was thoroughly upset. "Ah, whatever." She looked over her shoulder at her article, the cursor blinking, patiently awaiting her to continue what she had started. "That is if the almighty bossman himself didn't want me to do something else?" She asked, studying the man as though he was a rather delectable hunk of meat, fresh for the taking.
As if she would let him play into her mind so easily, to find out what made her tick, what fueled her to keep on keeping on. "For what it matters, you should be watchful of the boy. Tyler, was it? It might be fun having Accalia going down on him after five after night, but she has a extravagant, and stupid, way of earning her money." She trusted her sister sure, she just didn't trust the people that had given her sister the job. |
